Pregnant Also
Andre's POV
Dale thinks he's got everything to his liking.
Confidently, he arranged an extravagant vacation for both of us, paying for everything himself. And now we are at the airport on our way to the tropical island of Curacao. He gave me our vacation schedule and I only see expensive activities that we will undertake. An island sightseeing in a fully loaded touring bus, water scooter race, ostrich egg hunt and then a romantic boat trip at night. We stay two nights on Curacao before we travel on to Suriname, his homeland where the wonderful black water and traditional Maroon villages await us.
Dale has it all done.
Although I enjoy the mighty sex, I have not forgotten my mission. My focus is to know what he is actually up to, what his relationship is with Clairy and if they are partners in crime. My goal is to protect my son and that is directly linked to the happiness of Aziel and Loraine. If these two are happy, Lorrich's future is bright and secure, and I have nothing to worry about but staying present in his life. Barbados and my yacht club remain his home, his solid foundation.
But I suspect danger from Dale.
Dale is evil, there is nothing good in him and selfish as he is, he will not think twice to pursue his own interests. Coming back to me and spending that much money makes me even more suspicious, this isn't really him. There is certainly more to it. So, I play the game along.
He has kept his word, he openly states that he is gay now and admits that I am his partner. He also introduces me to his friends, which he didn't do before. He goes out of his way to make me feel comfortable. But still, I have not found out where he suddenly comes with so much money. When he was in the bathroom last night, I went to look through his things. Except for some brand new banknotes, I haven't found anything out of the ordinary. But I am patient.
“Do cruise ships also dock in Curaçao? I thought I had read something about that” I ask him, leafing through a magazine. He looks up from his phone, which he had been fiddling with for the last twenty minutes. I make a mental note that I have to find out the code of the device, the answer to his show-off might be there. “Want to go cruising? That can be arranged. Which way do you want to go? The Bahamas, Mexico?” he asks right away. That is also something new with him, he wants to serve me at my beck and call. Not buying that.
"Not really. I'm only asking because the island is so close to Miami," I answer lightly. “I can't stay away too long, my son gets restless if he doesn't see me for a long time. Video calling doesn't really help and I don't want him to keep Loraine busy.” I'm watching him closely now, his reaction to the mention of Loraine's name. And there it is. He stares, keeping his gaze fixed in the distance as if pondering how to proceed in this conversation.
“I read that the boy still bears Loraine's name. Why didn't you legitimize him? You have to shoulder your responsibilities, Andre. It doesn't look good to bring a child into the world and withhold him your name," he responds firmly. Nope, I'm sure he doesn't mean this. He hates Loraine and Lorrich's well-being is the last thing on his mind. He's so fake.
And he thinks I'm Lorrich's biological father? Well, no problem with that. If he finds out the truth, I'll probably be away from his side for a long time. “Aaahh, he’s assured of my deep love and that's the most important thing for him. He knows I'm always there for him, and that's what he needs in life, love and honesty.”
Eat that, Mr. fake!
Then I hear a beep from my phone, simultaneously with the call from the check-in desk that it is time to board. As I get up and grab the handle of my trolley, I fumble in my pockets for my phone. I look at the notification bar and see that it is a message from Loraine. But I decide to go through the check-in first so as not to hold up Dale and others in line. On the plane, before departure, I’ll have some minutes to reply to her text.
With Dale's hand around my waist, I go through check-in and walk through the warm trunk to the waiting plane. Business class, in style of course, Dale won't cut corners on his plan to convince me of his authenticity. When we are finally comfortable in our seats, I take my phone again to read Loraine's text. Code off and I open the message.
What I read there is best after Lorrich's birth.
With a loud happy scream I jump out of my seat. “Lady, everyone a glass of wine at my expense!” I yell at the flight attendant. She comes running, she can't believe her ears. “Did you say I have to serve the whole plane with a glass of wine and you pay for it?” she repeats just to be sure.
“You're damn right!” I scream out, now standing in the aisle. She brings the bottle of wine for me to inspect and I agree. It's five hundred dollars a bottle of well-known brand and she pulls out ten bottles. This will be her best sales flight.
When everyone is served a glass of wine, a man yells at me from behind the plane. “What is the occasion, what exactly are we drinking?”
“My sister Loraine and her husband Aziel are pregnant! I'm going to be a father again”, I indicate overjoyed with my glass in the air. At first, there is misunderstanding shown on the faces, but then everyone relaxes as they analyze my words better. “Congrats, my man! To the happiness of your family,” another man says loudly and receives general support in this.
When I look at Dale now, I see disbelief and shock on his face. “Loraine is also pregnant? You're glad it's from Aziel? Have you gone mad, Andre?” he rebukes me.
‘Pregnant also’, I immediately register.
