A Thief

Barbados is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Aziel is the model fiancé, we bought our rings in the local jeweler's shop today. And tonight, we celebrate our official engagement with our friends.
Michelle and Rick also live in Barbados, Rick is the manager of Andre's Yacht Club. They are also our neighbors and visit often. I soon noticed that these friends were very close. Kaylah and Archer leave tomorrow for New York, they stayed with us for a week in this spacious villa by the sea. Aziel did not exaggerate when he described the house, the wind blows wonderfully here on the back terrace and the view over the ocean is soothing.
I'm on the back patio drinking coffee with Kaylah. She is an outspoken personality, rap of tongue, but a heart of gold. She always takes care of me, always wants to know where I'm going, what I'm doing, who I'm talking to. Not that it bothers me, but it's noticeable for someone who's only known me for a week. Or not?
Aziel has not given me a conclusive answer about the many strange comments made by our friends. They still slip things that make me think they haven't met me for the first time, that we've been friends for years. Like, when I asked Archer what his work in New York entails. He explained to work for a large software company, he's the acting director. The owner is a woman who has taken a long vacation.
And Kaylah is the director of a prestigious mall. But it is striking that they are all on the supervisory boards of each other's companies. Aziel also has a say in the company Archer works for. Well, I think this group of friends is missing someone, Kaylah and Archer's employer.
“Kaylah, I'm thinking of having a hobby. Cooking. After the adventure on the island, I'm now thinking about taking some cooking lessons, but then exclusive cuisine," I let her know. She insists that I look for a hobby, a distraction to avoid worrying about exposing the past for a long time. She is therefore delighted with my announcement. "Really? That would be great. They have good hospitality schools here that teach you a lot within two years,” she says. We smile at each other, I know she's going to fix everything right away to get me into one of the best schools.
That's how she always does it.
All I have to do is say what I want or she'll jump up and get it done. Money is never a problem. She comes across to me as a dedicated secretary who's at my disposal all the time. But hey, as long as she enjoys it, I'm not complaining.
Michelle is coming to pick us up to go shopping and do our makeup. I want to look beautiful tonight, Aziel has to fall in love with me a second time when he puts the ring on my finger later. I'm looking forward to that, officially being his fiancée.
The doorbell rings and we grab our bags to meet Michelle at the door.
She has arrived with Andre's Maserati, we all get in. “Let's go to the capital. We can find some exclusive clothes there,” suggests Michelle. We nod approvingly, like a natural island dweller, she knows the way better than we do. Indeed, the boutique sells breathtaking creations. I don't have to be afraid to see another woman appear in my suit, the designer made only one of each piece.
I chose a sexy jumper with lush pants, the top has an open back, my narrow waist is also partially exposed. Everything is held together with a wide ribbon. Red looks good on me. Only my blond hair doesn't really match my gray eyes. I'm thinking of dyeing my hair fire red now.
We now go to the hairdresser who also does our makeup.
“I want my hair bright red, please”, I tell the hairdresser as I rummage through my locks. She puts a wig on me so I can see the effect before I start my new journey as a redhead. “Hmm, not bad. I think I do it”, I give her the green light to proceed.
“Why don't you do your original color again? Black looked good on you," the hairdresser responds casually. I freeze in my chair, closely watching her in the mirror in front of me. “My hair used to be black? Danner said I'm a blonde," I ask her strangely.
She shakes her head. “No, you've always had a black head. I always took care of it for you when you lived here”, she exclaims confidently. I sit still, not making any noise. Have I lived in Barbados before? Aziel didn't tell me about that. That's why some of the scenes here look familiar to me.
“Go red”, I tell her and she immediately gets to work. My mind is now working overtime. Why did Michelle never say anything about that? Everyone acts as I came here for the first time. If I lived in the same house, was Aziel here with me? “I hope Aziel likes it. We're officially engaged tonight and I want to look different for him," I let her know, triggering to give me more insights.
She smiles incredulously. “Come on, Loraine. You know that Aziel likes everything about you. The man loves you, worships the ground you walk on. Are you going to redo your engagement? Isn't it time to make it a wedding party now?" she asks with a laugh. A storm of emotions run through me. So, I was engaged to Aziel once? So that means we knew each other before he showed up in Costa Rica. Did he come looking for me and find out I was engaged to Danner at the time?
But why isn't he telling me the truth now? What exactly is going on?
I decide to play along, I need to know what Aziel is planning, where he wants to go with this facade. Because everything indicates that I was already in love with him in my past, and when I met him in my current life, I fell head over heels for him again.
Aziel is a thief.
A thief of my heart...
