The Battle Is On
Aziel's POV
Loraine promised me her support in this terrible case, but I don't take it for granted.
Enduring mental pressure isn't her forte and now that she's pregnant, this whole affair will take a heavy toll on her. And I don't trust that Clairy at all after she pulled the stunt on Loraine. It's clear she can go far with her destructive attitude if she doesn't get her way. And that certainly won't happen.
The only woman I will marry in this life is Loraine, no one else.
My children with her are my top priority and I will not be blackmailed by Clairy with the child being forced upon me. It's a real shame that these days women force themselves so much on unwilling men and go so far as to include a child in their reprehensible plans. The child will be the biggest victim in this mess, no matter how I’ll try to minimize it. My haven is Loraine and our children are my life. If Clairy allows, I will also include her child in my family, but Clairy will definitely stay far from us, I want to keep her evil influences out of my house.
After our conversation that day, she messages me daily, it's like she's stalking me.
Taking into account she is carrying my child, I have not reported this either. I don't want the child later to feel that I've rejected it, didn't want contact with Clairy because I hated her pregnancy. I suspect she is seeking legal evidence to pin me down, any written response can be used as evidence against me later in court. So, I responded to the first message she sent me and put the agreements we have now in black and white: I take all responsibility for the child she forced on me via rape after the confirmation of a DNA test.
But she persists and sends me updates every day about her pregnancy and the days she needs to go to the doctor for a checkup. To prevent her from getting expectations, I don't venture to do activities with her. I wait patiently until the DNA test can be done to make further financial arrangements or visit arrangements with her.
It's time I got Andre involved in all of this now.
He is the best advisor on this as he knows Dale’s ways. Clairy and Dale are in on the plot, I am now assured, Elena is clearly the mastermind as she paid. I suspect Elena wants to pain Loraine with a pregnant Clairy, Clairy thinks she'll tie me with a pregnancy, but did Dale only get involved in all this for the money?
Loraine fell asleep out of sheer fatigue and I just put her on the bed. She is so vulnerable and I feel a pang of guilt now I have put her in this situation. But I swear that once I settle everything with Clairy, I'll make it up to her. We will then go on a wonderful vacation with the children in a wooded country, in the middle of the fresh Amazon jungle. A new environment than we are in now, ample opportunity to temporarily forget all problems.
I walk to my study to call Andre, I don't want to wake Loraine. I facetime him, he takes my call. But what I see there almost makes my heart stop. Dale is next to him and they are on the bed! My eyes go wide with shock, but then I see his one eye go smaller like a sign. The same way when he and Lorrich get into mischief and I understand right away that he wants to put me at ease. But I'm not sure what attitude to adopt so I decide to give him the lead in the conversation. “Andre, how's life? It's been a long time since I saw you and Lorrich misses you, man"
A slight smile comes across his face as always when he hears Lorrich's name.
“Congrats on our new additions. I can't wait for them to arrive. Twins! You did a good job, Aziel”, he teases me. We laugh heartily at his joke. “We have to prepare Lorrich. Loraine is almost four months now, you still have some time. In any case, Lorrich is overjoyed now.” I still ignore the man next to Andre who is indifferently on his own phone, but clearly following the conversation.
“You are not in New York. When will you be back? We have to talk. Everything has changed”, I give him a hint. He must have noticed something in my voice because I see his face tighten. For Andre, family is his top priority and I know I can count on him in any case. After Damian, he's my best friend and with that Dale next to him, I'm still sure of his loyalty. “Tell me you need me and I'll be back right now. You know I'm always there for you. Say the word, Aziel!" He is now dead serious and awaits my answer impatiently.
But I also see Dale’s head jolt up and he's staring straight at me now.
I also look at him closely, this is the man who contributed to the disruption of my family, my life. Not a single sign of guilt or regret is on his face, only suppressed anger and dominance. While Andre still waits for my answer, Dale looks at me intimidatingly as if daring me to call Andre back. If Andre comes back, his vacation plans are canceled, his fun is over. I think of all that money he received from Clairy and Andre now unknowingly enjoying that stained money.
I accept Dale's challenge, this is part of the score I have to settle with him. And I must protect Andre, I am sure he will never forgive himself if he finds out the origin of all the money he has been playing with.
“My family would be quite grateful if we had you here. We're going through a rough time right now, Andre. So much has happened in the last hours and Loraine is now my biggest concern, she is so emotionally fragile.”
Dale's face turns red with anger, he didn't think I'd pick up the gauntlet he threw into the ring. Kidnapping me was a piece of cake so he thought he could keep a hold on me further. Nope, wrong man, Dale!
Andre immediately jumps up. "I'm on my way. Keep Loraine and Lorrich calm until I get there, I'm counting on you, Aziel. I'm still on Curacao now, but I'll be there in a few hours”. With that, he breaks the connection.
Great, with Andre here, things will be much better...
