Chapter 95. Eavesdropping
In the afternoon, Sienna returned to Daniel’s penthouse. At least, that day, she felt relieved to be able to visit her dad during the lunch break. She had been missing her dad so much. She had the right to see him again.
And she knew, if she was asking for Daniel’s permission this morning, he wouldn’t allow her to go. And probably, he would have not gone to the office and he would rather stay to watch Sienna at home.
When she just went to the foyer of that big house, the room was so quiet as usual. Until she walked into the middle of the house, she vaguely heard someone talking.
When she walked further to the door that connected to the backyard, she finally heard Daniel’s voice. She carefully peeped behind the window to search him outside. Soon, she found him standing in the backyard.
For a moment, she watched him carefully from behind the window. She felt like a peeping tom by doing this. She was just curious what he was doing there alone.
She saw him holding his phone to his ear. His face looked pretty tensed. Maybe he had a rough conversation on the phone with someone out there, she assumed.
But then, when Daniel started raising his voice, she unintentionally heard his conversation. She heard him shouting out angrily as he said, “Hamuza! Do your job very well if you don’t wish to leave my company!”
He was so emotional at the time. He barked out at his most favorite personal assistant. Something was definitely going on.
“Gosh, what is wrong with him?” Sienna muttered in disbelief with his bad temper.
At least, she found out that Daniel was having a phone call with Hamuza at the time. The more she overheard his conversation, she picked up the topic they were talking about. It had something to do with his enemies.
Then she heard him barking out again, “Grigori and Aleksei are supposed to be still in jail now! How could the police let them go today?”
Sienna flinched when she heard him said that. Then she murmured bewilderingly to herself, “Grigori? Aleksei? The two Russian mafias that Aunty Milla talked about?”
“Who is this person behind them? How much power and influence this person has that the police finally agreed to release them from jail?” Daniel questioned the situation to Hamuza.
Sienna tried to think about it. “Does it mean they are roaming free in New York now?”
Nevertheless, she was terrified of her sudden thought. What would be happening next? What would Daniel do to those mafias? They were his enemies.
“I don’t give a damn, you hear me, Hamuza?!” Daniel shouted out. “Report to me everything that you find about them. EVERY SINGLE THING!”
And for a moment, Daniel was quiet while listening to Hamuza on the phone.
On the other side, Sienna was curious about what Hamuza told him at the time. But she couldn’t just meddle in between. Daniel would be suspicious of her if she did such reckless behavior.
“This person, who released them, surely has a hidden agenda toward me and my family,” Daniel spoke firmly. “I want you to find whoever this person is. And report back to me tomorrow.”
But then, he paused. His eyes bulged out in huge astonishment as he heard whatever Hamuza just told him on the phone.
“What did you say? You have found out? And who?” Daniel asked impatiently.
Sienna kept on eavesdropping to find out more. She didn’t want to stay in the dark.
The moment the familiar name escaped Daniel’s mouth, then Sienna held her breath.
“Milla Moss? Are you sure?” Daniel muttered in disbelief.
“Wh… what?” Sienna murmured, hugely surprised.
“Well, I know that woman. She is Sienna’s aunt,” Daniel told Hamuza.
Obviously, Sienna was terrified to hear that. The way Daniel mentioned her aunt’s name sounded cold and killing. It was like he would be ready to attack her aunt anytime soon.
“If this case really traces back to the woman names Milla Moss, I want you to do a background check of this woman,” Daniel ordered his personal assistant.
Sienna gulped down her saliva, feeling frightened. While her feet were jittering anxiously on the floor.
“I want you to learn what is her motivation to release Grigori Igor and Aleksei Igor. These men are dangerous lunatics. They can harm my family, and especially my wife,” Daniel said firmly. “Do your job well, Hamuza. Don’t disappoint me. You are my best man.”
Once Daniel ended his phone call with Hamuza, then Sienna immediately ran upstairs. She couldn’t let him see her standing behind a window like a thief. She was too terrified to meet eye to eye with him. He was so cold and scary when he was being emotional.
She had to hide in the bedroom and be alone for a while.
And once she had entered the bedroom, she quickly threw her sling bag on the bed. And then she dialed her aunt’s phone number. She was so worried for her aunt’s life if everything that she heard earlier was true. She had to confirm it. She had to know for sure.
After a few beeping sound, she finally heard her aunt’s voice on the phone.
