Chapter 109. Baby Blues

His words echoed loudly inside of her head. She couldn’t just get it out.
*“Sienna, I’ll make sure that you are always safe with me.”*
He had been saying that, but she didn’t trust him somehow. Grigori and Aleksei were still somewhere out there. Those Russian mafias were still roaming free in the city. The last time she heard during Daniel’s phone call with Hamuza, they came back to New York from Russia.
The restlessness that gnawed inside her chest had been making her uncomfortable. She was feeling on the edge about this uneasy situation.
And then what about her aunt? She had not seen Aunty Milla at home. Where was she? What she was doing?
Her dad took it lightly when she asked where was Aunty Milla, while Estelle kept on feeling anxious. And of course, Estelle would feel uneasy since she told her yesterday about Aunty Milla’s dark secret in the past. Thereafter, Sienna felt uncomfortable about being at home.
In the morning, during the coffee break together in the dining room, she saw her dad and Daniel got along. She didn’t expect her dad to act friendly toward Daniel. Didn’t he say he dislikes the Wilson family because of their reputation?
“How are you feeling after working with my cousin, Nolan Wilson?” Daniel asked him.
Mister Patrick smiled after he drank his black coffee. Then he said, “It’s been good so far. I respect him. Mister Nolan Wilson has such good integrity and credibility in the business world, just like you.”
Obviously, it was tragic that the person Mister Patrick hated was his own boss. Nolan was also part of the Wilson family. Moreover, he just found out that his daughter married secretly for nine years with one of the Wilson family.
Life was just too tragic and complicated sometimes. And he got to accept it.
“Mister Moss, I’d like to ask for your permission, please,” Daniel spoke respectfully to him.
Mister Patrick stared at him, looking a little bit nervous. Then he shouted back, “Go on, say what you want to say, Mister Wilson.”
And of course, Mister Patrick was still too insecure to just call him by his first name after knowing that he was his son-in-law.
“Please, allow me to take care of your daughter at my place,” he said carefully.
Mister Patrick was quiet for a second. He was contemplating it.
“You want to take care of my daughter?” He smirked. “Of course, you should. You are her husband. That’s your obligation to take care of her. Even I’m still terribly shocked about this secret marriage between you two, but I want to trust you.”
Sienna opened her eyes wide awake when her dad said that. She truly didn’t expect his dad to say all that. Let alone he wanted to trust Daniel.
“I have a job to take care of. And I know I won’t be available to Sienna all the time. But you are her legitimate husband. I’m sure you are well aware of the obligation that you have when you decided to marry my daughter,” Mister Patrick said firmly.
“But, Dad, I don’t want to leave you here,” Sienna shouted out.
“Sienna, you are an adult now. And you are pregnant,” her dad reminded her. “It’s hard for me to let you go, but I know, one day I have to. And this is the time.”
Sienna flinched when her dad surrendered just like that. Was he defeated by Daniel’s intimidating charm? Was that what happened? Sienna terribly wondered.
And then Daniel gave his respect to Mister Patrick as he raised from the chair to take a bow at him.
Afterward, Daniel said politely, “Thank you, Mister Moss. I promise I will take care of your daughter lovingly.”

In the afternoon, Sienna returned with Daniel to his penthouse.
It was weekend. The maids were working at his penthouse. One of the maids came to inform them that there was a big package in the living room.
When the maid said that the package was specifically sent for Sienna, then Daniel told her to go ahead and see it. While he would take a shower in the bathroom upstairs, Sienna came to the living room to see that big package.
The maid helped her opening the cream paper wrap of that package box. Soon after, she saw a pretty big bouquet and some chocolate bars inside the box.
As soon as she read the little note left inside the box, she found out that the package was sent by Nolan Wilson. He congratulated her on her pregnancy.

