The Wait

Now that we have the information about their whereabouts, we don't have to rush to meet them. We have to get back to the boat, I don't want to phone Aziel about our progress. Like most tourists who take pictures everywhere, I give Kenjal my mobile. “Take a picture of me with a nice background”, I tell him. I stand up and take a pose. Kenjal doesn't need much to understand what the point is.
He holds up my device, directing me so that Loraine can also be seen in the background. Then he zooms in to get a clearer picture of her. I'm sure Aziel will go crazy when he sees her now, the blond head looks great on her, although I still prefer the black hair.
“Fantastic”, he exclaims, I know what he means by that. Loraine is probably perfect in focus. He gives me back my mobile and together we walk back, the same route we came. We completely ignore the couple at the table, just not to raise suspicion. I can't wait until I'm on the yacht now, I want to show Aziel those pictures.
When we're in the dinghy, I urge Kenjal to hurry. “Come on man, does it really have to be at a snail's pace?” I grumble while he already has the engine at the highest speed. He rolls his eyes but keeps his cool. In the distance I see Aziel waiting, I know he is impatiently waiting for our return. When we reach the yacht, he extends a hand to us to jump aboard.
“I'm not going to keep you in suspense any longer, Aziel. We saw Loraine”, I let him know. His eyes widen, he stops breathing. Kenjal runs ahead and slaps him lightly on the back. “Breathe, man. Take a deep breath," he yells at him. Slowly Aziel’s face turns to normal. "True? Did she recognize you, have you talked to her?” Aziel asks breathlessly. I pull out my mobile and show him the photos Kenjal has shot. Tears well up in his eyes as he looks at the woman.
“She's blonde. My wife is now blonde. But that's not a bad thing, everything is gorgeous with her," he says softly caressing the picture.
“We also have the hotel where they stay. And trust me, Sandals has a lot of public facilities, it won't take us much to get in touch with her," Kenjal explains, showing him a picture of Danner's bill with all the information on it. A wide grin comes on Aziel's face. “Time to leave. We better arrive at the hotel in the evening. And usually there is entertainment until the late hours, maybe we can start there too”, he says enthusiastically. We pack, the captain indicates to stay back on the yacht. He plans to join the dancing tourists and enjoy the nightlife later in the evening.
Aziel puts on a thick sweater and hoodie to remain unrecognizable and we leave the yacht. On shore we take a taxi to go to the hotel. “If we stay here longer, we will have to rent our own car. These taxis are quite inconvenient," complains Kenjal, clearly unaccustomed to average transport. Andre laughs at him. “What wealth doesn't do to spoiled souls,” he teases. Aziel also looks at him amused. "But you're right. This cannot be done. My long legs keep getting pinched,” he supports Kenjal.
When they arrive at the hotel, it is quiet around the reception.
“Can we get a room on the third floor?” Kenjal asks with a breathtaking smile at the woman. “If one is free there, sure. Let me check," she replies. “How many beds do you want in it?” she asks again, inspecting the three of us individually now. “At least two doubles, but if you have three we're good”, Kenjal answers her. After looking at her computer for some time, she looks at him with pleasure. “Yes, there is one on that floor. With three beds”.
Kenjal completes the check-in procedure with her, takes the keys from her and we turn to the elevator. There is just an empty one waiting, we cram in with the suitcases. And just as the doors are about to slam shut, someone runs to stop the elevator.
Danner!
And behind him, Loraine rushes in. She doesn't look at us, but stands right in front of Kenjal, while Danner gets next to her. “Which floor are you going to? We're staying at three”, he asks with his finger on the button. “Yes, we go there too”, Kenjal tells him. Aziel is behind us watching everything.
In silence we make the ride to the third floor. And when the elevator finally stops, Danner takes Loraine by the hand and leads her down the hall. When we're also outside, Kenjal looks at the room number again. We head in the same direction as the two and when we reach our room it is the second after the one in which Danner and Loraine have disappeared. Aziel's face is red, he’s clearly restraining himself.
Once inside we heave a sigh of relief. “That was close!” I exclaim, looking at Aziel. He is completely withdrawn. Having the woman you shared your joys and sorrows with so close and unable to address her, I would also have a hard time processing it all. “Aziel?” I call him. He seems to be coming back from deep thoughts. “I'm okay, don't worry, please. Once the situation is like this, I focus on the future," he says defeated.
The three of us sit around the table in the room.
“Kenjal and I are going down in an hour and checking what entertainment is on. Just stay in the room until we call you. Okay?". Aziel nods, gets up and disappears into the bathroom. A few seconds later we hear the shower.
“He's having a hard time, this isn't easy for him,” Kenjal says compassionately. "I hope he succeeds and this doesn't take too long."
I agree with him. Aziel and Loraine belong together...