“Hello, Aunty! Oh, God! Are you safe now? Where are you?” Sienna asked, panicking.
*“I am safe now at home, watching my favorite TV Show. What is fricking wrong with you, Sienna?”* Her aunt muttered peevishly.
“I’m sorry to disturb you right now, but I really need to ask this quickly to make sure…” she said, but she had to pause for a second since she was a little bit out of breath.
Then her aunt shouted back, *“What is it, seriously? You sound ridiculous.”*
“Aunty, are you… are you…” but her voice was breaking. She was feeling on the edge.
Before she could continue to ask away, her aunt asked wonderingly, *Wait, are you in his place right now? Don’t tell me that you are there…”*
“Aunty, please, just listen to me first,” she begged her. “Do you have anything to do with Grigori and Aleksei’s release from jail today?”
The moment she was being on the point to ask about that, her aunt paused. Aunty Milla was quiet for a few seconds.
Sienna narrowed her eyebrows wonderingly. “Aunty! Answer me! This is important for me to know! Because you have no idea about what I just heard from…”
*“Gosh, are those lunatic mafias called you or something? How did you know about their release from jail today?”* Aunty Milla asked suspiciously.
“Aunty! Oh, my God! I can’t believe you are really doing this! So, are you serious about your wicked plan which you told me the other day?” Sienna muttered emotionally. “And wait a minute… is having those men in your team will be part of your plan in the future?”
*“Sienna! Just shut up and stay back if you can’t even help me in this plan!”* Aunty Milla admonished her. *“And FYI, Sienna, those men are my very near future of destroying Daniel.”*
“Is stealing his money will destroy him?” Sienna wondered.
Aunty Milla chuckled out. Then she said, *“You just have no idea, huh? I think I forgot to tell you the whole plan, little darling.”*
Sienna immediately barked out, “Aunty! Come on! Don’t do this reckless thing! You can get us all killed by Daniel!”
Aunty Milla chuckled cynically and murmured, *“Well, I know you are too soft for being a wicked person, Sienna. You are indecisive and not too smart in this case. So, let me handle it. I have Grigori and Aleksei to help me out anyway. They will…”*
“What?” Sienna shouted out, terrified.
*“Well, the part which I have not yet told you, is the best part, Sienna,”* her aunt giggled.
“Which is what, Aunt?” Sienna asked impatiently.
*“Stealing his money won’t make him poor, Sienna. He is a very rich man. He has a lot of assets in the world. And his family also owns a lot of properties in Romania. I don’t think it is smart to only look at one aspect, don’t you think?”* Aunty Milla teased her.
“Come on, Aunt. Just be on the point with me,” Sienna begged her.
*“Alright, I tell you…”* Her aunt said cautiously. *“I need Grigori and Aleksei back to me. I can only do this if those men are roaming free in New York. They will have a dirty job to do soon. They know the dark secret behind the Wilson family. And therefore, it will not only be Daniel that suffering along the way, but also all of his family.”*
Sienna pinched her eyes bewilderingly. Then she murmured, “What is the dark secret? And how that dark secret can make everyone in the Wilson suffering as you said?”
*“You’ll see soon, my little darling Sienna,”* her aunt chuckled inscrutably.
“Oh, no, Aunty, please just forget it. Please just live your life normally. Don’t do this!” Sienna was still begging her.
Aunty Milla said firmly, *“Well, Sienna, your crazy husband is probably already found out about me being the person behind the Freedom Day of those two Russian mafias.”*
Sienna quickly shouted back, “Yes, he is! I overheard him talking on the phone earlier! He was talking about you, Aunt!”
*“Sienna, darling, just leave him before he will hurt you more,”* her aunt admonished her.
“I will! And I will divorce him!” Sienna shouted out emotionally. “But it’s not that easy, Aunt! I need the right time and the right context to do it!”
*“Well, then, isn’t this the right time and the right context? He is not in love with you. He is just obsessing over you, my pretty darling,”* her aunt said cautiously.
Sienna gulped down her saliva nervously.
Aunty Milla added, *“If he is not, let’s see if he will dare to hurt me. I am your family, and if he would do anything terrible to anyone of your family, then I tell you, it is not love.”*
Sienna shouted out, “But…”
*“Love doesn’t hurt. Remember that,”* said Aunty Milla.
Just like that, her aunt immediately hanged up the phone call.
