A Friend in Need
As soon as the session is closed, Damian walks towards Aziel with big strides.
“Man, why didn't you call me? You know that I'm your best friend and you can always count on me. This is really fucked up!”. Damian emotionally takes his friend in a bone-cracking hug. “I learned this morning what happened. Due to the busy work and private life, I did not follow the media for several weeks until my secretary drew my attention to the online reports of the lawsuit today."
Damian can't imagine that Aziel hasn't involved him with everything that's happened to him over the past few months. He knows about the engagement to Loraine but was shocked when he just heard that she had a miscarriage and was also kidnapped. Knowing how crazy Aziel is of Loraine, he knew his friend must be in pretty bad shape mentally.
Aziel is really grateful to see his old friend. He has to clear his throat several times to answer him. “Damian. You have so much on your mind, I couldn't bring myself to burden you with my problems as well. These last months have been so hard, man. Loraine is gone, my children dead. Life is so hard on me.”
Damian grabs him by the shoulders and leads him to an empty room in the building. They sit down at a table and Aziel pours out his heart to his friend. Damian sits quietly listening to the story, controlling his stirring emotions. He knows that Aziel now needs a strong pillar to lean on, not a weakling. And he wants to be there for his friend, be strong for him.
He has already agreed with Andre during the hearing that he will be with Aziel all day, to support him where he can. Andre was happy with that as he also had to handle some private matters himself.
"But we now have a lead," Aziel lets his friend know hopefully. "Danner".
Damian can't believe his ears, his eyes go wide. "Are you sure? Yes, he should be released now after all these years. But will he get himself in trouble again when he just got back? Although, he was always obsessed with Loraine, has always controlled her. Hmmmm”, he considers the options. “Yes, he is capable of that. But did Loraine go along willingly?” he asks.
“Well, according to the hospital images, yes. But we suspect that he’s drugging her," Aziel explains sadly. “The head nurse of the hospital provides him with the medicines”. Damian is stunned, this is a far-reaching action by Danner, which also is a criminal offense. He can't imagine an intelligent man like Danner getting himself into more trouble now, only to reclaim a woman who already belongs to another. Danner also knew beforehand that Aziel had been madly in love with Loraine all these years and now that she has chosen him, he must accept his loss like a man. But possessive and obsessed that he is, he tries to get his way anyway, whatever he has to do for it.
Damian shakes his head dumbfounded.
“You should notify the authorities. He's going too far this time," he urges Aziel.
“We know he's on a yacht with her in Miami. Andre's boat is on its way and has to arrive this afternoon. We are going to take a closer look ourselves, we want to prevent a new media hype. Too much public attention lately," he explains to his friend.
“Okay, but if you guys leave, keep me posted every day, Aziel. I really need to know that you're all right. I can't imagine that you were alone with so much trouble over the past few weeks," says Damian sadly. “All the time I thought you and Loraine had it all right. Stupid of me to keep putting off connecting with you guys again. Oooohh man, I would leave everything to stand by you in this dark period, you know that!” Aziel decides it's time to relax the sphere.
“Oh, I didn't want to disturb your soccer team's training. I convinced Loraine that we also have to create our own team to meet yours in a great match," he says with a laugh. And he succeeds in his aim. Damian bursts into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
“My wife is really going for it and unbelievably she can manage the children very well”, he declares proudly. “She wants three more and we already have seven. Man, if I didn't earn so well, I'd be bankrupt by now. The costs for the nannies and food are enormous,” he sighs. Aziel pats him on the back. “We can't help but give in to our women. They are our pride, you know. We were just about to start with our twins, we already have a five-year-old son.”
Now it's Damian who wants to avert the conversation's depressive direction. He proposes to leave to have lunch somewhere. “There is a good restaurant close by. We can talk further there.” They walk to Damian's vehicle and then Aziel remembers that he hasn't seen Andre around. When Damian notices him looking at Andre's car, he reassures him. “Andre is okay, I already told him you're coming with me. I am at your disposal all day long. We're going to do some fun things to help you relax." Aziel nods.
"Yes, and I think he also has a date with a new flame. I do hope it goes well this time. Now that Lorrich is with the Fellogans for a longer period of time, Andre has a lot of free time and may feel lonely," he says as he sits next to Damian in the vehicle.
“I don't want to blow the whistle, but I saw him and the opposing attorney exchange some steamy looks. With so many people around us, I had to hold back not to tease him properly," laughs Damian, much to Aziel's surprise. “That Kenjal Griffith? That is an alright fellow and would be a great match. He doesn't have to worry about a gold digger like Dale," he responds thoughtfully. "Lorrich will really like him, he has a pleasant personality."..
