Just Sign

“Loraine!”
The name echoes through the conference room of the Fellogan Building. Loraine, accompanied by Kaylah, Archer, and Alyssa, have just walked in and are now thoughtfully examining the shareholders present one by one. She walks straight to Dordrich who is sitting at the head of the table.
“Mr. Fellogan”, she greets him formally with an outstretched hand. He grabs it like a drowning man a lifebuoy. "What are you doing here? If you've come to speak to me, let me postpone the meeting for a moment," he says breathlessly, staring at her insistently.
"Not necessary. I have come to participate in this meeting. More than half of the shares of Fellogan Holding are mine.” Loraine signs Kaylah who hands Dordrich a copy of the legalized shares. He examines it in astonishment and turns back to her. “You bought my company's stock? Why? Or can I guess that?” he asks. A glimmer of hope lights up in his eyes.
Loraine looks at him closely. Dordrich has aged in recent years, with long strands of gray hair now appearing in his still thick head of hair. The lines in his face are deep as if he spends continuous nights without sleep. In addition, he is much slimmer than she can remember him. According to the information handed to Loraine, he is addicted to alcohol, which may be the reason for his older look.
“No, Mr. Fellogan, I don't think you could know my reason. We haven't communicated in years without you being able to read minds from hundreds of miles away," she jokes. She beckons the administrative assistant in the room to add two more chairs to the head of the table where Dordrich and another older man, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Holding, are sitting. Loraine and Kaylah take a seat next to Dordrich. Alyssa found a place in a corner of the room, she has the status of a spectator.
When everyone is focused back on business, Dordrich introduces Loraine to the rest of the audience. Everyone seems to know her and they nod meekly. She and Dordrich's scandal is not forgotten in New York. The latter cannot take his eyes off her, much to the amusement of everyone in the room.
“I was informed that the management is about to file for bankruptcy. I'd like it to be postponed. Here's a feasible plan to save this company from destruction. The investment is huge, but I dare to take it upon myself. Of course, in the form of a new share issue that will be allocated to me in total”, Loraine begins. She signs Kaylah to hand over a copy of the detailed plan to those present. Loraine has clearly done her homework. A consultant presented her a report on the challenges media companies are facing in the current high-tech boom. Recommendations are included which should be matched with the current situation of the companies under the Fellogan Holding. After an assessment study, it will be necessary to examine how these recommendations of the consultant can be implemented in the individual media companies. The investment is huge, but the profit analysis is very attractive.
The representatives of the major shareholders at the table skim the report. Important are the investment capital and the expected return. “Miss Windrug, are you going to carry the investment capital alone? In the current state of the Holding, nobody wants to invest money in the company, neither the shareholders nor the financing institutions. Do you want to bear the risks alone?” asks an older man with glasses on the tip of his nose. “I am willing to buy your shares for the purchase price,” she offers.
Immediately there is commotion in the room. Everyone knows that the Fellogan shares are now worthless while many bought them when the corporate group was performing at its peak. The difference per share is huge. Loraine looks at the man confidently, waiting for his decision.
“There are only eight major shareholders left, of which you own the majority, Loraine. After my family, there are six more represented here. Do you want to buy all the shares?” Dordrich asks incredulously.
Archer, who has been silent all along, grows impatient. “Loraine's offer is valid for a short period of time. Anyone who decides to sell to Windrug within an hour from now will receive the purchase price. We await the offers. It's a cash deal," he says. Again, there is a buzz through the room, the men discuss with each other what their best options are.
Dordrich seizes the tumult to turn to Loraine. “Why should you pay the purchase price? The shares are virtually worthless. If we had filed for bankruptcy, everyone would most likely be whistling about their investment," he says, shaking his head incomprehensibly. According to him, it is wasting money by bidding more than the shares are worth.
A coffee lady comes by with some soft drinks, while the other shareholders are deliberating.
Dordrich takes Loraine's hands in his. “Princess, are you back for good now? I missed you so much. Our penthouse is exactly how you left it and your car is repaired,” he says softly. A mysterious smile escapes Loraine's lips. “The penthouse and car belonged to me, you gifted them to me. Please, give me the keys, Dordrich, you can't get there without an invitation anymore," she lets him know.
Dordrich is clearly startled by her words. “You're throwing me out? That was the house where we used to meet and have lots of good memories. We can go there again after this meeting, Princess” he whispers intimately.
“No, the house and the car, basically everything you ever gave me, are no longer mine. They have changed hands. Now, put the keys on the table, please” she tells him. Before he can continue on the subject, Loraine turns to Kaylah. She now puts a statement on the table for Dordrich in which he officially distances himself from all material things that he gave Loraine as a present. When Dordrich reads the document he sees the name of one Lorrich A. Windrug as the new owner of all the property.
He raises an eyebrow questioningly. “Just sign it. You had already given me everything, this is just a formality,” Loraine insists, her face grim. Dordrich decides to do as she wishes, wanting to avoid tension between them. Later he will question her further about this state of affairs. After signing the document, he sees a satisfied expression on Loraine's face. Kaylah quickly puts it away as the other attendees have come to a decision. Everyone decided to sell to Lorrich A. Windrug....
