Chapter 67. The Resignation Day

That day, Estelle already went earlier to the photo studio where she worked as a freelance model. And Aunty Milla also accompanied her.
There was only Sienna at home alone. She left the house around one p.m. after the lunch break. Jonathan had asked her to come by around that time.
Since the location of the school where he worked was near her house, she could go there just by walking. She got there in about fifteen minutes.
Jonathan had been waiting for her at the gate. They waved at each other as soon as they exchanged a stare from afar.
Sienna immediately hugged him and said, “Oh, I miss you.”
“Well, we’ve just met last night, Honey,” he reminded her. “And by the way, thank you for coming to get me.”
“Sure, we should call a taxi now,” Sienna said as she waved her hand at a taxi on the road.
Soon after, they both got into the yellow cab taxi together.

They arrived at the Wilson Enterprises office around an hour of the car trip. As soon as Jonathan paid for the taxi fare, he opened the door for Sienna.
Then he walked her inside the lobby. But she didn’t have the ID card to come upstairs.
He suggested to her that she could make a temporary visitor card, but she refused. She said it was better for her to wait for him in the lobby’s waiting room.
“Luckily, I don’t have many kinds of stuff. I think it will only take a box to carry all of my things,” Jonathan told her.
Sienna smiled. “Oh, good, Honey. So, you don’t have to spend your time too long here.”
“Yeah, right,” he chuckled.
And as soon as he kissed her cheek, he left her to go upstairs by elevator.
Sienna sat down on the sofa while watching random people came and gone into the lobby. When she started to get bored, she took out her phone to check on her social media that she rarely logged in to.
From the peripheral of her eyes, she felt like someone kept looking in her direction. When she glanced, she saw a woman who seemed at her age looked at her way. She wondered why that woman looked pretty familiar.
When she felt annoyed by that woman’s stalking attitude, she stared back at her. And then she confronted her, “Excuse me, do you have a problem with me?”
“Ugh… no, I’m not,” she gawked. She didn’t expect Sienna to confront her so suddenly.
That strange woman was wearing a long cream coat and black boots. She appeared like a detective in disguise. And she was wearing sunglasses. It was weird to wear black sunglasses when she was inside the building. It was not sunny outside though.
Sienna was not in the mood to pick a fight with anybody, but she thought this stranger needed to respect her. Then she snapped, “Then what do you want? Do you know me personally?”
Soon, that woman took off her sunglass. She stared at Sienna’s face closely while still standing in front of her.
“Si… Sienna Moss?” Her voice was kind of breaking.
Sienna pinched her eyes at this curly short blonde hair woman.
“Do… do you remember me?” She asked wonderingly.
Sienna kept on pinching her eyes harder at her. “Who are you?”
“I’m… I’m Cora Mulligan. Your best friend at college back then. We went to Sauder School in Vancouver. Do you remember?” She asked carefully her.
It took her a moment before she realized this woman was her best friend in the past.
“Oh, my God, Cora? You look so different with blonde hair,” Sienna muttered in disbelief while seeing her best friend again.
Cora grinned excitedly. And then she quickly sat beside her.
“Yeah, life is suck. I have to color my hair to hide my identity from a debt collector,” Cora admitted to her.
“What? A debt collector?” What happened to you? Oh, God…” Sienna was still taken aback. “And what are you doing in here?”
“Actually, I’d like to ask you the same question, but since we both already know why anyway, so… just let’s skip that part,” she giggled.
Sienna narrowed her eyebrows bewilderingly at her. She didn’t understand what Cora meant at the time.
And then Cora continued speaking, “So, I’m here to meet my mom. She has not returned to the office yet. The last time I check, she’s eating in a fancy restaurant with her coworker, and leaving me behind here. Suck, huh?”
“Your mom? She works here?” Sienna pinched her eyes, baffled. “Well, you have never actually told me anything about your family, so I’m surprised that your mom is part of the Wilson Enterprises.”
