Chapter 942 Hidden Worries

Everyone turned to Phoebe, waiting for her to explain. Just as she was about to speak, a deep, authoritative voice came from behind her.

"No, we've known each other for almost eight years. Phoebe is my wife. Insulting her is insulting me," Theodore said coldly, staring at the woman.

This woman had tried to approach him several times before, but he saw through her ill intentions and ignored her.

He hadn't expected her to come and cause trouble for Phoebe.

The people present were shocked by this unexpected turn of events and looked at Theodore in disbelief. "You've known each other that long?"

Phoebe turned her head and looked at him helplessly. "Why did you come over?"

Theodore put his arm around her shoulder and said gently, "I saw you being bullied and came to support you. If there's nothing more to say, we'll be leaving."

Theodore's attitude towards Phoebe was completely different from his attitude towards others.

He spoke to her gently, but was cold as ice to everyone else.

The others quickly said, "Nothing more, nothing more."

Under Theodore's powerful presence, they had no choice but to back down.

Besides, he had said they'd known each other for seven or eight years, so it couldn't be as the woman claimed.

Theodore was about to leave with Phoebe when the woman behind them spoke up, "Mr. Reynolds, don't be fooled by her. When I left the company, there was an important banquet that night. The company urgently hired a secretary. Given the manager's character, it's impossible that he didn't make a move at the banquet. Only Phoebe knows who she entertained that night."

Phoebe's face changed slightly, and she frowned at the woman. Then she felt a gentle pat on her shoulder, as if to comfort her.

Theodore said, "Do you think that with a handsome, wealthy man like me, she'd be interested in anyone else?"

The atmosphere froze.

One of the women present quickly agreed, "Exactly! With a husband as outstanding as Mr. Reynolds, Phoebe would have to be blind to look at anyone else."

Another woman chimed in, "Yes, their relationship is great. Stop trying to stir up trouble."

The woman bit her lip and sneered, "Mr. Reynolds, no one can wake someone who's pretending to be asleep. But I will find evidence to show you Phoebe's true colors."

Phoebe thought the woman was crazy.

Someone who had nothing to do with them was meddling in their affairs. She must be out of her mind.

The others couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Miss, aren't you usually the most aloof? Why are you meddling now? Could it be that you've fallen for Mr. Reynolds?"

The woman's expression showed a hint of embarrassment, but she quickly said righteously, "I just don't want to see Mr. Reynolds being deceived."

"Why do you care if he's being deceived? He's willing to be. Are you just jealous of their happiness?"

The woman argued, "What did she give you to make you speak for her? Are you trying to use the Reynolds family's influence to get your kids into Little Starlight Nursery?"

The others looked away guiltily. Of course, they wanted to get their kids into Little Starlight Nursery.

That way, it would be easier for them to get into Elite International Primary School later.

They had heard that Elite International Primary School had one of the best educations in the area, and having their kids be classmates with children from wealthy families would be a valuable resource for their future.

Phoebe said calmly, "Just because you have impure intentions doesn't mean everyone else does. Feel free to bring your kids over to my house to play. Hubert, Boris, and Noomi love making friends."

"Sure, it's getting late. I'll take my kids home now. Let's exchange parenting tips sometime," the others said happily.

Getting close to Phoebe meant their kids' spots at Little Starlight Nursery were secure.

Phoebe smiled at them and glanced at the woman's angry face before turning to leave.

Theodore called Hubert, Boris, and Noomi over.

Hubert, Boris, and Noomi reluctantly slid down the slide and ran over. "Mom, I want to play a little longer."

"It's too late today. We'll come back tomorrow, okay?" It was freezing outside, and Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were sweating and had flushed cheeks from playing.

Phoebe crouched down and touched their backs.

Seeing they weren't sweaty, she used a towel to wipe the sweat off their necks to prevent them from catching a cold.

Theodore bent down and lifted them into the stroller, and the family of five headed towards the villa.

Phoebe turned to look at Theodore and noticed his expression was cold.

She took his arm and asked, "Are you angry?"

Hearing the word "angry," Hubert, Boris, and Noomi immediately turned to Theodore and asked seriously, "Theodore, why are you angry? Is it because we were naughty?"

Theodore patted her head and said gently, "I'm not angry."

"But you're not smiling," Boris pointed out sharply.

Theodore couldn't help but laugh. He lightly flicked Boris's forehead. "Sit properly, or you'll fall and cry."

"I won't fall," Boris said proudly, lifting his chin.

As soon as he said that, he stood up in the stroller but tripped because he was wearing too many layers.

Theodore quickly grabbed his hat and put it back in the stroller.

"Sit properly!"

Boris obediently sat in the stroller and didn't dare move again.

This little incident diverted Phoebe's question.

Bringing it up again would seem forced, so she didn't say anything more.

She didn't know the woman had worked at that company before.

Her sudden appearance and inappropriate comments today must be due to her imbalance.

What would she do next?

The woman returned home with her child, growing more resentful.

She handed the child to the nanny and went to her room with her phone.

She was friends with someone in the company's HR department.

Luckily, her friend was plain-looking and had escaped the manager's clutches.

"Do you remember the day I left, a new secretary named Phoebe started?" the woman asked her friend.

Her friend remembered Phoebe well.

After all, she was now the owner of an entertainment company and had made several stars famous.

"I remember. I heard colleagues talking about her at a meeting recently. She's changed a lot. She's now the owner of an entertainment company and is doing great in the industry," her friend said.

The woman rarely checked Facebook and didn't care about the entertainment industry, so she didn't know Phoebe was so successful.

It must be because Theodore invested in her.

"Do you remember three years ago, when she first started, she accompanied Raphael to a banquet?"

"I remember. You suddenly left, and Raphael was desperate. When he saw Phoebe's photo, he immediately asked me to contact her. That night, she was supposed to entertain a big client."
