**Cleo POV: **
After the announcement, everything seemed to go full speed ahead. Valenzano and I haven't had too much time together, five minutes tops, just to make sure the pups and I are okay. On top of planning the ceremony, I found out that human holidays are not celebrated here. Holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving is this month, and I am determined to plan the pack's first Thanksgiving celebration and it is rubbing some people the wrong way.
I get why they don't celebrate Christmas. They believe in the Moon Goddess, not Jesus. My dad allowed my mother to celebrate Christmas, so I grew up loving it. But Thanksgiving I have no idea why they would not celebrate it. Why not celebrate a time to give thanks for what you have and spend time with family and friends. While on my laptop creating invites for pack members to RSVP to have Thanksgiving dinner with us, I hear Valenzano come in. I think that if the pack members be more opened minded they would enjoy some of the human holidays.
"Hey, baby how are you doing?", he said as he kissed me and my stomach.
"I am fine babe. But I have a question", I said still not understanding why Thanksgiving is not celebrated here.
"Okay, shoot", he says as he hands me my food.
"Why doesn't the pack celebrate human holidays? I understand why Christmas or Easter is not celebrated", I say as I stuff my face with a taco.
"Honesty mainly because human holidays such as Valentine's Day, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, don't mean anything to us”, he said.
"Why not?", I asked, confused.
"For example, we shifters show our mates love and appreciation year-round. So, to celebrate our love for our mates for only one day, we consider it disrespectful", he said as he handed me some water.
"And what about the others?", I really want to know the answers.
He goes on to explain that Columbus Day makes no sense because Columbus did not discover America, since his pack and others were already here. Then he goes on to say that Independence Day is laughable because the colonials demanded freedom from England but refused its enslaved Africans that same freedom. This dude pulled out his calendar on his phone going through every, federal and non-federal holiday to explain why his pack and many shifter communities don't celebrate them.
" OK, surely Thanksgiving is excluded. How do you have something against giving thanks for what you have", I asked confused.
"Cleo, do you have no idea what happened to the Native Americans after the first Thanksgiving", he asked.
"Yes, I do, but now Thanksgiving means something totally different", I say with a whine.
"Tell that to the Native Americans", he said.
"Well, I want to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas", I said as he huffed and rolled his eyes.
"Cleo, Thanksgiving maybe, Christmas you might be pushing it", he said as he started to undress.
"Well, I just finished the invitations, they should be printed in your office. Please have some Omegas send out the invite please", I say with pleading eyes.
"If this makes you happy, fine, but don't be upset if no one comes to dinner", he said as he went into the bathroom to shower.
I ordered five hundred turkeys, one hundred pounds of sweet potatoes, two hundred fifty pounds of collard greens, two hundred sharp and mild cheddar cheese for the mac and cheese, and a whole bunch of other food for Thanksgiving.
Now the only problem I have is how the hell am I going to cook five hundred turkeys? Even if no one shows up, I can give the turkeys away, but if half of the pack members I invited actually come, I have to find a way to cook these damn turkeys. Once I get confirmation of the number of people that confirmd they are coming. I figure some turkyes can fry and others can be roasted.
"Baby you are stressing for no reason", he said, dripping wet. he knows why I am looking at him.
"I am not stressed", I am so lying through my teeth.
"I can feel your emotions and it is making me worry about you. We both know your stress is affecting the pups as well", he said as he dried his body off.
"I just realized I have to order a lot of food, and I have nowhere to cook it", I said finally giving in.
"What do you need baby?", he asked too calmly for my liking. I feel like he should be panicking for me.
"Honestly, I am going to need about six deep fryers and six ovens. Not to mention storage for all the stuff I have to order", I say, feeling frustrated.
"Babe, what style is the dinner?", he asked.
"Buffet", I said, starting to cry.
"Okay, so how about cooking?”, he asked.
“I didn’t think about how many people should help cook or cook. I know I and Jazz will be the main cooks”, I said.
“Baby you are pregnant. You can’t cook all that food even with Jazz help. You will be on your feet for hours”, he said. He is right fuck my life. My feet are starting to hurt just thinking about me being on them for hours.
How about we have the Omegas cook in shifts. I will make sure the Omegas work nonstop in shifts", he said as he tried to calm me down.
"Val, we can’t do that they are invited as well", I said, hoping he wouldn't be mad. I invited the help, as some like to call them.
"Okay, so after each shift they can come to the dinner and go back to work", he said, like he was solving my problems.
"I don't like the idea of them going back to work after eating", I said.
"Okay, so how about those that help you cook take the rest of the day off after they eat", he said compromising with me.
"That sounds great. I hope people RSVP", I said sadly. Knowing no one might not show up.
"They will babe", he said as he helped me take off my clothes to take a bath.
"Thanks for the support", I said as I slowly sat in the tub with lavender in it.
"My pleasure baby. I will order the fryers and ovens, you order the food, have Jazz handle the decoration in the great hall. I will have West will find something to do to help also”, he said as he used his hand to pour water on my back.
