Chapter 946 Is Theodore Starting to Dislike You

Lawton was on fire.

Before the workday even wrapped up, he burst into Theodore's office, a huge grin plastered on his face.

"Mr. Reynolds, guess what I dug up?"

Theodore, catching Lawton's excited vibe, asked, "What did you find?"

"I did some snooping. The night Raphael took Ms. Ziegler to that party, we were at the Azure Palace Hotel for another event. Remember, we almost crashed the wrong party?" Lawton's excitement was contagious, like they were on the verge of a major discovery.

Theodore nodded, "Yeah, I remember."

Lawton rubbed his hands together, practically buzzing. "You mentioned before that you thought the woman that night wasn't Ms. Ramirez but someone else. What if the person who ended up in your room by mistake was Ms. Ziegler? If that's true, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi could be your kids!"

If that were true, it would be mind-blowing.

Theodore had already started to suspect this when Lawton confirmed that Phoebe had attended a party at the Azure Palace Hotel the same night he was there.

This was also why Edward was so hell-bent on acquiring the Azure Palace Hotel, even if it meant clashing with the board.

He wanted to bury the truth and keep them in the dark.

But Edward's actions only made Theodore more certain of his suspicions.

His emotions were all over the place, and he could hardly sit still. "Lawton, I need to confirm one more thing."

To figure out if the woman that night was Phoebe, he just needed to confirm if Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were his biological children, which seemed almost certain.

Theodore stood up, and Lawton quickly handed him his coat. "Mr. Reynolds, what else do you need to check?"

Theodore took the coat and threw it over his shoulders, striding out of the office. "Wait for my good news."

Lawton watched him disappear through the door, feeling a joy he hadn't felt in years. He hadn't seen Theodore this happy in a long time.

He hoped Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were Theodore's kids.

Theodore took the elevator downstairs.

As he stepped out of the building, he saw Phoebe leaning against a car door, wearing a red down jacket and playing on her phone.

He paused, quietly watching her.

The sky was darkening, caught between dusk and night. Her red jacket was the only bright color in the world at that moment.

She looked stunning in red, making her features even more striking.

Sensing his gaze, Phoebe looked up and saw him standing there. She waved at him happily.

Theodore snapped out of his daze and quickly walked over to her. "When did you get here? Why didn't you call me? Aren't you cold standing out here?"

Phoebe slipped her hand into his, letting him feel its warmth. "You tell me, am I cold?"

Her hand was warm, small, and fit perfectly in his. He immediately wrapped his hand around hers. "Don't wait outside like this again. What if I'm not here?"

"I asked Carol beforehand. She said you hadn't left yet, so I came. Let's get in the car." Phoebe opened the passenger door, but Theodore gently pushed her inside.

He leaned against the seat, his heart full, looking down at her. "Sit tight. I'll drive."

Phoebe smiled. "You're used to driving luxury cars. You might not be comfortable driving mine. How about I drive, and you relax?"

Theodore buckled her in, stealing a quick kiss. "Sit tight. I'll drive."

He kissed her again before stepping back, making a sound that made Phoebe blush.

Once Theodore was in the driver's seat and had the car moving, she asked, "You seem especially happy today?"

Theodore glanced at her with a smile. "If you come to pick me up every day, I'll be happy every day."

Phoebe smiled, realizing that Theodore was easily satisfied.

She decided she would surprise him more often.

"How about we go on a date and stay at a hotel tonight?" Phoebe suggested tentatively. She felt more relaxed without others around, and he could enjoy himself more.

Theodore's blood boiled at her suggestion.

Normally, he would have agreed, but he had something more important on his mind.

"How about another time? I didn't prepare anything today. Next time, I'll plan something special, just the two of us."

Phoebe had mustered the courage to suggest it, thinking he would agree.

His refusal caught her off guard, and she responded quietly.

Theodore leaned over, holding her hand on the gear shift. "Are you upset?"

"No, I was just saying. Tomorrow's a workday, we can't be too spontaneous." Phoebe looked down, her cheeks warm.

It was her first time suggesting something like this, and it didn't go as planned. She sighed.

Theodore squeezed her hand. "How about this weekend?"

"We'll see."

The car fell silent.

Theodore held her hand until they reached Lakeview Estates, then let go.

Back home, Theodore saw Hubert, Boris, and Noomi.

The familiar feeling of excitement from seeing them lingered, and his expression was softer than ever.

Noomi ran over and hugged his leg. "Theodore, can you take me to see Ethan?"

Theodore bent down and picked her up, his eyes full of affection. "Sure, but you need to ask Mommy first. If she agrees, we can go."

Noomi turned to Phoebe, who was changing into slippers. "Mommy, can we?"

Phoebe, not in high spirits, told Theodore, "You take them. I have a video meeting tonight, so I won't go."

Theodore watched her walk away.

She had been excited about a date earlier, but now she had a meeting.

She was upset.

He sighed, saying nothing more.

After dinner, Theodore took Hubert, Boris, and Noomi to the Donovans' home.

Phoebe curled up on the couch watching TV. Evelyn sat beside her. "Did you and Theodore fight?"

During dinner, she had sensed tension between them, unlike the sweetness of the past few days.

It was obvious they had argued.

Phoebe sat cross-legged on the couch, hugging a pillow. "No, we didn't."

Evelyn looked at her. "You need to control your temper. Theodore has been great, treating Hubert, Boris, and Noomi as his own. He's spent more time with them than you have and hasn't complained. You should be grateful."

Phoebe rested her chin on the pillow. "Mom, do you think couples lose their spark after being together for a while?"

Evelyn sensed something deeper. "Is Theodore losing interest in you? I told you not to be so distant, but you didn't listen."

Phoebe was helpless.