*From: Nolan Wilson*
*Note: Hey, beautiful, congratulation on your first pregnancy! I’ve just heard the news from Daniel’s parents this morning. I thought I should celebrate it with this little gift I got for you, as well as my apology gift for my impudent behavior the last time we met. I’m sorry. And please, be happy, and forgive me. X*

Sienna chuckled as she shook her head in disbelief. Nolan was literally acting like a kid. And she didn’t want to have a bad thought about him anyway.
Nolan was being emotional at the time. He certainly had a personal issue with Daniel. She hoped they two would make it up soon. Eventually, she forgave what he did to her the last time. Sienna simply didn’t want to have drama in her life.
Afterward, Sienna went upstairs to see Daniel in person. She saw him in the bedroom. He did take a shower. He was changing his clothes into his new long sleeve white shirt.
“Daniel, the package is from Nolan,” she told him.
He immediately glanced at her, surprised.
“Oh, really? Did he say anything to you? Is there a little note he left?” He sounded uninterested when he asked her away, but the look on his face said otherwise.
Then Sienna answered him, “Yes, he said he just heard about my pregnancy news this morning from your parents. That’s why he sent me a gift of flowers and chocolate bars. He also said it’s also part of his apology gift.”
Daniel chuckled out. “His apology gift, huh? He didn’t even try to apologize to me properly.”
Sienna shrugged her shoulders, then she wondered, “Did you tell your parents everything about my pregnancy? And what about the others in your family? Do they know?”
Daniel nodded. “Yeah, I told everyone the happy news.”
Sienna flinched. She didn’t expect Daniel to share the news with his big family.
“My parents will come to meet us this afternoon. They want to congratulate you in person,” Daniel informed her.
Sienna gawked. “Wait, what?”
As he approached her and tapped her shoulder gently, then he murmured, “Change your clothes, Baby. You’re going to meet your parents-in-law soon.”
Right after he said that, Sienna gulped down her saliva anxiously.
She knew she would never be ready to meet his parents in person once again.

It was around four in the afternoon when Mister Bancroft Wilson and his pretty wife came to Daniel’s penthouse. The maids escorted them to the living room.
Meanwhile, Sienna was so nervous when the maid informed her that Daniel’s parents finally arrived here.
Daniel just came back from his study room. He thrusted his hand to invite her to meet his parents soon.
As soon as she held his hand, they were both walking downstairs carefully together.
There, in the living room, Mister Bancroft Wilson and Ms. Wilson stared up at them. They seemed starstruck at how charming Daniel and Sienna looked like as a couple. Besides, they were happy to hear the good news about Sienna’s pregnancy.
Soon after they met face to face in the living room, they greeted and hugged each other.
“Oh, my God, Sienna Wilson! Congratulation, darling!” Ms. Wilson shouted out excitedly. Her face kept on grinning. She looked so happy to have a future grandchild soon.
“Have you thought about the name for your child? Oh, is the baby a boy or a girl?” Mister Bancroft said afterward.
Sienna gawked when he questioned her abruptly. She had not even thought that far.
Daniel noticed the uneasy look on her face, and then he immediately took over the conversation, “Dad, it’s too soon to know. Doctor Mia will have to diagnose Sienna further.”
“Oh, right, Doctor Mia. How is she? It’s been such a long time since we haven’t met each other again,” Ms. Wilson murmured.
“She’s doing fine, working in the hospital as usual,” Daniel told her.
When they were all stared back at Sienna, she blinked nervously. Soon, she smiled widely and shouted out, “Oh, good, let’s have a seat here, Mister and Ms. Wilson…”
After they sat on the comfy sofa, and then Mister Bancroft said, “We’ve been wanting to visit you two here before we even heard about your pregnancy news, but Daniel didn’t allow us.”
Sienna immediately glanced at Daniel. She wondered why he didn’t allow his parents to come over to his penthouse.
Daniel pretended to clear his throat. Then he said, “You know that I have a lot of things to take care of, Dad. I just want us to meet when the time is right.”
“Oh, yes, it’s better that we meet together like this. But I’d like to get to know your wife more if you don’t mind. You’re okay, right, darling Sienna?” Ms. Wilson murmured. Her face always looked so happy.
Sienna quickly nodded at her. “Oh, of course. No problem, Ms. Wilson.”
During the conversation, Sienna noticed the way Mister Bancroft secretly exchanged a weird glance with Daniel.
Afterward, Mister Bancroft said, “Daniel, I’d like to talk with you upstairs in your study room, if you don’t mind.”
There was something secretive between Mister Bancroft and Daniel.
And she flinched when her hunch was right on the point.
