Chapter 937 I Laugh at Your Foolishness
Phoebe stared at Madison for a long moment before suddenly bursting into laughter, leaving Madison utterly confused. "Are you nuts? What's so funny?"
Phoebe's laughter subsided slightly. "I'm laughing at how clueless you are."
Madison glared at her angrily. "Phoebe, you better watch your mouth."
"If you had any sense, you wouldn't come here trying to stir up trouble. Madison, do you know how long I've known Theodore? Forget the three years I wasn't around him, just think about the four years we spent together every day. That time adds up to more than the twenty-something years you've known him."
Madison couldn't argue with that. She was nearly ten years younger than Theodore.
By the time she could remember things, Theodore was either studying at home or abroad. Their time together was indeed less than Phoebe's time with him.
"So what?" Madison sneered. "You think just because you spent four years with him, you know him? No, you don't."
Phoebe shook her head with a smile. "Whether I know him or not doesn't matter. At least I know you, Madison. You're both dumb and naive, blindly following Vanessa's lead. Honestly, I'm curious to see what kind of mess you'll end up in."
Madison was infuriated by being called dumb and naive. She stood up abruptly. "Phoebe, I came here to warn you out of kindness. If you don't want to listen, fine. But don't blame me when things go south."
Phoebe looked at her, trying to hold back her frustration. "In that case, let me give you some advice."
Madison paused. "What?"
Phoebe said, "Stay away from Edward."
Madison stared at her in shock, then laughed coldly. "Why should I stay away from him? Are you jealous of me being with him?"
Phoebe pressed her lips together.
She knew she shouldn't have said anything.
Madison continued, "I get it now. You're with Theodore, but still want to keep Edward around. How shameless can you be? Phoebe, let me tell you, I'm going to stay with Edward. Not only that, but I'm also going to do everything I can to break you and Theodore up. I want you to end up with nothing."
With that, Madison stormed off in her high heels.
Phoebe walked out of the conference room, watching Madison's retreating figure, and shook her head helplessly.
Lori quickly approached, studying Phoebe's expression. "You said to call you in ten minutes. Looks like Ms. Reynolds wasn't that tough after all."
Phoebe glanced at her. "Is all the meeting material ready?"
"Yes, everything's ready. Everyone's in the conference room, just waiting for you," Lori said with a smile.
Phoebe nodded and headed to the conference room with Lori.
The meeting focused on resource allocation, agent responsibilities, and detailed commission structures. Previously, Phoebe had used the international salary standards while she was abroad.
However, over the past six months, she noticed many issues that didn't fit the local context.
After all, if agents couldn't earn more commissions from company resources, they wouldn't be motivated to work hard.
They would think that, since the company allocates resources anyway, no matter how hard they work, their commission would be limited.
They might as well wait for their salary.
With the new adjustments, their intrinsic motivation would be stimulated, increasing their enthusiasm.
The meeting ended with everyone eager to get to work under the new company policies.
However, every change has its pros and cons. While Phoebe resolved the agents' mindset issues, who knows what new problems might arise in the future?
At Patrick's studio.
Cindy walked in wearing a black down jacket, greeted by Laura at the door.
December in Kedora was freezing, and she brought the cold air in with her.
Laura smiled. "It's cold outside, huh? Looks like we're in for another harsh winter."
The studio was warm, and Cindy took off her jacket, draping it over her arm. "Yeah, Kedora's winters are always brutal."
"The north is better with heating everywhere, but the south is different. Without underfloor heating, you just have to tough it out. Last year, Patrick was filming in the south, in a rural area. The conditions were tough, and he got frostbite on his hands."
Cindy and Patrick had broken up by then, but she knew he had spent three months filming in the countryside during the coldest time.
She stayed silent, and Laura continued, "Frostbite is hard to heal, red and itchy. It's uncomfortable in both cold and warm weather. I watched him apply ointment every day, but it didn't get better until he returned to Kedora and the weather warmed up."
Cindy said, "I've heard that once you get frostbite, it can come back the next year. It's important to stay warm."
"Yeah," Laura glanced at Cindy, seemingly intentionally. "Frostbite is stubborn. You should keep an eye on Patrick's hands this year. If there's any sign of it, apply ointment early to prevent it from getting worse."
Cindy smiled slightly, realizing Laura's true intention. "I know. You have to take care of your man, or someone else will."
Laura was speechless.
She caught Cindy's sarcasm but decided not to retort as they approached Patrick's office.
Patrick was dressed casually today, in a white sweater over a gray shirt and light blue jeans, looking at least ten years younger.
Across from him sat the show's producer, Everett Stevens. Everett stood up to shake Cindy's hand, smiling. "They say happiness makes you glow. Ms. Croix, you look stunning today."
No woman dislikes compliments, and Cindy was no exception.
She smiled. "Mr. Stevens, you're too kind. Standing next to Patrick, who would dare claim to be beautiful? Even a pearl would lose some of its luster beside him."
Cindy wasn't just flattering Patrick.
He was indeed very handsome.
After his debut, he played a general, and his looks were as striking as his character was intense.
Everett laughed. "Only you would dare tease Patrick like that. I like your personality. I hope you'll be just as bold on the show."
Cindy smiled. "Don't worry. Since I agreed to do the show, I'll make sure the whole world sees how Patrick spoils his girlfriend."
Everett sensed something subtle in her words and glanced at Patrick, who was just smiling at Cindy with a soft, affectionate look.
