He's Mad
“Andre, don't let this just pass you by. Just give him a taste of his own medicine. I can clearly notice that seeing him again hurts you, I'm pretty sure that's exactly his intention," Loraine remarked. “Hit back, hard and only then will you see how that works out. These abusers often cannot handle the pain they inflict on others.”
“What exactly do you mean? I don't want to see this man around me, I can't stand him." It comes from the bottom of my heart. Again, Dale is a thing of the past, I can't say it enough. “The problem you have is that you can't control it. He's going to keep appearing in front of you, pestering you until you explode," Loraine insists. “Prove him wrong. You and I, in love and we will also sit on the terrace. We are deeply happy together and having a good time. If he can mess with women and pretend to be fake gay, so can you.”
Hmmmm, she has a point. I showed my hurt and Dale is probably having fun about that now. Her proposal is tempting, but I don't want to send the wrong signals to him. It's not that I care. But he'll keep going if I don't act, keep provoking me by coming here all the time. I think I have to accept Loraine's offer, but with the knowledge of Aziel. I don't want my new friend to feel like I took a chance on his most valuable asset after all. That could easily turn into a war between New York and Barbados, I joke to myself.
"Okay, I'm in. But how do we go about it?” I ask her. "I just ran away angry and then I can't suddenly return in love." She laughs at me. “No, you're gay, remember? We do it like this. I am in love with you and I am very busy seducing you. You're not really interested, but you don't turn me down either. Basically, you enjoy my adoration and treat me like an attention-seeking sister. What do you say to that?”
What!! So, this woman can write good scripts, I wonder where she got experience. "Sounds like a good idea. But tonight, we will tell Aziel about this. I don't want to upset him," I tease her. My mood is great again, together with Loraine I arrange the service in the kitchen. Again shortage of staff due to the many cases of illness. I'm thinking of recruiting some part-time workers.
Loraine served the guests, while I help the cooks with plating the orders. Now and then I look out the window where I place the orders on for my girlfriend, but make sure I don't look in the direction of Dale and his friend. when the orders are less so that the cooks can arrange it themselves, I take Loraine by the shoulders and lead her to an empty table. We're not close to Dale, but far enough away that he can follow our conversation if he wants to. “Lunch on me today”, I offer Loraine. She smiles. “You are always so generous to me. Do you know that buying lunch for a lady is a veiled signal of interest?” she says seductively. And sure enough, I hear someone behind me choking on his drink. Hmmmm, this is going better than I expected.
“You sure are a nice girl, stunning and intelligent. Who knows?”, I keep myself superficial. We both order a medium pizza, garlic bread with bacon and cheese and bottled water. When the waitress brought our order in, I hold a piece for Loraine to take a bite. She opens her eyes to me so enamored that I have to stop laughing so as not to spoil our plan. In addition to being a good scriptwriter, this woman is also a talented actress.
Luckily Dale is behind me so he can't see the look in my eyes. Loraine takes a big bite and I quickly grab a towel to casually wipe some sauce off her nose. She takes my hand intimately and I hear a growl at the back. So, is Dale jealous? It makes me confused, isn't the man in his company his lover?
Inconsiderately, Loraine continues to play with my hand while we eat our lunch. I look across the bay where some yachts are heading for the ocean. “Would you like to go out to sea a little later, Loraine? The weather looks good and we can cool off on one of the deserted beaches. You don't have to bring a bathing suit, you can swim naked again just like the last time”.
And now things go terribly wrong at a table behind me, an entire lunch inexplicably falls to the floor. Shards mixed with food are there, the waitresses rush to clean up the mess. But Loraine can't stop. She won't let me turn to assess the damage but sits on my lap. My head is taken in a tight embrace, her head hangs on my shoulder.
And then I hear firm steps coming our way.
“I don't want to disturb your intimate activities, Andre, but maybe your waitress can get us another meal when she's done with you,” Dale snaps at me. I'm watching him coldly. “There are already three waitresses at your table. Don't worry, you'll get a new order, free of charge." Under his eyes, I begin to caress Loraine's back, much to his fury. This is a completely different Dale than the one I know, he would never have gone mad before.
He was always in a good mood, never raised his voice like now. That is actually strange in itself. Isn't it normal that every person shows emotions? But Dale was always an even curve, never depths or highs in his mood. That should have been a red flag for me, but I was too much in love at that time.
And now look how angry he is about something that doesn't concern him at all...
