Chapter 68. Best Friend Reunion
As Sienna was ready to work again, she opened her flower shop the next day.
She didn’t want to stay quiet at home, doing nothing, feeling exhausted about the past. She wanted to feel useful. And one way to feel like life was matter again, was to get up and find the courage to start something beautiful again.
And then she remembered that she had a passion. After meeting with Cora yesterday, she just remembered that she used to want to open her own fashion boutique. But she knew, without money, she couldn’t open an established boutique house in the city. it would cost her a lot, and thus, she was not able to do so.
Therefore, she didn’t want to force herself to reach for something she couldn’t. She started thinking realistically about life. And she remembered, there was the other passion that she still could do. That was being a florist. She opened her own flower shop and be happy. And that was enough for her anyway.
When she opened her flower shop in the garage house, her regular customer next door was the first one to buy her flowers.
“Where have you been? I’ve been wanting to smell your flowers again. My daughter misses your beautiful flowers, you know,” the neighbor next door said to her.
“Ugh…” she grinned awkwardly. She didn’t know what to tell her. She just didn’t want to remember what actually happened two weeks ago.
“Were you sick?” This female neighbor looked concerned about her wellbeing.
Sienna giggled as she gave her the white lily flowers. Then she said, “Yeah, I was not feeling too well these days. But I think I’m getting better, don’t worry.”
“You should be better. Your admirers will miss your flowers,” the neighbor cheered her.
Sienna waved goodbye to her. “Okay, thank you!”
As soon as the neighbor left the garage, and then the next customer came by to visit her.
Sienna smiled widely to greet the next customer, “Hello, welcome to my flower…”
But when she just realized who was actually coming to her, she grasped the air, surprised.
“Oh, my God…” she blinked and murmured, “Cora? Is that you? Why are you sneaking at me?!”
Cora immediately took off her sunglasses and smiled at her. “Hey, Sienna, what’s up?!”
“What’s with your new style? You’re so weird…” Sienna giggled.
“Didn’t I tell you that I have a problem with a debt collector?” Cora reminded her.
“Oh, right, you did tell me yesterday,” and then she quickly approached her. And then she hugged Cora tightly. “I miss you so much. It’s been such a long time we haven’t met. And…”
Then Sienna released her embrace and said, “How do you know about my home address?”
“I asked my mom yesterday. And she asked your boyfriend, Jonathan,” Cora told her. And then she tapped her shoulder cheerfully, “I miss you too, Sienna. We lost contact since you stopped attending college. What a pity.”
Sienna smiled bitterly. The flash of the bitter past came into her head again. She remembered how painful those days back then when her mom died and her dad went poor. Everything happened so fast, she felt overwhelmed about remembering the past.
“Ugh, sorry, Sienna. I didn’t mean to bother you about reminiscing the past,” Cora sincerely apologized to her.
Sienna smiled. “Hey, it was all in the past anyway.”
Cora nodded. But she felt guilty to ever bring up the topic to her.
However, there was still one thing she needed to catch up on about life after college. And Cora intended on asking her about it, “Sienna, I don’t get it, how did you end up with the nerd guy names Jonathan?”
“Hey, don’t call him like that,” Sienna snapped. The way Cora was calling her boyfriend like how Daniel mocked him.
Cora shrugged her shoulders. “Sorry.”
Sienna sighed heavily. And then she told her, “We met for a while. And then we have decided that we want to have a serious relationship.”
“So, are you planning to marry him?” Cora wondered.
Sienna smiled shyly as she nodded. “Yeah, of course. But we’re going to be engaged first.”
Cora blinked bewilderingly. Then she had to ask her, “So, what happened with your love life with Daniel? Did you just ditch him and leave?”
Sienna was surprised by her sudden question. She narrowed her eyebrows bafflingly. “What? You’re so weird. Seriously, who the hell gives you the idea to talk me into this?”
Cora pinched her eyes at her, confused. “Gosh, you are the weird one. I’m asking you this because I have no idea if you have divorced him or not?”
