Chapter 929 Targeting Hubert, Boris, and Noomi

The higher-ups were smart enough to know that with Phoebe around, it was best to make themselves scarce.

They quickly found excuses and left.

Soon, the large private room was just the two of them.

Phoebe looked at the untouched food on the table and said, "What a waste, there's so much left."

Seeing a dish she had enjoyed earlier, Phoebe rotated the glass turntable to bring it closer, then scooped two spoonfuls into Theodore's bowl.

"I tried this earlier, it's pretty good. You should taste it."

Theodore glanced at her lazily, "I don't feel like moving. Will you feed me?"

Phoebe was momentarily stunned, then laughed, "Sure, I'll feed you. Open up."

Her voice was gentle, like coaxing a child who refused to eat.

She scooped up some food and brought it to his mouth.

Theodore stared at her intently, then opened his mouth and ate.

It was delicious.

Phoebe felt uncomfortable under his gaze and teased, "Stop looking at me like that, or I'll think you're eating me instead of the food."

Theodore chuckled, "Maybe I am."

Instead of toning it down, Theodore's gaze grew even more intense, like a wolf eyeing its prey, making Phoebe's heart race.

Sensing the atmosphere getting awkward, Phoebe quickly changed the subject, "Brian was chatting with me earlier. He mentioned plans for a new tech district with landmark buildings. It'll be the central area of the district. What do you think?"

The Reynolds Group had a diverse portfolio, including real estate.

A project as significant as the tech district was something they couldn't ignore.

Theodore replied, "Of course, we'll bid for it."

Phoebe stared at him, "So, this information is accurate? It's not a trap set for the Vanderbilt Group?"

Theodore narrowed his eyes. "Why would you say that?"

"Brian was probing me to see if the tech district was a decoy. He's always cautious. Though he hasn't made any major moves since taking over the Vanderbilt Group, he's managed to keep their assets intact, which is impressive," Phoebe explained.

Brian might seem unreliable in personal matters, but he was steady in his work, always aiming to avoid mistakes.

"You seem to admire him," Theodore's tone was tinged with jealousy.

Phoebe smiled, "It's not admiration, it's understanding. We grew up together. Brian was never the top student, but he was always consistent. No matter how tough the exams were, he maintained his level. It's really hard to be unaffected by external factors."

Theodore felt uncomfortable hearing her mention Brian repeatedly. He suddenly leaned in and kissed her hard.

Phoebe's face turned red. She glared at Theodore, "I'm talking business."

Theodore stared back, "If you mention another man's name again, I'll kiss you until you can't walk."

Phoebe was helpless.

Alright, she thought he was more mature now, but he was still the same jealous Theodore.

After dinner, Theodore drove Phoebe back to her office.

Watching her enter the Empire State Building, he took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Let's meet at the usual place."

He needed to speed up the bidding process for the tech district to avoid any complications, especially with Brian at the Vanderbilt Group.

If they weren't well-prepared, it would be hard to convince him to take the risk.

Phoebe returned to the office and passed by the secretary's desk.

She placed several boxes of desserts on the table. "Share these with everyone later. They're pretty good."

Lori quickly thanked her, noticing Phoebe's cheerful demeanor.

She teased, "Ms. Ziegler, did you enjoy your meal?"

Phoebe beamed, "Yeah, it was quite pleasant. By the way, I have a question."

Lori immediately sat up straight, "Ask away. I'll tell you everything I know."

Phoebe was amused. She pointed to the bite mark on her neck and asked, "Do you think this bite mark looks like a butterfly?"

Lori examined it closely, then said hesitantly, "Maybe I lack artistic sense, but it just looks like a bite mark to me. Quite a deep one."

Phoebe sighed, "I shouldn't have asked you."

Feeling rejected, Lori protested, "It's just a bite mark, Ms. Ziegler. I know you and Mr. Reynolds are back together, but you don't have to show me your marks."

Phoebe rolled her eyes. "You spend all your time between home and the office. You're wasting your youth. Don't let it slip away."

"Yeah, if I had so many men chasing me, I'd pick one easily. But I don't meet the criteria."

Phoebe didn't bother arguing and waved her hand, heading to her office.

Passing by the dark glass decor, she instinctively checked the bite mark on her neck.

Was she overthinking it?

After leaving the hospital, Sandra drove straight to Lakeview Estates, having already found out where Phoebe lived.

Seeing Phoebe living in a wealthy neighborhood, enjoying a luxurious life, filled her with envy and hatred.

Mostly hatred.

She thought, why does Phoebe get everything she wants? Wealth, men, children—she's the ultimate winner in life.

Despite having many suitors, Phoebe chose to compete with her. It was infuriating.

Driving into the neighborhood, Sandra circled until she found Phoebe's house. She parked at the corner and watched from her car.

Soon, she saw Evelyn and a servant pushing Hubert, Boris, and Noomi out, followed by two strong bodyguards.

The bodyguards scanned the surroundings vigilantly, missing nothing suspicious.

Sandra, feeling guilty, ducked down, fearing the bodyguards would spot her.

She accidentally hit her head on the steering wheel, feeling dizzy.

When she looked up again, they were gone.

Frustrated, she slammed the steering wheel, "Damn it, they're gone."

After fuming for a while, her head aching, she reminded herself to be patient.

She needed to figure out Hubert, Boris, and Noomi's routines and destinations to plan her move.

She sat in the car, playing on her phone until her neck hurt and her stomach growled.

Then she saw Evelyn pushing Hubert, Boris, and Noomi back, still accompanied by the servant and bodyguards.

Watching them happily enter the house, Sandra felt anything but happy.

She ordered takeout and saw Theodore's car drive by.

Instinctively, she ducked, hitting her head on the steering wheel again.

Tears streamed down her face. Being a villain was tough!
