Chapter 85. The Confirmation
The next morning, Sienna woke up and took a shower. She tried to pretend that life was back to normal again, even though she stayed in Daniel’s penthouse in Manhattan.
She knew nothing would back to normal ever again. Especially after she had just regained her memories. She already remembered what happened to her in the past.
The incident.
The gunshot.
Everything slowly appeared inside her head.
The buried memories came back to her.
After all this time, Aunty Milla only told her that she was in an accident when she went on a vacation in Canada. She only blindly believed whatever her aunt told her back then. She truly didn’t have the memories when she started a new life with Daniel.
Since early in the morning she woke up on the same bed as Daniel, he kept avoiding her. He didn’t want to stare back at her. He didn’t even say anything to start a conversation with her. He was really quiet the whole day.
She wondered if Daniel was deliberately avoiding her that day. Did he still feel angry with her because of her bitter confession last night?
She confessed to him that she was lying about her name. She was faking her name in the past as Carmelia Rosewood. She told him that she was afraid of her family that wouldn’t accept him, and thus they wouldn’t get married.
It was young love. It was rough and abrupt. She didn’t think too far about her decision. All that she felt was just the happiness she could share with him.
She regretted her decision for being careless. But that was life. She had to choose her road.
And she felt she had taken the wrong road by marrying a billionaire mafia like Daniel.
Around nine in the morning, Sienna had done taken a shower and changed her casual clothes into a black blouse and black pants.
She had been walking back and forth in front of the glass window. Sometimes her eyes stole a glance at the bright view outside. The city looked alive and cheerful as usual.
But she was feeling the opposite at the time. There was one more thing that she needed to confirm before she would assume all things carelessly by herself.
Soon after, she called Aunty Milla. When her aunt finally received her phone call, she immediately greeted her, “Hey, Aunt, how are you today?”
*“Oh, Sienna! Where are you now? I didn’t know you left yesterday,”* her aunt muttered.
“Ugh, I…” Sienna tried to find a good excuse. “I’m with Cora now. I will be home soon.”
*“Why do you keep hanging out with that girl, huh?”* Aunty Milla wondered. *“Your dad is home now. You should be here, taking care of him!”*
“Right, how is he today? I hope he is getting better,” Sienna murmured.
*“Yeah, he is fine now. He’s been taking the painkiller pills,”* Aunty Milla informed her.
She smiled, relieved to hear that.
Thereafter, she remembered why she was calling her aunt in the first place. And then she asked away, “Aunt, I want to discuss something serious with you. Please, promise me, just tell me the truth, alright?”
Aunty Milla chuckled out on the phone. Then she said, *“What is it, Sienna? You make me nervous by saying this. Is there something wrong going on?”*
“It was about the incident nine years ago,” Sienna said carefully. “I did tell you that my memories are coming back, right? And now, I want to talk about my memories with you.”
*“Gosh, Sienna, those nightmares need to be buried away in the backyard. You have a new life now with Jonathan here,”* Aunty Milla admonished her.
When her aunty mentioned Jonathan, she flinched. She almost forgot that she had just broken up with him. She had not talked with him since the day they broke up.
And then suddenly, her fraction memories slapped her hard. She saw images inside her head. They were rolling fast like a tornado. She recalled the memories from the past. She saw Aunty Milla in the hospital.
“Wait… oh, Aunty! I suddenly see things!” Sienna exclaimed out surprisingly.
*“Things? Like what, Sienna?”* Aunty Milla asked wonderingly.
“You were the one that picked me up in the hospital nine years ago after the incident! You saved me, but…” Sienna got a hard time collecting the scattering puzzles inside her head.
*“Yes, I did. I saved you! How could you forget that?”* Aunty Milla shouted out firmly. *“There was only me that saving you in the past. Your dad was away in London.”*
“And what else?” Sienna confronted her. “I’m sure there was something in the past that happened more than that. You’ve been hiding something, Aunt. I can feel it.”
Aunty Milla instantly chuckled out. *“Gosh, Sienna. Are you accusing me of something?”*
“Alright, I will be honest now,” Sienna muttered cautiously. “It’s not only the nightmare of that incident that I remember, Aunt.”
