The Island

Aziel holds his breath, waiting for her complete sentence.
“But it feels so right with you. And the warmth of your body feels so familiar,” Loraine finishes her sentence. A happy smile comes across Aziel's face, this is definitely what he had been waiting for since he met her again here in Costa Rica. Her subconscious recognizes him. They were soul mates before, and that proves its strength now. The man can't believe his luck, Loraine now demonstrates to him that he is not a substitute for that Fellogan she was so in love with, nor for the Danner she had already left him for once.
“Woman! You don't know how happy these words make me. I've waited years for this confession to really feel like your man," he slips in his euphoria. Loraine sits up but doesn't let him go out of it. “You make those strange comments, Aziel. I get the feeling like you already knew me and kept it hidden. Have you known me for years?” she asks him urgently. Aziel kisses her on the tip of her nose. “I just really met you now. At this moment, I see the woman in front of me who really loves me, not as a replacement or to fill a void in her life," he explains. “You are the woman of my dreams, always was, always will,” he says ambiguously.
To end the conversation, he stands up, pulling up her by the hand. “Let's have something to eat before we reach the island. A snack or something with juice,” he suggests. Hands intertwined, they walk down the deck to the dining area. Michel has already covered some snacks there on the table. Aziel fills a plate for her and they sit on a couch together. Playfully, Loraine tries to put a meatball in Aziel's mouth, but he takes her hand in a light grip. The meatball goes in his mouth and he licks her fingers clean.
Loraine looks at him in shock. His tongue licking her fingers brings up feelings she hasn’t felt lately. A warmth creeps through her body, she looks at Aziel full of expectation. He smiles softly and gives her a quick kiss. “Time to cool off in the sea. We swim to the island there. Andre has previously built a hut where we can make a campfire. There are also hammocks,” he explains. While walking to the stairs, he takes her by the hand.
They jump in the cold blue waters, Aziel catches her when she resurfaces. Together they swim to the beach. The moonlight on the water shows them the way to the island. They light a fire and lie down in a hammock when they arrive. “Tell me about your life, Loraine. From what you can remember. You said you left New York. What were you doing in New York?” asks Aziel, softly wrapping a stray hair around his finger. She lies on top of him in the hammock as it gently rocks. This free time is the ultimate opportunity to find out how she fared.
She leans more comfortably against him, her eyes focusing on the dark distances. “What I can remember is that I was alone in the hospital and I had to check out. Danner was waiting for me and we drove to the yacht. He told me that I had to rest well to recover because I was mentally unbalanced due to the loss of my child," she says absently. “After that we just traveled, from one island to another. Until I met you here."
“Don't you have any family? Husband and kids? Or is it just Danner?” he asks her. She nods. “Danner says I have him alone. I'm an orphan, we fell in love when I turned eighteen and have been inseparable since then," Loraine tells him. “But something isn't right with his stories,” she tells herself more. Aziel's heart starts to beat again, he is curious if she remembers anything about him. “What's wrong, then?” he asks with bated breath.
“When I got out of the hospital, I had two rings on my finger. One was an engagement ring, the other was a regular band with "Lorrich" engraved on it. When I pointed out to Danner that he wasn't wearing a ring, he took my ring and said he'd keep it in the safe with his," she says, lost in thought. “Why don't we wear our engagement rings if we're going to tell everyone we're a couple? Why do the rings stay in a safe? And who is Lorrich?”
There is silence between the two for a while, Aziel is unable to give an explanation at the moment. And besides, it seems like she has more to reveal. “And the welts on my stomach, some of them are not fresh. There are a few scars that run deep, clearly have been on my body for years. Which makes me think I have more kids. But where are they? Don't they miss their mother?”. The latter comes out emotionally, unshed tears are in her eyes.
Aziel feels her grief. He understands that she is worried about her child, Lorrich misses her every day. And right now he regards guilty and selfishness for not putting her out of her misery. But he knows that Lorrich is safe, he wants to grab this opportunity to strengthen their relationship. “Have you let Danner know your doubts? He must have a good explanation if he's known you for years," he tells her.
She shakes her head. “No, I don't want to say anything wrong to him. If he knows I'm suspicious, he'll try to hide a lot more from me," she says. Suddenly she looks up at Aziel. “Let's not talk about such serious matters but enjoy the evening. I feel so happy with you.” Aziel smiles and hugs her tightly. “We can go to Barbados for a few weeks if you want. Andre has a Yacht Club there. Life there could well distract you. You might as well start a new life on the island.”..
