Chapter 42. The Soulmate Reunion

The next day, Sienna went to a local bookstore in Vancouver with Cora. They wanted to go hunting for the new romance novels.
While searching for the book title that Sienna would like to read, she started the conversation, “Cora, I haven’t told you about something.”
Cora slightly glanced at her while walking ahead in the corridor. “Go on, tell me, my darling Sienna.”
Sienna took a deep breath for a second. She was kind of nervous to tell her.
When seeing how gawky Sienna looked like, Cor immediately snapped out, “Oh, my God! Don’t tell me this is about a boy!”
Sienna chuckled shyly. “Ugh, half true, but not really.”
“Come on, Sienna, don’t keep me at bay,” Cora admonished her impatiently. “Do you have a crush on someone right now?”
As Sienna paused, Cora also got stopped in between the bookshelves.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” Sienna warned her at first.
Cora pinched her eyes, bewildered. “Yeah, try me.”
Sienna walked closer to her. After she glanced back and forth around her, noticing the corridor was empty from other visitors, she quickly told her, “I met Daniel Wilson yesterday.”
Cora gasped the air, surprised. “Oh, my God! Did you see his face closely?”
Sienna smiled and nodded assuredly. “Yes, I did. He is a very good-looking man.”
“Damn it! If my class was ended a little earlier yesterday, I would have seen him in person too!” Cora said peevishly.
“You missed seeing him. And you missed the big epic moment that happened to me yesterday,” Sienna told her. “It was a huge embarrassment actually.”
Cora raised her eyebrows. Then she looked so excited to talk about it, “Tell me, please! I need to know everything that happened with you and him yesterday!”
“Okay, first of all, when I said I met Daniel, I really met him in person. We had a small talk at the coffee shop after I accidentally poured a little coffee on his expensive tweed blazer,” Sienna murmured agitatedly.
Cora stared in disbelief at her. “Oh, no, you didn’t do that!”
Sienna nodded assuredly as she said, “Unfortunately, I did. And I was so fricking embarrassed. Moreover, he refused my offer to laundry his blazer.”
“You have a big problem, little missy!” Cora snapped eagerly.
Sienna quickly put her dark hair behind her ear as she spoke, “My dad would say the same thing if I told him about this.”
“Of course, you told me that your dad is so protective of you! He would be so angry to know how clumsy you were!” Cora shouted out energetically again. “And it is Daniel Wilson we’re talking about…”
“Shush! Lower your voice down,” Sienna warned her as she whispered cautiously. “There’s something that my dad told me about him. Something that is not good.”
Cora narrowed her thick eyebrows, bewildered. “Not good as in what?”
“My dad is like a copywriter of various news in a small office in the city, so he said to me that he has many sources to access everything he needs to know about the world’s latest info,” Sienna told her warily.
“And?” Cora waited impatiently to know about it.
“And my dad somehow knows the rumor that the Wilson family is involved in illegal market businesses,” Sienna informed her. “That’s because the rumor said; they are the Romanian mafias. Do you believe that?”
Cora immediately shook her head. “No, I don’t! How could a pretty face like Daniel involves with the mafias and illegal businesses?”
Sienna sighed heavily and shrugged her shoulders at the same time. “Honestly, I have no idea at all. But if you just think for a second, do you think it even makes sense that he can be a billionaire at such a young age?”
Cora instantly nodded. “Of course, don’t you read romantic novels these days? Those fictional billionaires are young and handsome, like him.”
Sienna stared in disbelief at her. “Nonsense! Novels are fiction.”
“Maybe he is one of the luckiest people in the world,” Cora murmured. “I know, he is only twenty-three now. Maybe he doesn’t purely get his success from his effort. What about his family? The Wilson is wildly rich. His dad is a billionaire. And so, naturally, Daniel inherits his wealth.”
Sienna felt defeated by her best friend’s strong argument. She finally nodded to agree.
As Cora returned to exploring the books in the bookshelves, she asked her, “So, what do you feel after you met him yesterday? He does have a good personality, right?”
Sienna shrugged her shoulders as she followed her footsteps. Then she murmured, “I feel a little frightened of him, actually.”
Cora immediately got stopped and turned to see her. “Why would you feel frightened of him? It’s not like he would bite you. Unless he is a hot vampire…”
Sienna rolled her eyes and chuckled at her stupid joke.
“Is it because your dad told you the bad rumor about his family?” Cora wondered as she picked up one of the books on the wooden bookshelf.
