Chapter 33. The Culprit’s Photo
**(Aunty Milla’s Perspective)**
Milla held her breath for a second. Her eyes stared closely at the photo that Jonathan showed her.
“Is… is this…” she couldn’t even finish her words. Her mouth gawked nervously.
Jonathan sighed heavily as he put down away his phone from her sight. And then he talked quietly to her, “Yes, this is the mafia that kidnapped Sienna in Canada. I will try to find out more about his background. It’s…”
“Wait a minute, Jonathan,” her lips trembled as she spoke. “How could you know that this was the mafia who kidnapped my niece?”
“It’s… it’s complicated actually,” he looked nervous when she questioned him.
“Just tell me. All the details that I need to know,” she said firmly to him.
“Ms. Moss, please stay back. I will try my best to handle this problem by myself,” Jonathan assured her.
Milla instantly chuckled at his face. She was underestimating him when he said that.
“No, you can’t Jonathan. You can’t even handle our bills with your teacher salary,” she mocked him sarcastically. She didn’t care about his feeling, she just kept blurting out the harsh words in his face, “You couldn’t even protect Sienna while she was away in Canada, without knowing that she was actually being kidnapped there.”
Jonathan stared down while she kept on admonishing him. He didn’t want to lose her respect. He still wanted to fight for his future with Sienna.
Eventually, he could only say, “I’m sorry, Ms. Moss.”
“Now, tell me everything you know about this dangerous man,” she emphasized every word clearly to him.
“It’s actually only a rumor, about him being a mafia gangster. Because, I honestly don’t know all the details that you want to know, except that…” he looked terrified to tell her. He was afraid if she would despise him afterward.
“Come on, Jonathan, don’t waste my time. Just be on the point,” she admonished him.
Although his heart was racing anxiously, he nodded and finally told her, “I actually know this man from the stock exchange party in the city. I introduced myself to him, I really wanted to work in his mega corporation.”
“Oh, yeah, I have heard this part about you,” she said while still crossing her arms. “Congratulation, Jonathan, on your new job.”
“Yeah, it’s actually just a side job, I’m still an elementary school teacher,” he informed her. “And about him…”
Milla opened her eyes and ears widely against him. She had to know everything clearly.
“But I don’t think you want to congratulate me that much, Ms. Moss. Because that man is my boss,” he confessed to her.
“Your boss? The owner of the mega corporation?” She smirked. “Gosh, you are not even being upfront to me. You haven’t told me his name and his corporation.”
Jonathan blinked nervously. And then he told her, “His name is Daniel Wilson.”
As soon as Jonathan mentioned his name, Milla already knew. Her heart pounded fast. She knew that man was the same person who she used to meet.
*Daniel Wilson.*
She knew him too well to forget him. All the memories she had of him suddenly flashed inside her mind. She used to meet him almost all the time. Until the moment they had to be separated, she stopped seeing him again.
And then she heard Jonathan told her, “And he is the owner of the Wilson Enterprises.”
Milla nodded. “I’ve heard before.”
“Oh, so you knew?” Jonathan noticed that she kind of looked nervous about it.
Milla flinched. But she tried to look steady in front of him. “Kind of. Isn’t he the famous business man of the year?”
Jonathan nodded and said, “Yeah, that’s true. He got featured twice this year as the most successful business man. It’s just hard to believe that Sienna told me he was…”
“What? Are you doubting your girlfriend now?” Milla asked resentfully.
Jonathan surprised when Milla was angry at him about that. “No, I… I mean…”
“You should be careful too. Do your background check properly by the next time you want to work somewhere,” Milla admonished him again. “Got it?”
He nodded obediently. He didn’t dare to talk back to her.
“Just go home, Jonathan. I’ll take care of Sienna from here,” Milla demanded him as she dragged him to the doorsill.
“About Daniel…”
He was about to say something, but Milla immediately cut him off, “You’re going to work in his office again, aren’t you?”
Jonathan nodded fast at her. But then he shook his head afterward. He was confusing himself at the time.
