Everything Will Be Alright

When I arrive at the prestigious hospital, the press is of course bivouacking there again.
“Loraine, what exactly are you doing here?”, “Are you here for Dordrich or Elena?”, “Do you have any shame, Loraine? The man is with his lawful wife!” are some of the questions yelled at me. In the meantime, photos of my arrival are being taken diligently. In the distance I see Alyssa looking straight at me. I'm sure I'll have some tough questions to answer in a few hours. There is really nothing that escapes this journalist.
Fortunately, Dordrich has provided enough security to help me through the paparazzi so that I can safely get out of the parking lot in the hospital. I am led to a special ward for VIP patients and when I enter I see Dordrich sitting defeated with his wife's hand in his. When he lifts his head and sees me, he jumps up and takes me in his arms. “Ooohhh, Loraine, she's laying there so peacefully, like everything is passing her by. This is terrible!”, he says in a choked voice. He leads me to the bed where I see the woman I saw him with the first night we met.
He caresses his wife's face tenderly, I feel a stab goes through my heart. Dordrich still holds my hand tightly, as if seeking comfort in it. “Dordrich, don't worry. This hospital has the best doctors, she will be fine.”
“The police, nobody actually understands how the car could ram into her vehicle. I was at the scene and the police suspect intent, especially since the perpetrators flee and left them injured there without even calling for help. He also had no serial number on the vehicle, so witnesses were only able to give a description that fits thousands of cars," Dordrich says in despair. "Who would be after Elena and my children? She has no friends, she only cares about the children. And I have no enemies."
I hug him encouragingly. "Perhaps a minor, without the necessary documents to drive a car and he has fled in panic. But these traffic criminals never get far, the police will soon track him down", I comfort him.
We walk to an adjoining room where two children are lying. “Dad, is mom awake yet? When can she come and see us?”, asks his son, Dordrich Jr. He is the spitting image of his father. When he sees me, he gives me a slight smile and waves at me. I greet him back with a reassuring smile. “Richie, this is my friend Loraine. She's here to help me," Dordrich explains. I look at the girl who shyly holds her doll against her. She also gives me a smile that I return.
I walk towards the girl. “What's your name, princess? You are so Beautiful". She smiles shyly. “My name is Anele and that is my brother Dordrich. He has the same name as my father. But we'll call him Richie", she says softly, pointing her finger at her brother. “But that's a beautiful name,” I tell her.
She smiles blushingly. Her eyes color are the same blue ones as Dordrich but her top is her mother's same black hair. “I have my mother's name. Only it's written the other way around," she explains proudly to me. I smile softly and stroke her hair.
“Daddy, when are we going home? I'm afraid to sleep here. I want to go to my own bed”, she says firmly now, her eyes on Dordrich. It is clear that she often gets her way and now demands it again. “The doctor has yet to say decide that, sweetie. You had a serious accident. He will certainly keep you under observation for another day," he tells his daughter, frowning. “Don't you want to be close to your mother? Then you can always see if she is awake yet”, he tries to cheer up his daughter.
A doctor and some nurses enter.
“Mr. Fellogan, your wife's results are in," the doctor says, looking at me questioningly. Dordrich nods him to continue. “She has two broken ribs which only have to heal now and a minor concussion. There's a leg fracture that we've already covered. I'm afraid your wife will have to stay here for several weeks, at least until the ribs have healed," the doctor explains. “We will keep the children tonight for observation and if everything goes well you can take them home tomorrow afternoon. But still, bed rest and no romping for them”.
Dordrich nods.
We are now back at Elena's bedside, who is still unconscious. She is kept asleep for several hours after the urgent operation because the pain can still be unbearable.
I stay with Dordrich for a few hours but feel I have to leave before Elena wakes up. In all cases, I want to avoid a painful scene. I notice that Dordrich has already come to his senses. I clear my throat to get his attention. “Dordrich, Elena will wake up in a moment. It's better if I'm not here anymore at that time," I tell him. "If you need me, I'll be in the penthouse." He grabs my hand tightly and sighs.
"Yes, I understand it. The worst is already over, she is out of danger.” He kisses me on the forehead. “Better go to work in the company. You've been gone too long. When I bring the kids home, I'm going to spend some time with them distracting them. They are still very shocked by what happened.”
I nod and grab my phone. "Aziel, can you pick me up at the hospital?" My faithful friend agrees, of course, and promises to be there within five minutes. Dordrich and I walk to the hospital lobby to wait for him. “Text me as soon as you go home, Dordrich. Let me know you and the kids are okay. Don't worry too much, the doctors say everything will be fine."
Aziel enters the lobby. I give Dordrich one last hug. When I walk to the car with Aziel, he shields me from the paparazzi, and we reach his car without incident.
