Fellogan's Retreat
“Man, this is bad. How did we lose sight of them? This was inevitable, Aziel simply succumbed”, Damian sighs. “We should have been alert when they arrived. Ever since the funeral, we should have forced him into therapy.”
We look at each other with guilt.
“These two clearly belong together. And that Fellogan also pulled some tricks, which certainly didn't work well on their relationship. Why do I feel like that idiot did it all on purpose?” Archer grinned. “I never liked him. A cheater can never have high morale.”
We're going at high speed, the speed cameras have already caught us a few times. But that's for later concern. Virginia is our target and we want to get there as soon as possible. “Archer, turn on the television. I want to see what the media has made of Loraine's case," I ask him. He zips some channels until we do see breaking news. The reporter tries to get the medical staff to talk and reaches for Kaylah. In vain, no one wants to give details about what happened.
Suddenly we see a Rolls Royce Sport drive up, the same as mine but this one is definitely Dordrich's. Few in New York have one, one is also in the garage of Lorrich's penthouse. Loraine once told me it belonged to her, but now her son is the legal owner. “Of all your life! Guys, look who got there! That bastard!” I exclaim. With my mouth open, I watch as Dordrich slowly gets out and walks towards the journalists. The hospital doors are on the other side so it is more than evident that he is seeking media attention. He is not disappointed, the horde moves quickly in his direction.
“Mr. Fellogan, can you tell us what's going on with Miss Windrug? Was it a suicide attempt?” a journalist asks. “Is it true that Aziel broke up with her?” sounds from another side. “What are you actually doing here?” asks a journalist whom I recognize as Alyssa. Well, well, look who we got there now. She knows Loraine doesn't like Fellogan that much so I expect fireworks from her side. I'm already rubbing my hands, I hated at first that I was not there but I know this Alyssa is an expert at sarcasm and is ready for Fellogan.
Archer also watches, Damian can do nothing but turn up the volume to listen to the report. Confidently he straightens his expensive suit and looks at the questioner. “No, it's not a suicide attempt, it's an accident. My woman would never try to kill herself. Fortunately, she was discovered in time," he explains like he’s the rescuer. “We had a romantic late lunch an hour earlier and planned to spend the evening together,” he lies without flinching. I see Archer clench his fists, Damian grips the steering wheel tighter. We all know his statement is false. “Has Miss Windrug reconciled with you? We've never heard any of that before. And she's engaged to Mr. Renegade,” another tells him.
Fellogan grows impatient at the question. "If I tell you that we spent the afternoon together and planned to meet again in the evening, don't you think the engagement is over?" he says with a sharp look at the man. “Mr. Renegade has already left New York. Let your head work a bit.” I still keep an eye on Alyssa, she stands there but remains silent. “I am here to visit my girlfriend and mother of my son. This hospital is the best there is, so I expect she’ll be good in a short time.”
Fellogan raises his head arrogantly and is about to enter the hospital when Alyssa stands in front of him. Her television station also goes live. “Mr. Fellogan, I hate to make this clear to you, but you just claimed you had lunch with Miss Windrug this afternoon. That is an outright lie. Loraine had been lying in the house unnoticed for several days before her best friend Andre found her.” The journalist pauses to allow her words to sink into Fellogan, who now looks uneasy. “And Loraine is still engaged to Aziel. A breakup is not to be expected. Your media companies have been spreading fake news about your relationship with Loraine, putting an extra strain on their relationship. Shame on you, Mr. Fellogan”.
Dordrich's face is now ignited with fierce anger. He forgets that he is Live in the picture for all of America. “What do you know about Loraine and me? We have a son, the heir of the Fellogan Holding. And she has realized that I am her best option, professionally and privately," he declares in a loud voice.
“Wrong. The woman doesn't even like you, you force yourself on her again and again," Alyssa says hard to his face. “She has rejected you several times. Loraine and Aziel are soul mates, you are the disrupter”.
The two stare at each other like ruffs. “What's this got to do with you, girl? Our relationship is none of your business. Loraine loves me and that's it," he yells at Alyssa. The camera runs continuously. “And I tell you that you are past tense. You are here for personal attention, a show. If it were really your lover who was now in the hospital fighting for her life, you wouldn't be wasting so much time here in front of cameras. You would have been standing next to her bed for a long time.”
Fellogan understands his blunder.
With another quick glance of hatred at Alyssa, he turns and takes big steps to his expensive car. When he starts the vehicle impatiently, the engine makes a protesting noise. At high speed he skims off the parking lot and onto the highway. The other journalists look at their colleague admiringly. “Alyssa, Fellogan will not forgive you for this. You broke him to the floor," an editor grinned.
Alyssa's answer remains unreachable to my ears. Archer and Damian's booming laughter almost deafens me. “That's my girl. She gave him a good blow unraveled all his lies. How dare he!” I exclaim angrily. The depressed mood in the car is now completely turned to relief. With a sound mind we now drive towards Aziel to fix what is broken. As we continue on our way, everyone is now lost in their own thoughts. We plan for ourselves how to glue this crack in our friends' relationship.
The television is still on, the news continues to other items.
But after about half an hour, suddenly the news is interrupted by another item.
Dordrich Fellogan's name is mentioned in connection with a car accident, but the news anchor is waiting for confirmation from her colleague who rushed to the scene. On-screen we see a helicopter flying above the same highway where we are now. Damian drops our speed. He drives into the hard shoulder, he too wants to follow this news closely...
