Chapter 69. The Dilemma Heart
The next day, Cora came to help her working in her flower shop.
Cora was her first employee ever since she had been opening her flower shop for a while. Sienna wanted to help Cora to earn money since she knew it was very hard to get a job in the city. Nevertheless, Sienna kept her promise to her best friend.
While arranging a pretty bouquet for a customer, Sienna suddenly remembered again about a threat that Daniel gave her. At that moment, it was like her chest being hit by lightning thunder and she felt goosebumps.
She started feeling restless that morning. She almost forgot about the last conversation she had with him on the phone. This was the second day since he gave her a threat. He was threatening her to choose between her boyfriend or her dad. She had to choose between them to save either of them. But she didn’t want anything bad to happen to them. She wanted them to live well and safely.
“Hey, are you okay, Sienna?” Cora muttered beside her. She noticed her anxious expression at the time.
Sienna glanced at her and smiled. She tried to hide what she felt. Then she nodded and said, “Yeah, I’m okay, Cora.”
“Are you sure? Do you want me to handle the next customer?” Cora offered. “You can get rest or grab a coffee inside.”
Sienna grinned at her. Cora was really concerned about her wellbeing.
And soon, Sienna nodded. “Okay, take care of my customers caringly.”
“Sure, Boss,” Cora said wittily.
Then Sienna went inside her house. She walked toward the dining room to make a coffee.
At the time, the house felt quiet since Estelle and Aunty Milla already went away to the photo studio in the city. Estelle got another offer to be a freelance model again. And her mom accompanied her to go there.
As Sienna sat down at the dining table, her mind was wandering off. She was in a huge dilemma about what Daniel had said to her the last time.
For a moment, she recalled what he said on the phone to her.
*“You heard me. It’s your decision that will save either your boyfriend or your dad. Or you can actually save them both and have a peaceful life with me.”*
*“I can make your dad lose his job in London. And I can make your nerdy boyfriend be blacklisted from every workplace, including at his school where he teaches children.”*
*“I’m sure you don’t want to be the reason why they will lose their job, Baby.”*
*“Well, I didn’t say that I will hurt them, Baby. I will be just making them a little bit disappointed when they lose their job.”*
During her dilemma, Sienna suddenly wanted to call her dad, who was still residing in London. She wanted to ask him how he was holding up these days. They had been living separately and so far away from each other. Of course, Sienna missed him so much.
As soon as her phone call was connected to her dad’s phone number, she grinned happily.
“Dad! How are you? This is Sienna, your daughter,” she spoke yearningly to him.
She heard her dad cleared his throat before speaking on the phone, *“Oh, Sienna? I’m good. What about you? How’s New York today? Everything’s good, huh?”*
Sienna nodded. “Yeah, everything is good, Dad.”
Obviously, she was lying about it. How could her life be good when she was being threatened by a dangerous mafia? She had been feeling restless about it though. But she couldn’t let her dad know what happened to her life in New York at the time. She didn’t want to make her dad worried for her. She knew her dad already had a burden of life to deal with when living in London.
*“Well, my life’s here is just so-so, I guess. It’s not that fancy, and not that bad either. I have a workload to do though,”* her dad informed her. *“I have not been able to sleep peacefully because I have to work hard. But I think that’s okay. I’ve done this for us anyway.”*
“Dad, remember that I’m also working here. I’ve been paying my bills, and also for Estelle and Aunty Milla,” Sienna reminded him.
*“Well, you’re only paying half of the bills, darling. Don’t pout,”* her dad teased her.
“Yeah, I know. But my money also enough to make a living here for the three of us; me, Estelle, and Aunty Milla,” Sienna told him. “And Estelle gets a job as a freelance model, so that’s a relief for me.”
*“Wow, hold on a minute, Milla’s daughter is becoming a model in New York?”* Her dad sounded hugely surprised. *“Well, that’s a leap of faith. And that’s good news for her, huh?”*
Sienna nodded and smiled. “Yup, that’s good news for us all.”
*“So, are you calling me because you miss me, darling?”* Her dad chuckled.
Sienna giggled in return. “Ugh, yes, I’ve been missing you. I remember that you said you’d return home soon here to meet us.”
*“Yeah, darling, I’ll be coming home soon to meet you all. Right after I finish my job here, I will come back,”* her dad assured her.
Sienna nodded, relieved. “Okay, I hope you’ll be here soon. Bye dad, have a nice day.”
Afterward, they hang up on each other’s phone call.
For a moment, Sienna gazed out at the window. The view of the bright blue sky out there making her smiled. At least, she felt happy by just hearing her dad’s voice again.
But when she remembered again what Daniel said, her confidence level was dropping faster each time. She was anxious again to think about it.
Soon, she knew what she would decide. But she had to think it thoroughly. She didn’t want to make a stupid mistake since this was a matter of life and death.
And then she murmured to herself, “I think Jonathan can take care of himself. He is a big man now.”
Sienna sighed heavily as she rested her hand on her forehead. “I think I should choose it this way. I’ve got enough of this bullshit with Daniel.”
“What bullshit with him that you’re talking about, Ms. Wilson?” Cora teased her as she just walked inside the house.
Sienna jumped out of her chair. She was hugely surprised when Cora walked quietly toward the dining room.
“Cora! Gosh, you’re scaring me!” Sienna muttered peevishly.
“Tell me, what’s happening between you and Daniel?” Cora wondered.
“Cora, it’s a long story if I have to tell you about this problem that I have with him,” Sienna looked at her uncomfortably.
“Oh, come on, Sienna! Aren’t we still best friends with each other? Maybe I can help give you the solution,” Cora offered.
As soon as Cora sat down with her at the dining table, then Sienna looked at her solemnly, “Well, after I lost my memories, I only met Daniel again a month ago. He thought that I was pretending not to know him. And then he kidnapped me!”
“Holy shit, what?” Cora bulged her eyes out. “I can’t believe he would do something like that to you. And how did Jonathan end up working in his office back then?”
Sienna sighed heavily and answered her, “Jonathan is a school teacher, but a month ago, he wanted to try to be a stock trader. And then he got invited to an exclusive party where Daniel was also there. We met him there in the night pub.”
“What a tragedy, huh?” Cora murmured. “And what’s the problem now?”
“He’s been threatening me to choose between my boyfriend or my dad. He is crazy. He said he will make them lose their job if I don’t come back to him,” Sienna muttered emotionally.
“Well, then I suggest you save them and just come back to him. It’s not actually a big deal if you obey what he desires from you,” Cora assured her.
Sienna narrowed her eyebrows, annoyed at Cora for saying all that.
“Look, Sienna, I’m only saying this because I care for you. And since you’re still his legitimate wife, you are supposed to obey him as his respectful wife,” Cora added.
“So, what? I have to surrender myself to him?” Sienna muttered as she crossed her arms.
Cora nodded. “Yeah, not because you’ll lose yourself, it’s because you want to clear things up with him.”
Sienna gave it a thought. But what Cora said made sense though.
Then Sienna stared back at her and said, “Well, then, if this is the best thing that I should do to save the people that I love, I have to do it.”
“And what is it?” Cora wondered. “Will you come back to Daniel now?”’
Sienna sighed and murmured, “It may seem I choose my dad over my boyfriend, but I’m saving them both actually. I have to break up with Jonathan and come back to Daniel.”
“That’s your plan? Okay,” Cora understood. “I will have your back if you need my help.”
Sienna smiled and said, “Thank you, Cora.”
