**Valenzano POV: **
I can't believe that my mother of all people invited Avaya to dinner. Yes, her mother was my mother's best friend. Hell, her dad was even the pack Beta. But my mother should know if I exile someone it's for a reason.
I know my mother has always wanted Avaya and me to be mates. But the Goddess had other plans. Since Avaya has the protection of my mother, she knows I can't touch her. And she used it to her advantage. She is being very disrespectful to Cleo.
Cleo excused herself and I can feel the frustration through our bond. Jazz walked after her and I thought to myself this was not going to be good. Then, I felt something different, a feeling of satisfaction came from Cleo.
When she and Jazz got back, words were exchanged, and Cleo showed a side of her I only saw once. I watched with passion as she started throwing daggers at Avaya. Everyone was so shocked no one stopped her. Avaya being the sore loser, she told Cleo and everyone else who could hear our secret.
"Val tells me she is lying.... tell me you didn't kill your own child", Cleo said as she started crying. Looking at me in horror. I can feel the hurt and confusion she is trying to hide from everyone else.
"Cleo baby.... I", I wanted to explain but Avaya cut me off. I am going to kill her. Only she and I knew our secret and she just told it just to hurt Cleo. I watched her run upstairs, I wanted so much to go after her, but I needed to handle Avaya.
"YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES TO GET OUT OF MY HOUSE OR YOU ARE DEAD!", I yelled.
"You can't touch me. I am under your mother's protection", she said with a smirk.
"Avaya, you need to leave now", my mother said.
"But… Claret, I didn't do anything wrong. I just told the truth", she said with a whine.
"Avaya, it wasn't the time or the place. And it wasn't your place to tell my son’s mate about his past", my father said.
"It's my past as well and she needed to know", Avaya said, still trying to plead her case.
"OUT NOW!", I yelled as I stalked towards her. Fortunately, West jumped in front of me to stop me from ripping her head off.
"Avaya leave now please", West said. I watched as my father escorted her out of the house and told the warriors to escort her from the pack lands.
"Bro go check on Cleo", West said.
I followed her scent upstairs and took a deep breath, then knocked on the door. I feel all her emotions, the disappointment, fear, sorrow, all of it, and it's driving me nuts.
"Cleo baby open the door please", I heard her crying harder.
"Cleo baby, please I can explain. Just listen to me", I pleaded with her. After multiple please she opens the door.
"Baby.... I", I tried to explain but she cut me off.
"Don't.... I will ask the questions and you will answer them", she demanded.
"Okay, ask whatever you want", I said as I walked towards her. But she stops me.
"We will have this conversation in this spot", she said, pissed off and hurt.
"Okay, baby ask away", I said, hoping to defuse the situation.
"Is what she said true? Did you make her kill your baby?", she says, looking me in the eyes.
"Yes", I said, taking a deep breath. My heart hurt when she started to cry.
"Last question.... if I wasn't your mate, would you have tried to force me to get rid of our babies?", the hurt in her eyes when she asked the question told me she knew the answer. She just wanted me to admit it.
"Yes", I reluctantly said.
"YOU ARE A FUCKING MONSTER", she said as she punched me in the face and slammed the door shut.
"CLEO, BABY OPEN THE DOOR PLEASE", I said as I sat in the hallway across from her door.
I am so going to kill Avaya for putting me in this situation. I wanted to tell Cleo; hell, I was after the pups were born. I didn't want any more secrets between us, but Avaya had to fuck it up.
"Cleopatra is hurting", Vintage said.
"I know....and it's all my fault", I say as I rub my head in frustration.
"Yes, it is", he snapped at me.
"Son", I heard my father call me. His tone makes me feel like a teenager again.
"Not right now dad", I said, not taking my eyes off the door.
"In my office now", he said. After all these years, he still considers my office his. I get up and walk to my office. My dad sits behind my desk while I sit in the chair in front of it.
"Son, you messed up and badly", Dad said, and I do not want to hear this shit right now.
"It wasn't my fault mom invited Avaya here", I said, pissed off mom did such a thing.
"You had a secret that you didn't tell your mate. Thus, making it a weapon for the enemies you have. I know why you did it and I understand", my dad has always been wise. But something in his eyes tells me he is speaking from personal experience.
"Are you speaking from personal experience dad", I said to him.
"As a matter of fact, yes", he said.
He started to tell me his story. Before he met my mother, he had a lover just like I had. He thought he loved her more than life itself until he saw my mother. The day he intended to end their relationship and take my mother as his mate.
The woman told him she was pregnant, and my father was just as happy as can be to have a pup coming. He told the woman about my mother and, surprisingly, she was ok with it. She didn't mind being the other woman as long as she got to live in the house with him and they raised the child together.
However, when he told my mother she was furious, she didn't want to share him, the house, or his heirs with another woman. She gave my father a choice: the woman goes, or she goes. My father was in a tight spot. An Alpha is nothing without his Luna, but he had a child coming that he could not neglect.
He took too long to choose, and my mother chose for him. She told him any child she had with would never carry the Alpha title and her child would not be second to any bastard and she rejected him and left.
My mother has always been the type of woman to lay her demands out and if they are not met, she would turn into a not-so-nice person. My dad continued his story and I listened. Weeks went by, he started to miss my mother. The rejection was taking its toll on him. He started to resent the woman and the child she carried. He left to look for my mom to take her back and found her with another Alpha.
He fought the Alpha for her and the pack and won. My mom, being stubborn, could back and refuse to stay in the house where the woman was, so she stayed with the Beta. Who was unmatted and it drove my father mad.
Finally, he told the woman it was over and that she had to leave the pack and go to his sister's pack. And that once the baby is born, his sister would take the child as her own. She refused and grabbed a knife, threatening to find my mother and kill her. As she walked towards the door, my dad lost it and snapped her neck.
"I gave her a proper burial. After I mourned the loss of my child, I went and found your mother. I told her everything. She was horrified at first, but after two weeks she forgave me and then we conceived you", dad said.
"Wait dad, you killed a pregnant woman?!", I was shocked at his confession and the fact that my mother knew.
"I did, but the point is son, I didn't keep it from your mother. As my mate, she is my equal. Every dirty deed I've done since I met her, she knows about", he said, in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Dad, I was going to tell her I just wanted to wait until after the pups were born. I just got her back, then I found out she is pregnant. I didn't want to tell her and risk stressing her out", explaining my actions to my father reminds me of the time I got caught getting a blow job from a girl inside the janitor's closet at school.
"Give her some time, son, she will forgive you. But give her some space, I know it's hard to do son", he said. I am not trying to hear that shit.
"Dad, if we are not near each other, it is bad for the pups", I said with worry.
"And that's why it's her that needs to come to you. She needs to forgive you in her own time and on her own terms. And I advise you to tell her any other dirty secrets you have", he says as he gets up and hugs me.
"I don't have any more dad", I said with an eye roll.
"Go get some sleep. I have to go make sure your mother is all right", he said. I swear it's like he never stops being an Alpha.
"Is she mad at me dad?", I asked, sounding like a pup. My mom is the first woman I ever loved. It pains me to have disappointed her.
"More like disappointed in herself for bringing Avaya here", he said as he left the office.
"By the way son, I love what you have done to my office", he said with a smile.
"Good night dad", I said, annoyed. His office my ass.
"Good night son", he said as he walked out.
I walked to Cleo's door; she was still up crying. I knocked on the door and she stopped crying. I can feel all the emotions she has.
"Cleo baby, I am going to give you as much space as you need. If you or the pups need me, you know where I am. I love you baby", then I left and went to our room.