“Part of it yes, and another part, I just feel clueless about him,” Sienna confessed. “His expression just looked so flat. It was hard for me to read him. And I could feel his icy cold stare at me, which is kind of frightening though.”
“Ugh, whatever! I’m a jealous prick anyway,” Cora muttered. “You’re so damn lucky to get to know him in person.”
Sienna found Cora’s temper was rather funny than scary. And at the end of their conversation, they giggled concurrently.
As Cora had found the books that she would like to purchase, she immediately went to the front desk to check out her shopping cart.
While waiting for Cora, Sienna went exploring to the bookshelves in the back of the room. She had not found what she would like to choose. There were hundreds of book titles available for her to pick. But she felt agitated when she was in a huge dilemma. Was it better to buy a romance book again like last month? Or should she just search for a motivational book in the next corridor?
Afterward, her mind wandered off to see what other option she could have in the next corridor. As soon as she walked there, she found various motivational books about self-care and random things about a psychology topic.
When she was in the middle of exploring the books, her peripheral eyes noticed there was a man walked into the corner of the corridor. When she stared up to see his familiar figure, she almost got a heart attack.
Sienna wanted to avoid him at all cost. She went panicking as her heart raced anxiously.
It was Daniel Wilson. Why would destiny bring them together again?
She was about to sneak out carefully before he noticed her existence in there. But then, she a little bit too late to run away.
He suddenly called out for her, “Miss Rozewood? Is that you?”
Sienna slowly turned to smile at him. She felt so awkward by the time he approached her closer. She hoped he didn’t realize that she actually wanted to avoid meeting him again.
“Are you here looking for your next read?” As he spoke, she could see his expression looked brightened up, unlike yesterday when she looked pretty on and off.
“Yeah, I am,” her voice was a bit shaking. “But I haven’t found what I want to read, so…”
“You’re into books too?” He wondered. And as he looked around, he said, “And psychology?”
“Although I’m a business student, I do like to read motivational books in my free time,” she talked awkwardly, then she added, “and also romance, sometimes.”
He kept grinning widely at her.
She didn’t know why Daniel looked very happy this time. But then she remembered; this was weekend. Maybe he finally had a leisure time for himself after such a hectic office work.
Moreover, he seemed to be interested to engage in a small talk with her, “You’re not only into flowers and clothes, huh? We share the same hobby after all. I like reading a book in my free time too.”
“What do you read, Mister Wilson?” Sienna wondered while she slightly stole a glance at Cora that was still waiting in line at the front desk.
He looked around again to pick up one of the books. “Just something to fill my weekend. Anything good like a travel guidebook.”
Her face turned brightened when he mentioned it. “Do you like travel too?” Oh, my… I’ve been dreaming to travel somewhere beautiful.”
He smiled quietly at her. “It seems we have something in common, apart from reading books.”
But then she sighed and blinked nervously. “Except that you can go anywhere you like. You have money. I don’t.”
“But you have the time,” he murmured. “I don’t.”
She paused when he could balance her words completely. And right at that moment, she felt a strong electric jolt got into her whole nervous system.
Sienna chuckled shyly as she put a strain of her hair back in her ear again. Then she said, “We keep on meeting like this by surprise. I feel this encounter is like a soulmate reunion.”
He was surprised when she told him that. It was the first time Sienna took him off guard.
“It’s weird but…” he murmured carefully, “I’m just thinking the same thing as you.”
Sienna chuckled. “Wow, the connection is just strange, I guess?” And then she quickly changed the topic before she felt more embarrassed, “So, Mister Wilson, I have to go now…”
“So soon?” It seemed that he didn’t want her to go yet.
She quickly glanced at Cora that almost finished paying for her books at the front desk.
“My best friend, Cora…” she pointed out at her, and he quickly followed her stare at the front desk over there, “we want to visit my favorite cookies store in the city. It’s such a long time I haven’t been there, so…”
Then he said, “Maybe we can go there together the next time. I’d love to go hang out with you and have a little talk again.”
She gawked and blinked nervously. “Oh, really? Aren’t you like… very busy?”
He chuckled. “I’ll try to make time to see you.”
There was a part of her that felt excited about meeting him again.
“Can you…” he quickly took out his phone from his pocket jeans, “give me your phone number? So, I can tell you when I’ll be available the next time…”
She grinned happily. It was the first time ever that a man asked to exchange a phone number with her. Then she quickly told him.
Before they separated their way, he said, “Alright, see you next time, *beautiful*.”