There was a long pause after she said that. Her aunt stayed quiet for a moment.
And then Sienna continued telling her, “I remember who I was in the past.”
*“Sienna, don’t play with me,”* Aunty Milla muttered peevishly.
Sienna took a deep breath and said it out confidently, “No, I’m serious, Aunt. I do remember now. I am the legitimate wife of Daniel Wilson.”
She could feel her aunt must be shocked to hear this.
And then her aunt was stammering to talk, *“What… what did you say? Oh, God, no…”*
Sienna muttered, “You heard me, Aunt. I get married to Daniel Wilson. I’m sure you are familiar with him, not because he is a famous billionaire as listed on the Finance World Magazine.”
*“What?”* Aunty Milla’s voice was breaking.
“But because you had a one-night stand with Daniel nine years ago,” Sienna said firmly. “Correct me if I’m wrong.”
*“How… how did you know about this? Who told you? Have you met Daniel again?”* Aunty Milla sounded terrified on the phone.
Sienna sighed heavily and said, “Yes, sorry that I lied earlier. I’m actually staying at his place in Manhattan now.”
*“Gosh! Sienna Moss! You get back here, right this second! Come home now!”* Aunty Milla exclaimed out resentfully.
“Why? Are you afraid that I know your secret?” Sienna wondered. “But you have known my secret too for a very long time. And I wonder why you hide it from me after the incident.”
*“Be… because…”* her voice sounded trembling. *“I was trying to protect you from him!”*
“Protect me? Are you sure?” Sienna shouted back in disbelief. “I thought all that you cared was just yourself, Aunt. You are afraid that I know you once slept with him.”
*“Sienna!”* She snarled out like a raging thunder.
“Well, maybe you had slept with him for too many times. I don’t know,” Sienna sighed.
*“It doesn’t matter anymore! My relationship with him was long over. Now, I care for you! You are my niece! My brother’s beloved daughter!”* Aunty Milla exclaimed out again.
And then Sienna remembered about one thing, “Tell me why you have the photo of that Russian man names Grigori Igor.”
*“Grigori?”* Her aunty muttered. *“You saw his photo?”*
“Yes, when I was asking for the painkiller pills the other day in your bedroom,” Sienna told her. “Please, tell me. What is your connection to him?”
*“I don’t have a connection with that loser,”* Aunty Milla snarled. *“I hired him in the past to get you back.”*
“What? Did you know all along? How?” Sienna was shocked.
*“He is a mafia, Sienna. Of course, it has been his job to track down people. So, I hired him to track you down back then. He was Daniel’s minion before he got kicked out from his gangster,”* Aunty Milla informed her.
“But… but why didn’t you tell me everything when I woke up from the coma?” Sienna tremendously wondered.
*“I was afraid you would get back to Daniel again if you remembered him. He is a monster, Sienna. He could hurt you!”* Aunty Milla said firmly on the phone.
Sienna sighed. “Aunt…”
Aunty Milla shouted back quickly, *“It was better that you started a normal life. And I am happy that you are now about to plan your engagement with Jonathan.”*
“It’s over. I broke up with Jonathan last week,” Sienna informed her.
*“What the heck, Sienna?!”* Her aunt got astonished. *“You made a mistake!”*
“About your relationship with Grigori…” Sienna changed the topic quickly, “I remembered he once said to me that you were involved in the incident. Were you just trying to save me or there was something more? He wanted Daniel’s money.”
*“Yes, he told me too. About the money, Grigori also wanted to get his vengeance on Daniel. There was a conflict between him and Daniel that made him a scapegoat,”* Aunty Milla told her cautiously.
“Gosh, this is all too complicated,” Sienna muttered, annoyed.
*“I know, my darling. Just come back home now, please,”* Aunty Milla begged her.
“Aunt, I can’t now. Daniel will be mad at me if I run away from him,” Sienna told her carefully.
*You are not his puppeteer. You can’t possibly obey everything that he said,”* Aunty Milla encouraged her.
When the footstep sound was heard outside the bedroom, Sienna spoke fast and nervously on the phone, “Aunty, goodbye. I will talk to you later, okay!”
