Chapter 884 Good Feelings
Theodore had spent the entire afternoon in Phoebe's office.
Even Lori hadn't dared to enter until Theodore finally left, his shirt and pants wrinkled.
Everyone exchanged curious glances, wondering what had transpired in those hours to leave his clothes in such a state.
But no one dared to ask Phoebe.
Lori waited half an hour, giving Phoebe enough time to freshen up, before knocking and entering the office.
By then, Phoebe was already back at her desk, neatly dressed and working on some documents.
Lori glanced at her discreetly, noticing that Phoebe seemed more relaxed and happier than she had been in the morning.
She walked over, placed some files on the desk, and smiled. "As soon as Mr. Reynolds left, everyone in the office breathed a sigh of relief. They're really scared of him."
Phoebe glanced at her. "What's there to be afraid of?"
"I think you're the only one who's not afraid of him," Lori sighed.
That afternoon, when Theodore had stormed in with a dark expression and blocked Phoebe, no one had dared to intervene. It showed just how intimidating he was.
Phoebe lowered her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips. "I used to be terrified of him. Just seeing him made me nervous."
"Really?"
Phoebe nodded. "When he first came back to take over the Reynolds Group, he had a terrible temper. Back then, everyone secretly called him the Grim Reaper. Scary, right?"
Lori shuddered. "Very scary!"
Phoebe chuckled. "He's mellowed out a lot in recent years. He's much easier to get along with now."
She remembered how he used to speak so harshly, making everyone uncomfortable. She had always been on edge around him.
"That's because you have a good relationship with him. Mr. Reynolds is pretty intimidating," Lori remarked.
Phoebe gave her a sidelong glance, suddenly recalling Theodore's earlier outburst. "Did anyone at the company offend Mr. Reynolds today?"
"No, who would dare?" Lori replied, then seemed to remember something. "But there's something I need to report."
"What is it?"
"Finnegan, the actor who scratched Wesley's face, has been dropped by the production team," Lori said, her tone indignant. "Serves him right. Wesley came to the office today, and his face is a mess. If it scars, it'll be a lifelong issue. A grown man fighting and scratching someone's face—it's disgraceful!"
"Finnegan got dropped?" Phoebe was surprised, then recalled Theodore's words earlier. She guessed he had a hand in it.
Lori nodded. "Yes, they just told me. The role is open now. Should we send someone to audition?"
"Of course, we can't miss such a good opportunity. Who do you think should go?"
As they were discussing, there was a knock on the door. Phoebe looked up and said, "Come in." The door opened, and a handsome young man walked in.
Phoebe recognized him.
He was Barry, a top graduate from Kedora Film Academy, two years senior to Wesley. He had entered the industry early but hadn't found the right opportunity, wasting several years.
"Barry, what's up?"
Barry, with his good looks but lack of fame, was a bit of a tragic figure.
"I heard the Ice and Fire production needs an actor. I'd like to audition. Please give me this chance, Ms. Ziegler," Barry said.
"The role is a villain. Aren't you worried that playing a villain will make it hard for you to get positive roles in the future?" Phoebe asked.
She had thought of Barry earlier.
His upright image would create a strong contrast as a villain, and she worried it might limit his future roles.
Barry's eyes were determined. "I'm not afraid. I'd rather try different roles than waste more time waiting for the perfect one. The more roles I try, the more versatile I can become."
Phoebe nodded approvingly. "Alright, since you're asking, go to Suncrest City this afternoon."
"Thank you, Ms. Ziegler!"
Phoebe waved him off, giving him some final instructions before letting him leave.
Only she and Lori remained in the office.
Phoebe turned to Lori. "What do you think of Barry's acting skills?"
Lori, who knew the company's actors well, had been acting CEO before Phoebe returned.
"Ms. Ziegler, I'll be honest. Don't take it the wrong way," Lori said seriously.
Phoebe smiled. "Do I seem that petty?"
Lori continued, "In my opinion, Barry's acting is mediocre. He doesn't fight for roles, which is why he keeps missing opportunities. I was surprised he came to ask for this one."
"Yes, in this industry, his kind of personality is rare," Phoebe said calmly. "Let's see if Hank likes him."
"Yes, this is a rare opportunity. If Hank picks him, his acting will improve significantly. This film could be his big break," Lori said optimistically.
The entertainment industry was full of overnight successes, but how far one could go depended on luck.
"Lori, go with him to the audition and make sure he gets the role," Phoebe instructed.
Lori looked at her in surprise, then clapped her hands and laughed. "Alright, Ms. Ziegler, I won't let you down. I'll help him get the role."
Phoebe wanted Lori to accompany Barry to Suncrest City to assist him. She had her eye on this role from the start, and now that the opportunity was back, they couldn't miss it again.
That evening, Lori took Barry to Suncrest City.
When they arrived at the production site, several other entertainment companies had already brought their actors.
Lori saw not only new faces but also some popular actors and even a few who had once been overnight sensations but had since faded into obscurity.
It looked like a tough competition, and it was anyone's guess who would win the role.
Phoebe hadn't anticipated such fierce competition. She received a call from Lori while sitting in Theodore's car.
After hanging up, she rubbed her temples.
Failing to secure this role wouldn't significantly impact Superstar Entertainment, but it could mean the end of Barry's acting career.
When she signed Barry, she had promised to make him a star.
But opportunities kept slipping away, and she hadn't been able to fulfill that promise.
Theodore, one hand on the steering wheel, glanced at her. "What's wrong? What are you worried about?"
