**John POV: **
Fuck my chest, neck, and back hurt. I don’t have enough straight to get up. I have no idea where I am. Bastet I can’t believe I shot her, I loved her but my anger got the best of me and I killed her out of rage. I committed treason and killed my commander, if anyone finds out I will be put to death. And my uncle's title might be taken as well. There is a heart monitor I can hear the beat I just don’t know where I am. I have no strength to fight anyone if I am in hostile territory. I slowly opened my eyes the light in the room stung them, I tried to sit up, but someone stopped me.
“Bastet”, I called out hoping it was all a dream.
“He’s awake, McKee, Abrams, John is awake”, I recognize my uncle's voice and he helps me sit up.
“John, where is Bas”, McKee asked I hate when he calls her that.
“John, where is my”, daughter?”, Abrams asked. How can I tell him his only daughter is dead?
“She…she’s gone”, I said fighting the tears of guilt and shame of being a wife killer.
“WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN GONE?! YOU SON OF A BITCH WHERE IS SHE”, McKee said as he choked me. My uncle and Abrams had to pull him off me.
“John, tell us what happened and where is my daughter”, Abrams said a little too calmly for my liking.
“It was an ambush; he was waiting for me with her in his arms. When I approached, he ripped her throat out in front of me I didn’t even have a chance to get to her. Then he charged at me, we fought, I shot him, and I don’t know what happened after”, I said.
“NO….NO NOT MY BABY”, Abram said crying.
“SHE IS NOT DEAD….NO…NO SHE CANT BE DEAD!”, McKee cried.
After everyone calmed down, they explained to me that they waited an hour then they went to go and look for me. They found me at the bottom of the hill battered and bruised. They said that they ran up the hill and found puddles of blood. But is no bodies. They must have gotten rid of the bodies. I have no idea I have been out it must be a while since I am in the infirmary at the association
“I should have known better as a father I failed my daughter as a commander I failed her”, Abrams said crying
“We will find her and bring her home she deserves a proper burial”, my uncle said trying to console Abrams.
“Pell will come in later and take a formal report and we will use it to bring to the council. I JASON MCKEE DECLARE WAR ON THE DRAGON MOON PACK”, McKee declared.
“You can’t do that”, I said shocked.
“I can as her second, as long as Abrams back me the council will have no problem with it”, McKee said.
“When Abrams retires John will be your commander it is his job to bring his grievance to the council, especially as a widower”, my uncle said.
“She is not dead. And if she is doesn’t it seem weird to everyone, he is alive”, McKee said pointing at me.
“What the fuck that’s supposed to mean? You were there when we found him half dead it's clear there was a fight”, the uncle said getting in McKee's face.
“You know what I mean”, McKee said.
“They will be expecting us to retaliate”, I said
“That’s why we will wait at least nine months I want them wiped out. I am not retiring until her find her or her body”, Abrams said and walked out.
After everyone left, I was left alone with my shame and guilt. I keep seeing her face her shock, the disappointment in her eyes. I killed the woman I love and may die because of it, but I know if I confess, I will die and bring shame to my uncle and prove everyone right I wasn’t good enough for her. If they got rid of her body there will be no proof of the bullet wound, I heard some pack burn their dead instead of burying them. If she is not dead I need to put a block on everyone's phone so she can’t call anyone. But I am pretty sure she is dead. The nurse came in and gave me some more morphine and I was out like a light.
**Seth POV: **
“Fuck doc do you have to be so rough”, I almost yelled fuck this hurts.
“Alpha the bullet is silver laced with wolfsbane you won’t heal until it's out”, the doctor said digging into my side and trying to get the bullet out.
“I don’t care about me I need to get to my mate she was shot too”, I said trying to get off the bed
“That woman is our Luna”, the doctor said shocked.
“She is my mate I want her taken care of first”, I said in my Alpha tone. The doctor stopped working on me and went to Bastet
“Oh, my good Seth what happened”, Sherry said running to me crying while Morton and Stephan are behind her.
“No one out after dark”, I said those hunters will retaliate I just hope Bastet wakes up so she can’t tell them the truth and stop bloodshed.
“What happened?”, Stephan asked concerned.
“That bastard shot her”, I said pissed off.
“What why?”, Morton asked shocked.
“He saw us kissing”, I said.
“He shot his pregnant wife?”, Morton asked confused.
“He doesn’t know she is pregnant she didn’t get a chance to tell him”, I said
“Wait you kissed her in front of her husband I would have shot you guys too”, Stephan said.
“First off he wasn’t there when we arrived. He came during our kiss, I couldn’t let her leave without feeling her on me”, I said
“Either way a war is coming, if he is dead, they will want revenge. If he is alive, he damn sure didn’t tell anyone he shot her. He might think he killed her, and problem blamed it on you”, Morton said.
“She is not dead maybe we can use that to our advantage”, Stephan said.
“How so?”, I asked.
“Well when they show up to try to avenge her death, she will be there, to tell the truth”, Stephan said.
“Sherry can you go sit with her and let us know when she wakes up?”, I asked.
“Yes, sure she might like to see a female, you males can be kind of intimidating”, Sherry said then kissed Morton and left.
When Sherry left, we came up with a plan. The hunters don’t know our count and if they did adding Stephan's count to our numbers have doubled. I want to protect her she will stay here until she is better, I hope that gives me enough time to have the mate bond grow stronger. Morton subject sending scouts to the town, Stephan suggests drawing them out and making them come to us. I like Stephan idea when Bastet is better, I will talk to her about it. Morton takes the medical tweezers and Stephan holds me down while Morton takes out the bullet. I start to heal instantly then Sol runs in.
“Seth baby are you okay? What happened?”, she asked hysterically.
“He was shot by a fucking hunter”, Stephan said.
“That woman shot you?”, she said in disgust.
“No, her husband”, Morton said with a laugh. I am glad we can laugh now.
“Well at least she is gone”, Sol said, and Stephan and Morton looked at me with pity. Fuck I got to tell Sol she is still here.
“Guys give us a minute”, I said, and they left.
“Sol, she is still here her husband shot her as well”, I said holding her hand.
“If you would have just let her leave this would have not happened in the first place”, she said getting pissed off.
“It happened when I was returning her to her husband”, I said looking at Sol.
“Well, send her somewhere she can't stay here they will come back for her”, Sol said almost shouting.
“She is my mate and she is hurt and with child. I can’t let her leave. Honesty I don’t want her to. She deserves so much better than that asshole”, I said trying not to get mad.
“With child, she is pregnant?”, Sol asked.
“Yes, the child is her husband but he doesn’t know she is alive or pregnant. So she needs to stay here for protection until I see fit otherwise”, I said in a demanding tone,
“What about us and our plans”, she asked worriedly.
“It is postponed until further notice. You are allowed to seek someone else if you like”, I said worried about Bastet I need to see her.
Morton tells me Sherry said Bastet is awake. Wasting no time, I run to her room leaving Sol standing there in shock. I don’t want her hurt Sole, but the Goddess gave me a second chance and I don’t want to mess it up. Everything happens for a reason, and I didn’t want to lead Sol on. I want to be with Bastet if she will have me. I have to talk to Morton first he will understand me.