Milla chuckled as she said, “You said that he is a mafia. Then you better watch your back.”
“Of course. I think I should just resign and report him to the cops,” Jonathan said.
“Don’t be a superhero when you can’t even stand on your feet without trembling like this,” she snapped cynically. “He is a mafia. He can do something worse if you are not playing by his right rule…”
“Damn it!” He cursed out as he suddenly remembered something. “You’re right, Ms. Moss. If I call the cops immediately, he will notice that I know what happens with Sienna,” he then told her with his circumstance, “Daniel doesn’t know that I brought Sienna back to New York. He only knows that I’ve been working hectically at his office and meeting his clients during the weekend!”
Milla narrowed her eyebrows. She got baffled by what he was saying to her.
“Alright, I promise I will be careful, Ms. Moss!” He swore to her. “I will see his next movement carefully. And I will watch my back also!”
“Good, Jonathan. You’re mature enough to take care of your own life,” Milla murmured. “And about Sienna, let me just take care of her by myself, got it?”
Jonathan slightly licked his dry lips as he blinked confusedly at her. Then he asked, “Why?”
She blinked. “Just because…”
Then he shouted quickly, “I am her boyfriend. I also want to take care of her.”
“Sure, you do,” Milla smiled at him this time. “But not today, honey. Your job is to look out for Daniel’s movement, and then report back to me,” she said firmly. “So now, tell me, which part of my words that you don’t understand yet, huh?”
Jonathan took a deep breath as he stared back at her. “I do understand everything that you said, Ms. Moss. It’s just…” he blinked nervously. “I will miss Sienna.”
“You will do. But right now, I suggest you will not disturb her time. She needs a lot of time to regain her peace of mind from the nightmare she had went through,” she said firmly.
What she said was unnegotiable. And Jonathan didn’t want to argue with her for more. And soon after, he said his farewell to her and left the house.
As Milla immediately closed the front door, Estelle was watching her from the staircase.
“I heard that!” Estelle shouted out alertly.
Milla glanced at her, surprised. Then she snapped back, “Oh, look at there. A little bit sneaky, aren’t you?”
Estelle walked toward her and asked away, “Is it true? What Jonathan just told you? The mafia who kidnapped Sienna in Canada was Daniel Wilson? Oh, my God!”
Milla sighed heavily. And then she asked curiously, “What do you know about Daniel?”
“Gosh, Mom! Didn’t you know? He is like the most wanted bachelor of every woman in the world! He is a handsome billionaire!” Estelle informed her. “But I can’t believe…”
“You’re so childish, falling for something mundane like that,” Milla muttered while puckering her pink lips. “And remember, he is the evil mafia who kidnapped your cousin!”
“Gosh, I can’t believe if that’s the truth about him,” Estelle muttered sadly. “But Sienna has not confirmed it yet. We have to hear the story more from her side!”
“Let her rest in her bedroom. She will tell us soon when she is ready,” Milla reminded her.
Estelle took a deep breath and half smiled. “Yeah, you’re right, Mom.”
Milla caressed her shoulder afterward.
“Sienna seems different. She tries to look cool, but I know that she’s hurt from the inside,” Estelle told her quietly.
Milla slightly stole a glance at Sienna’s bedroom door upstairs. And then she stared back at her daughter to say, “You know how Sienna is. She may look strong, but she’s actually fragile. She always tries to look tough and thinks almighty in front of us. She thinks she’s paying all the bills for all of us, but actually, we know that…”
Estelle nodded as she shouted back, “Yeah, I know. Her father that has been helping us. And after that, we’re the one that helping them in return.”
Milla sighed again. “If only Sienna wants to admit the truth. She only works halfway to help herself. We’re the one that helping her to stand up after her worse accident the last time.”
“I hope everything is going to be okay for her. She seems so exhausted. She doesn’t want to talk it out with me earlier,” Estelle told her quietly.
Milla smiled warmly to her and whispered, “She will. Trust me.”
