Chapter 912 Dispute

Phoebe hadn't been back to the States last year, but she kept up with the entertainment industry trends.

She nodded and lowered her voice, saying, "Only the best stars stick around."

Mary couldn't help but laugh. "Some of them are unlucky. They've got the looks and the talent but got screwed over by their management companies."

Phoebe replied, "The ups and downs of this industry are just part of the game. It's all about fame and fortune. Those who stay on top have some real skills."

"Phoebe, I love talking to you; you're so clear-headed and easy to talk to." Mary clinked her glass with Phoebe's and then turned to Noah. "Noah, have you lost weight from filming the reality show recently?"

The show started filming in November, and the final cut wasn't out yet, but the director said the footage looked great. The guests were naturally funny, and it was expected to be a hit.

Mary wasn't aiming for fame; she just wanted to create a show that would help viewers understand culture.

Noah smiled and said, "I haven't lost weight. Phoebe just complimented me on growing taller and told me to stop growing."

Mary squinted at him and realized Noah had indeed grown taller.

She asked, "How old are you this year? How are you still growing?"

"He's twenty-four this year. Boys develop later, and with proper nutrition, they grow taller," Phoebe explained to him.

Mary nodded. "Your height is good enough. If you grow any taller, it'll be hard to find actresses to pair with you. But you're too skinny; you need to eat more."

"Okay," Noah agreed.

The three chatted for a while before the host of the party, surrounded by stars, approached them.

Mary stood up straight and introduced Phoebe, "Phoebe, this is Bruce Howard, the brand representative. Bruce, this is Phoebe Ziegler."

"Superstar Entertainment's Phoebe Ziegler. I've heard so much about you." Bruce enthusiastically shook Phoebe's hand. "I've seen you on Facebook's news headlines at least ten times. I'm very impressed. It's an honor to finally meet you. You're truly a beauty."

Phoebe smiled graciously. "Mr. Howard, you're too kind. It's all thanks to the makeup artists. Without the makeup, I wouldn't be presentable."

Bruce laughed heartily. "Ms. Ziegler, you're so funny. This must be your company's Noah, our spokesperson. My secretary just called to say the dress you're wearing tonight is already sold out. Your ability to promote products is top-notch."

Noah shook Bruce's hand and said, "It's the brand's influence that's become a household name. People recognize quality."

Bruce patted Noah's shoulder and said to Phoebe, "Phoebe, your company's actors are as articulate as you. I like that."

Phoebe laughed and said, "Mr. Howard, our actors are straightforward and honest, never saying anything just to please others."

Bruce beamed and said to Mary, "Ms. Watson, look at Ms. Ziegler. She says she's not articulate, but she just praised our brand without even mentioning it directly."

Mary laughed along. "Mr. Howard, I told you Ms. Ziegler is a gem. You didn't believe me before, but now you do, right?"

"I believe. Ms. Ziegler, let's exchange contact information. I need to have a good chat with you later." Bruce took out his phone and opened WhatsApp, handing it to Phoebe.

Phoebe hesitated for a moment.

Mary nudged her arm and laughed, "Ms. Ziegler, Mr. Howard's WhatsApp isn't easy to get. Hurry, before he changes his mind."

Phoebe quickly took out her phone and added Bruce on WhatsApp.

They chatted a bit more before Bruce, as the host, had to attend to other guests and left.

After Bruce left, Mary leaned in and said to Phoebe, "Looks like he's pretty impressed with Noah. When you lock down that spokesperson deal, you owe me dinner."

Phoebe finally realized that Mary had intentionally set her up for this opportunity.

She was puzzled, though, since Mary had several actors under her wing. Why not keep such a good opportunity for her talent?

Seeing through her confusion, Mary said, "My actors don't have the same pull as Noah. Rather than wasting the chance, I'd rather do you a favor. Who knows, I might need your help someday."

Phoebe understood and smiled. "I'll repay your kindness with all my efforts."

"Cut the dramatic talk," Mary waved her hand, pretending to shoo her away.

Phoebe stepped back and accidentally bumped into someone behind her.

She apologized and turned around to see Vanessa standing there, her expression darkening.

Vanessa had been stepped on by Phoebe's high heel, causing a sharp pain.

She glared at Phoebe and said, "Can't you watch where you're going?"

Phoebe's apology was about to slip out, but she swallowed it back.

She coldly replied, "I wondered who it was. Turns out it's Ms. Fitzroy. Do you enjoy eavesdropping behind people?"

Vanessa glared at her angrily. "Phoebe, you think everyone is like you, doing sneaky things behind people's backs, not worthy of the spotlight."

Phoebe was about to retort when a familiar female voice came from behind, "Anyone who doesn't know might think Ms. Fitzroy is introducing herself."

They all turned to see Cindy walking over in a deep blue mermaid dress.

Standing next to Phoebe, they looked like two beautiful flowers.

Phoebe was pleasantly surprised. "Cindy, why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise," Cindy said warmly, linking arms with Phoebe and glaring at Vanessa.

Vanessa sneered, "Cindy, I haven't offended you. You should speak with some conscience."

"Listen to Ms. Fitzroy, talking as if you have a conscience. If you were so conscientious, how could you have done such disgraceful things back then?" Cindy mocked.

Vanessa's expression changed, feeling the subtle gazes from all around.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Ms. Croix, you should speak with evidence."

"Do we need evidence? Everyone knows three years ago you tried to replace Phoebe as Theodore's wife. Too bad, even if Phoebe gave Theodore to you, you couldn't make it happen. Some people just aim too high," Cindy's words were particularly sharp.

Phoebe tugged at her.

They were here for the party, and she didn't want to make a scene. "Cindy,"

"Don't be afraid of her. She bullies the weak and fears the strong. If I weren't here, she'd probably want to eat you alive," Cindy said.

Phoebe couldn't help but rub her forehead. She wasn't that easy to bully.

Mary saw Phoebe's intention to keep things calm and said, "I was just talking to Phoebe about you, Cindy. I watched your recent makeup fusion video. It was fantastic, combining boldness with softness. Our company's actors are learning from it. When you have time, could you give them a workshop?"

Cindy saw that Mary wanted to defuse the situation and didn't want to steal the spotlight at the party.

She followed the lead, "Of course, but I'm expensive."

Mary chuckled, "Expensive is fine, as long as they learn something valuable. Let's set a time later."

The three chatted happily, leaving Vanessa out.

Unable to join the conversation, she snorted coldly and left with Finnegan.
