Aziel en Lorrich
My son is absolutely handsome, his features are a mix of Loraine and me, he is the epitome of our love. His hair is clearly a blend of my blond and his mother's black hair, his complexion is tan but that could be the result of the Caribbean sun. His blue eyes are clearly mine, but his confident demeanor clearly comes from both parents. It is genetic. I smile blissfully as I stare at him from afar.
I take my phone out of my pocket, zoom in the lens and snap a few shots of him. Tonight, I'll show Anele her brother, I'm sure she'll be over the moon. I watch as the group moves to one of the fast-food restaurants at the airport, my son seems like a real foodie. There is another man there, as the journalist had indicated, he seems so gay. Wait, I had met him that night in Barbados, he had brought Loraine home the first time I met her on the island.
I keep staring at Lorrich, even his name is a mix of his mom and me. Loraine has clearly done a masterful job with his parentage and upbringing. He seems to be comfortable with everyone around him and the elders are indeed protective of him. Before long, he will also get to know me and Anele, a new dimension in his life. But we too will shower him with the same love that the people around him now give. After observing my son for half an hour, I decide to go home and rest a bit. Hopefully, Elena is not there, since she filed for divorce, she lives elsewhere but has the annoying tendency to come back home for a few days. Her excuse is that she is coming to visit Anele because her daughter doesn't want to leave with her. Anele is really a daddy's baby, she loves her mother but still prefers to be near me.
Slowly I drive home, the roads are almost deserted because the peak hour is over. My thoughts go to Aziel, my worst rival. I'll have to get him out of the picture, he's a hindrance between the reunion between Loraine and me. This man has been in love with my woman for years, it was previously discussed in private circles. He continued to work with her despite being severely boycotted by Danner Winfield, who aggressively fought competition. Yeah, that Danner, his idiocy really got him in trouble.
The burning jealousy is coming back, I want to have my son and his mother with me, I have to find a way to convince Loraine to give our family a chance. That's for the best for our son.
Jealousy makes people unpredictable, makes us commit acts that we sometimes regret later on. But for now, I have to give this feeling a place and I can only do that if I give in to it. I stop along the road, grab my phone and find a photo of Loraine standing next to Lorrich. I deftly wipe the people around them and add a photo of myself to theirs so that Loraine and I are on opposite sides of a happily smiling Lorrich. In the end it looks like a picture of a happy family. I doubt whether I will also include Anele, but decide negatively, maybe at a later stage I will do that. I find Loraine's number and add my masterpiece to her number and press 'send'. I watch it charge and then take off.
I grin. Loraine will respond soon and then I can reassure her that I only want to portray our happy family. I wait a while but there's no response, maybe she's still busy and didn't notice my message. With a sigh I merge back into traffic on my way home, my mind completely occupied with my children.
Loraine
My son has arrived and all the people important to him are now around him. He is so happy, no child experiences as much love like him. I, therefore, wonder how he will react to the news about Dordrich. He has accepted Aziel so easily, I think it has to do with the love for me he feels with my fiancé. At the exit he recognized Aziel right away from the video call, it clicked between the two instantly and a hug went off naturally. He also grabbed Aziel's hand to walk to the restaurant and exuberantly told that he likes mashed potato and butter biscuits.
Aziel was more than willing to treat him to that.
We adults ordered a bucket of fried chicken, Kaylah eats for three, so it became a family pack. Lorrich is the center of our interest, so we had nothing to discuss with each other yet. He is so lively, demands all of our attention. He insisted on sitting between Aziel and me, was clearly hungry when the mashed potato was finally served. “Mommy, on the plane the flight attendant brought Broccoli who was so brown. And it didn't smell good either," he says. “And there was meat. Daddy Andre likes red meat, but I don't”.
We laugh at his pouty face, he stuffs himself with the delicious biscuits. His whole face is soon covered with crumbs, which Aziel likes to wipe off for him. Strangely, when I wanted to do that for him before, he always frantically shook his head as he informed me that I was already big enough to do it himself. But now with Aziel, he holds up his face patiently to be helped.
Well, it seems as if Aziel just filled a vacancy. I think this pair is going to be interesting.
And then I hear the notification beep on my phone. Messages arrived. Now that everyone of any importance to me is here at the table, I wonder who that could be. I lift the device and see a message from Alyssa and Dordrich. Aahhh, the two people I can spare like a toothache right now. Alyssa wants to speak to me urgently and says to call in the evening...
