**Cleo POV: **
Waking up in Valenzano's arms is the best feeling I have had in a long time. His arms never left my waist. We peacefully slept in each other's arms. I don't feel as sore as I felt the first night. We were intimate, and I do feel fulfilled. My hair is curly in my eyes. Damn, I mentally slapped myself. I got my hair wet (black girl problems), now I have to get another blowout.
"Good morning", Valenzano says as he kisses my forehead.
"Good morning to you too", I said as I kissed his lips.
"How are you feeling ", he asked me after every time we have sex.
"I feel great", I said, smiling from ear to ear. Who knew that great dick makes a chick feel like she is on top of the world?
"Good after breakfast, I need you to meet me in my office", he said.
"For?", I asked.
"I just need to talk to you about something", he said, and suddenly I felt nervous.
"Can't we talk about it now?", I asked, curiously as to what he wanted to talk about in his office that we can't talk about it here.
"No, eat first, then come to my office", he said them he walked towards the door.
"Wait, aren't you going to eat with us?", I asked, hoping he would.
"No, I have some business to handle", he says as he grabbed my ass, kissed me, then go to the bathroom.
After breakfast, I go to Valenzano's office so we could talk. I am kind of nervous about what he wants to talk about. The days we have been getting to know each other have been good. And if there is anything he wants to know about me, I am willing to tell him. I hope he just doesn't ask me about Robert and our divorce, that is just something I am not willing to share with anyone. I went to his office and knocked.
"Come in", he says.
"Hey, you wanted to talk", I just want to get this conversation over with. I got a feeling I was not going to like this conversation.
"Yes, it's about gathering. There is a brunch that the Luna and female Beta host for the visiting Lunas and female Betas. And I was wondering since this is Jazz first-time hosting, would you like to co-host with her or help her with the preparation.
"Sure, I would love to cohost with Jazz", I am so happy that's all it was.
He hands me a list of the packs that are coming to attend. I take the list and look at the pack names and my heart stops. I saw the Dragon Moon pack. I haven't thought about them since I was seventeen. I gave him back the list.
"I don't think I should know what I think about it", I said, trying not to cry. That pack destroyed my fucking life.
"Why", he is looking at me confused.
And I got it. I said yes and in a second, I changed my mind. I must tell him and, just like the story of Robert and me, this is something I never wanted to talk about.
"I have a past with one of the packs on this list", I said lowing my head in hurt and shame.
"Really...which one....and why", he says with a confused look. He is asking me too many questions, and I don't think I can hold my emotions in.
"Have you ever heard of the Grip Moon pack?", I asked if he is as old as he says he is he would have heard about the pack.
"Yes, they were wiped out", he said.
"They were wiped out by the Dragon Moon pack", I said trying not to cry.
"What does that have to do with you Cleo", now he seemed eager to know.
"It was the Alpha of the Grip Moon pack daughter", I say, trying to hold in my tears.
"But your human", he says in shock.
"My mom was the Alpha, second chance mate. She was pregnant with me when she met the Alpha. I was born in the pack, but not of it", I watch his face hoping he doesn't freak out.
"Let me get this straight, you are the adoptive daughter of the Alpha of the Grip Moon pack", his eyes damn near fell out of his face.
"Yes, but there is more. The Alpha had a son from his first mate. He was just a boy before I was born. We grew up as brother and sister but h left and came back a man. When he returned to the pack, I was 14 and he was 20. Somehow, we fell in love and he chose me as his chosen mate. One year went by and we started planning our mating ceremony. Before that happened, he was sent out to the Dragon Moon pack to conclude a peace treaty. When he came back, I sensed something was wrong", i said deeding this story of my life.
***Flashback Start ***
*"Cleo, Danny is back from his trip", I heard my mom yell from the front door.
Mom and dad are waiting at the front to greet Danny and the pack warriors that left with him. In two days, we will have our mating ceremony. I run into his arms; his grip is unusually tight. Once I looked at him, I realized he looked stressed and upset.
"Danny, what's wrong?", I asked.
"I found my mate, Cleo", he said with hurt on his face.
"Your mate?", my heart drops.
"Yes", he said, looking like he did not want to have this conversation.
"Who is she?" I asked, looking around, thinking he had come back with her.
"She was the daughter of the Dragon Moon pack Alpha", I said, and my mom gasped.
"Where is she?", I asked.
"Cleo, you know I love you so much", he says as he runs his finger through my hair.
"That doesn't answer my question", I said, looking him in my eyes. Something is wrong and he is not trying to tell me.
"She's dead Cleo", he said, and I could see the pain in his eyes.
"What!", I said, shocked.
"She killed herself, babe", he said with remorse.
"Why would she do that?", I asked.
"Because I rejected her. I want you as my mate and Luna, fated mate or not", he says with so much love and worries.
"WHAT!", I heard mom and dad say at the same time. I totally forgot they were standing there.
"War is coming. We need to prepare", Danny says as he rubs my cheek.
"Why is a war coming?", Dad asked.
"The Alpha blames me for her death", he said looking at my father. *
***End of flashback ***
"And war did come, I watch as my pack was slaughtered. My mom, dad, sisters, brother, were mercilessly slaughtered. I watched as Danny's head was ripped off in front of me by the Alpha. I used a sliver grenade and used wolfsbane spray to cover my scent and I ran until I couldn't run anymore and somehow my ex-husband Robert found me sleeping in the woods". I didn't realize I was crying until Valenzano wiped my tears away.
He lifts my chin and looked me in the eyes with love and says", as long as I live no one will hurt you".
"It's not me I am worried about. I don't want another pack destroyed because of me", I said, crying in his arms.
"You will make an excellent Luna. But you have nothing to worry about", he said as he kissed my forehead. I leave to go find Jazz.
