***Robert POV:***
As soon as I got the call that Cleo had left the pack lands, I followed. I figured he would be with her, but no matter, I would wait until the right time and approach her. If I have to kill him today to get to her, I would. It's been two hours. I have been waiting in the car watching the buildings. And sure enough, he comes walking out of the building alone, leaving Cleo alone.
I got out of the car and took the elevator to her apartment, checking the door. That asshole left the door unlocked. I walked in and the sight before me made my heart melt. Cleo is lying on the couch, legs spread wide open. I can even see her bump clearly. She has grown a lot since the last time I saw her. I gently shake her so she can wake up. I don't know how long we have before the shifter comes back.
"Cleo baby wakes up", I say as I try to wake her up.
"Val, let me sleep. I promise I will eat all my food", she says in a sleepy tone.
"Cleo baby wake up", I said louder.
"Okay I am up", I watch as she looks at me in surprise.
"Robert, what are you doing here? How...how did you get in here?", she said, shocked with a little bit of fear.
"I came for you. I wanted to see how you were doing. I've been worried about you", I said, holding her hand.
"Robert, I am fine. You have to go. I am not here alone", she says with a worried face. That's proof she must still love me.
"I plan on leaving and taking you with me...baby I know I messed up. I still love you and I don't care if you are pregnant by someone else", I said as I cupped her face.
"Robert, that's not what I am saying. I literally can't leave with you. My babies are at risk if I do, and besides, I love Valenzano", she said, and my grip became hard on me.
"You hate the shifter world. And now you tell me you love a shifter", I couldn't believe what she was saying.
"Robert, what we had is over. I love you as a human, but I can't leave with you. I can't choose you over my babies. We had our time together and it didn't last. Please respect my decision", she said as she put her hands on mine.
"Cleo, baby I can't…I still love you and I will never stop loving you. You need to come with me now before that Alpha comes back", I said as I helped her up.
"ROBERT NO! I can't go with you. Please just leave Robert. I don't need the stress", she says as she rubs her bump.
"Cleo, I know I fucked up but please give me a chance and I will make it up to you every day of our lives together", I said with pleading eyes.
I watch as she looks at the front door. I know she is expecting that Alpha to come in any second and that is why I need to get her out of here as soon as possible. I watch as she slowly backs up from me and starts to vomit on the floor. I ran to her and rubbed her back to soothe her. She passed out. We need to leave like as soon as possible. I don't want to bump into that Alpha on the way carrying her out. I lifted her up bridal style and walked toward the door and was met with golden eyes.
***Valenzano POV:***
I leave to get Cleo and me some food. As I walked to the pizzeria, a sense of pride came over me. Cleo wants to be my wife. She wants to be with me forever. There is no way we are not going to be married before the pups are born. We have got about three and a half months to get married, mate and prepare for the pups. I will have to go ring shopping once I get back.
Ordering our food, I had an uneasy feeling. I shook it off and paid for the food, and headed to the apartment. As I got into the building, I smelled a scent. It's familiar but I can't place it. The scent gets stronger as I get closer to the apartment. I open the door and place the food on the table in the kitchen and walk towards the living room where the smell is strongest. What I saw almost made me lose my shit. That fucking Hunter had my mate in his arms and she looked passed out.
"PUT HER THE FUCK DOWN NOW!", I growled as I looked at my passed-out mate.
"At last we meet without any interruptions, Alpha", he says as he kisses Cleo's forehead.
"WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE TO MY MATE!", I didn't want to make any sudden movement. I don't want him to drop her and my pups.
"I love her. I will never hurt her. She passed out after she vomited", he says as he nodded to the vomit on the floor.
"SHE IS NOT YOURS. SHE IS MINE AND THOSE PUPS SHE IS CARRYING ARE MINE AS WELL. IF I WAS YOU, HUNTER, I WOULD PUT HER DOWN AND LEAVE WHILE YOU CAN", I growled, trying to hold Vintage back.
"He is trapped. He can't leave. We are blocking the only way out", Vintage says, as we listen to the pup's heartbeats to make sure they are not in distress.
"Hunter give it up. You lost her. She doesn't love or wants you anymore. You fucked that up when you left her in the hospital. I actually owe you a debt of gratitude and, by that way, THANK YOU for leaving her. Who knows if you weren't a sorry excuse for a man, she might be pregnant by you right now", I said with a smirk, trying to get under his skin, and, by the looks of it, he is getting upset.
"Whatever happened in the past is the past. In time she will forgive me", he said as he kissed her again.
"Hunter, you have one more time to kiss my mate and I will rip you apart", I said, extending my claws.
"The name is Robert, and you wouldn't dare see Cleo. She hates violence now. Imagine if you did rip me to shreds, you think when she wakes up she will forgive you for it", he says as he rubs her face.
