My Baby
"Daddy!"
Lorrich runs towards his father on his chubby baby feet and throws himself confidently in his arms. Andre cleverly catches him and places him over his head so that he sits comfortably on his shoulders. “Come and see what mommy made. She repainted my whole room so beautiful,” he tells his father in his baby language, wobbling to encourage Andre to walk faster in the house. He's impatient to show him how nice his room has turned out after Loraine's total makeover.
Yesterday they went to the furniture store where Lorrich could choose his own new bed and cupboards. The guy turned out to know exactly what he wanted and combined the colors perfectly. Tomorrow is his fourth birthday and Loraine throws him a big kids party. Almost all children from his toddler and swimming school are invited, including those from the immediate vicinity. Nothing has been left out to dress his Batman theme party as great as possible. Andre wants the best for his son and has even decorated the yacht club, much to Lorrich's delight.
Loraine gave him his new room as a present. She does everything herself for her son, she painted the room and applied the Batman and other cartoon characters on the wall. Lorrich can't believe his luck. When he arrives at his room with Andre, he slides impatiently off his back and rushes into the room where Loraine is installing the curtain rails on a staircase.
“Daddy look, all those colors. Batman is with me every night now so I don't have to be afraid for the dark anymore," he says proudly. He has also chosen the colors for his room himself, a blue mix of green. He allowed Loraine to choose the color of his bedroom door and to the great surprise of father and son, she chose yellow. That has caused some discussion, but Loraine stuck to her choice and pointed out to her son that he has given her permission to take any color she wanted. In the end, her two boys had to accept it, the door is now yellow and the blue-green when entering is very surprising.
Joyfully Lorrich circles in his new space. “Wait for daddy Archer to come tonight. He’ll be shocked by how beautiful mom has made it here," he chats. “And auntie Kaylah and Michelle won't believe their eyes.”
Yes. Archer and Kaylah especially come to Barbados to celebrate their godson's birthday. Lorrich has three godparents, Andre is also one of them. And yes, Andre is the father figure in Lorrich's life, his biological father is Dordrich Fellogan who knows nothing about his existence. After her nervous breakdown five years ago, she was already three months pregnant. Due to the tensions during that period, she completely missed the signals. After the initial shock, an immense joy came over her after she received the news from the doctor. She would then no longer be alone as she feared. Her son would be her comfort and treasure and indeed he has become everything she needed. Every day Loraine pinches her cheek to make sure that she is not dreaming and that this happiness is real.
After she had recovered sufficiently, she was told that Aziel had left Windrug&So and that she urgently needed to appoint new leadership. Kaylah had temporarily taken over in charge, but it was untenable to manage two fast-growing companies at the same time. Archer's own company went bankrupt and he was very willing to run Windrug&So with support from Kaylah. And it went great. After two years, Kaylah and Archer got married and now have a one-year-old son, Kasher. Lorrich takes care of him like a big brother much to the amusement of the elders.
Andre was heartbroken once again, but he knew there was a good chance that the straight Archer wouldn't get into a gay relationship easily. In the meantime, he's over it and is now fully focused on fatherhood and Lorrich, who makes good use of it.
No one talks about Dordrich Fellogan and Aziel Renegade, knowing that this brings back painful memories for Loraine. Loraine has also not confessed to her son that Andre is not his real father. She wants to give him an undisturbed childhood and postpone it until he is older and can better understand the story. Also, she is afraid of bullying from his peers when everyone knows that Andre is only his godfather and he does not know who his real father is. So, she made a deal with all her closest friends not to mention these two names anymore and all have agreed to cooperate.
After the first failed attempt to win her back, Dordrich tried again.
At that time, Loraine was five months pregnant, but luckily there was little of that to be seen. She knew she had to protect her baby from the convictions that wouldn't be limited to Barbados. If Dordrich knew she was carrying his child, he would claim his son, she was so sure of that. That would again get media attention, pictures of her and the baby would adorn the tabloids and that would cause tremendous mental damage to her son. So, when he approached her again, she firmly informed him that she was no longer interested in him and that he should stay away from her. She had no intention of continuing the relationship and designated Andre as her new life partner.
Dordrich had stared at her in shock, their love for each other was too deep to believe she could replace him so easily. But Loraine was unwavering. In the end, he left helplessly and made her promise to come back to him anytime if it turned out she was mistaken.
And Aziel.
With tears in her eyes, Loraine often thinks back to Aziel. It wasn't until her pregnancy that she realized how much she missed and loved him. More often, she was about to call and beg him to come back to her. But then she remembered that he has a girlfriend with whom he started a new life. She didn't want a repeat of the same mistake like with Dordrich. But more often she thinks of him and then bursts into tears about this lost love.
The New York tabloids she avoids like the plague to save herself of all sorts of pain. Her new life is now in Barbados, with her son and her loyal friends around her. Loraine knows that the day she has to return to New York is inevitable. But she's putting that off for now...