“I guess, she’s just damn lucky back then,” Cora smirked.
“Well, I’m here escorting my boyfriend, Jonathan. I’m going to help him bring his stuff back home. He just resigned himself yesterday,” Sienna informed her.
Cora raised one eyebrow at her. She looked bewildered for a second.
“Wow, hold on for a minute, Jonathan? Your boyfriend?” Cora giggled. “What happened to your secret husband? I thought you’ve got a long and happy life with that billionaire man.”
Sienna pinched her eyes again at her. She literally had no clue by what Cora was saying.
“I wonder why you suddenly end up with the new man names Jonathan,” Cora muttered.
Sienna shook her head. “Jonathan is soon to be my fiancé. We have been together for a while. I think he is the one for me.”
“What happened to your fairytale life then? You know, I envied you back then,” Cora muttered again.
“Cora, seriously, I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Sienna snapped.
Cora narrowed her eyebrows at her. “Look at where you are now. Isn’t this an irony to find your new boyfriend works at the place owns by your husband? Or did you guys get divorced?”
Sienna gawked when she said that. “Where do you get that idea from?”
Cora felt flustered when Sienna kept acting clueless about it.
“What happened to your secret marriage life with Daniel Wilson? I know that he still doesn’t expose his marital status in the public yet,” Cora whispered while her eyes looking around the room cautiously.
Sienna immediately bulged her eyes out, hugely surprised by what she just said.
All of a sudden, her memories randomly flashed again on her mind. She got even more flustered when everything went abrupt inside her head.
She quickly rested her hand on her forehead. “Oh, God, my head is spinning.”
Afterward, Cora reached out to caress her hand. “Sienna, I feel sorry for your loss back then. I know it’s not easy after all this time. And since you didn’t finish your business school…”
“Cora!” Sienna cut her off. “What are you trying to say? That I was married to Daniel?”
Cora paused to look at her carefully. And then she murmured, “Ugh, duh… yeah, you were, unless you get divorced, so you can use the past tense.”
Sienna took a deep breath. She thought that Cora must have been joking with her.
Before she could confront her more about it, Jonathan just came out from the elevator. And at the same time, Ms. Maddie Mulligan just walked into the lobby.
“That’s my mom,” then Cora immediately raised from the sofa.
Sienna followed where Cora was staring at. And then she just remembered that Maddie’s last name was also Mulligan. How could she miss the missing puzzle this much? She felt like the most clueless person in the room.
When Maddie approached them first before Jonathan, she greeted them.
“Hey, Cora, do you know Ms. Sienna Moss?” Her mom wondered.
“We went to Sauder school back then, I used to tell you a little bit about being a close friend with Sienna,” Cora reminded her.
“Ugh, I got a short-term memory,” Maddie muttered and rolled her eyes. “What a small world, huh? We all meet again!”
Sienna gawked while looking at this mother and daughter reunion.
“Hello, Ms. Mulligan. I just know that Cora is your daughter, wow…” Sienna was almost speechless to say anything further.
Soon after, Jonathan came between them. He greeted Maddie, “Hello, Ms. Mulligan, I was actually looking for you upstairs.”
“Mister Jonathan Brown, what can I help you?” Maddie smiled widely at him and looked a little bit flirty.
“Ugh, Mom, stop with your flirty attitude! Jonathan is Sienna’s soon-to-be fiancé!” Cora reminded her.
Maddie giggled. “Ups, I almost forgot about it.”
Jonathan also giggled along as he told her, “Actually, I want to give you this…” and then he put down his box on the floor, then he took out his resignation letter to give it to her.
“Oh, my, you’re resigning?” Maddie looked surprised. “I thought you liked it here.”
Jonathan shrugged his shoulders ignorantly as he answered her, “I think being a stock trader is just not what I do in life.”
Maddie looked sad. “I see, if that’s your decision, then I must respect you.”
After they stayed for some minutes for a little chit-chat, they separated their way that day.
