Almost Perfect!
With their heads in the clouds, Aziel and Loraine leave the hospital.
The news of their twins has put them in a blissful mood, they've had more than they asked for. Especially Aziel can't believe his luck, these are the children of the woman he loves.
But his thoughts are also occupied by the detective's statement. Clairy put him in a trap. When Loraine finds out about this, he fears the worst. And now that she's pregnant with twins, she can't bear any emotional shocks at all. Two babies are heavy to carry, he read about this online but never suspects he would be blessed with it. All kinds of thoughts run through his head, he knows that he must deal with this matter with Clairy quickly and quietly. He doesn't know the solution yet but thinks that a conversation with the girl should bring more clarity.
“Aziel!”
The man is startled from his thoughts. When he looks at the woman next to him, he sees that she is staring at him in surprise. “This is the third time I've talked to you, but you're so lost in thought. And when I called you earlier for the appointment, you seemed absent too," Loraine tells him. “Is there anything that bothers you? Do you want to talk with me about it?” she asks. Aziel's face softens. “It's nothing, honey. I'm still processing the news that I now have two instead of one child to take care of. I'll have to keep a close eye on you, it might be harder for you than with Lorrich."
Loraine smiles and leans against him. “Yes, you also have tough times ahead. We still have six months to go, and you will have to keep up the pace in bed. Hopefully, it won't get any worse than it is now," she teases him. They look into each other's eyes in love as they both laugh heartily at her comment.
When she wants to get into the car, Loraine suddenly sees a well-known figure standing nearby. Clairy! The grandchild of Abi and Jonas, her neighbors in Barbados. The girl looks completely different now, confident and with a sassy look in her eyes. “Miss Loraine”, she greets with twinkling eyes. “I saw you come out of the hospital with Aziel and thought I would say hello. It's been a long time since I last saw you," she says with a hollow expression on her face. Loraine stands up, her gut warning to be careful here. “Well, that's nice of you, Clairy. I really appreciate that. It’s indeed years since I last met you. How are your grandparents?” she asks the girl.
Clairy's face is now filled with a blissful expression. “Very good, Miss Loraine. Today I plan to call them, I have to give them the news that they are going to be great grandparents. I am expecting my first child soon and my grandparents will be thrilled.” Loraine looks surprised at the girl but doesn't feel like telling her about her own pregnancy. “Ooohhh congratulations. You and your husband must be happy about this. A first child is always special. Give my regards to Abi and Jonas and tell them I will contact them soon to catch up.”
“I'm not married yet, but I think my baby's father will soon pop the question. He will want to be in his child's life, especially when he thinks of the generous alimony hanging over his head," she responds with a calculated look in her eyes. Loraine starts to feel uncomfortable in her company and wants to end the conversation soon. “Well, good luck then. Don't forget to send my regards," she concludes and gets into the car.
Over her head, Clairy smiles viciously at Aziel. “We need to talk,” she tells him silently with lip movements. He looks at her with hatred. “We'll see,” he bites her, turns and walks to the driver's side of the vehicle. With another disgusted look at her, he gets in next to Loraine. “That was an awkward conversation with a vicious atmosphere. This child is never after the good. She'll get herself into big trouble one day," notes Loraine. Aziel remains silent and maneuvers the car deftly in traffic. He drives directly to a restaurant specializing in dishes prepared with organic vegetables. They walk hand in hand and choose a table that offers more privacy.
“I hope we can find out the gender of our children next month, dear. Then we can do targeted purchases. We have to set up one of the rooms as a nursery and make the walk-in closet a bit bigger”, says Aziel while going through the menu. Loraine nods dreamily. “Lorrich. I wonder how our oldest will react to this news. He won't want to sleep with us anymore and just watch over the babies."
Aziel chooses a meal that is recommended for pregnant women because of the vitamins and iron it provides. When the waitress has taken the order, he turns to Loraine again. “What do you think, Loraine? Shall we move closer to a wooded area where the air is fresher and healthier for our children? And a larger yard where they can freely play and then we can have dogs for them, some small breeds?” he asks. He thinks of the house where they now live, which is comfortable but does not have much room for maneuver.
Children need space to let off excess energy and he likes privacy for his family. He wants to minimize the way in which he and Loraine are chased by paparazzi and news hunters in recent weeks so that his children do not suffer from it.
“Yes, moving would be good. I myself have a number of houses as an investment, but they are not close to wooded areas. I also doubt whether they are geared to a large family," she thinks. Aziel nods. “I'll put some real estate agents to work tomorrow. We want spacious bedrooms and a nursery, a big kitchen with modern appliances, a large back terrace, and a large, fenced yard for the children.”