“How do I get divorced from someone that I’ve never get married to, huh?” She snapped peevishly to her.
And then Sienna immediately left her to stand in front of the flower shop’s front desk.
“And I remember yesterday; you said I have a secret marriage with Daniel. That’s bullshit,” Sienna shouted again. She was still feeling pissed off.
Cora followed her behind and said, “What the hell? Did you hit your head or something?”
Sienna glanced at her, feeling flustered.
“Seriously, Sienna, I don’t get it,” Cora looked confused.
“Well, I had amnesia nine years ago from the incident. I was drowned, and then my aunt helped me,” Sienna finally told her. “But I don’t recall I ever got involved with Daniel Wilson.”
Cora looked shocked to just hear about this. “What? Oh, Gosh. I didn’t know that you lost your memories in the past.”
“Yeah, and not long after that, my mom died and my dad went poor,” Sienna muttered. “Everything turned so upside down. And that’s when I have to live with my aunt and my cousin in New York. We had to leave Canada because of our financial problem.”
“Yeah, at least you’re not involving yourself with a debt collector like me,” Cora muttered.
“Wait, what happened?” Sienna pitied her.
“I took my life for a gamble in Las Vegas. Crazy, huh? I lost a lot of fortune, and now I’m ended up with a stalkerish debt collector,” Cora grinned awkwardly while talking. “Well, although my mom has been helping me to pay my bills, I haven’t been able to cover up all of the payment for my debt for the past two years.”
“Gosh, Cora, why did you have to gamble with your life?” Sienna didn’t understand.
Then Cora shrugged her shoulders ignorantly. “I just want to release my stress. I haven’t got a job since graduated. Almost nine years, I don’t have good luck on my side.”
Sienna pitied her. And then she came up with an idea, “Hey, what about your work for me here in my flower shop?”
Cora’s lips trembled. She was surprised by the sudden offer. “What? Are you serious?”
Sienna nodded happily for her. “Yes, I’m deathly serious with you. And maybe you can have a freelance job in a coffee shop nearby. I have a part-time job there as a librarian during the weekend. What do you think?”
“Oh, my Gosh, yes! Absolutely!” Cora was so happy. And soon, she hugged her so tightly. “Thank you! Thank you! Oh, thank you!” And then she kissed her cheek, making Sienna giggled.
As they exchanged a stare at each other again, and then Sienna asked her, “By the way, can I ask you about what you know of my secret marriage with Daniel? Well, if that’s true…”
“Yeah, that’s true,” Cora immediately shouted back. “It’s real, Sienna. I was there at your wedding party. I was your only bridesmaid.”
“Gosh, how could I don’t remember it?” Sienna felt flustered with herself.
“I witnessed your wedding with Daniel. His parents were also there, except your parents, because you were hiding your marriage with him from them,” Cora told her.
Sienna looked at her, surprised.
“Oh, God, was that true? How could I do that?” It was hard for Sienna to believe it.
“You told me that your dad doesn’t like the Wilson family because they are dangerous mafias. So, that’s why you’re hiding your marriage with Daniel. And Daniel also doesn’t publicize you as his wife,” then Cora looked at her, concerned. “So, what I want to ask; what happened after the incident you lost your memories?”
“I just continue living my normal life afterward. My aunt and my cousin don’t tell me anything about Daniel. Well, that makes sense, because you said, I was hiding my marriage with him,” Sienna muttered.
“So, you’re still his legitimate wife then,” Cora murmured and smiled.
Sienna pinched her eyes at her in disbelief. “Ugh, gosh, I just don’t want to talk about this further now.”
“I get it. You start a new life with Jonathan now. It must be weird for you to hear the information that you have a husband somewhere out there,” Cora murmured. “But you are so closed to Daniel, and you don’t even know it. Your boyfriend worked in his office.”
“It’s a long story, Cora. Whatever,” Sienna muttered.
