Chapter 145: Fatal Accident
After a few more rings, I heard Julian’s nonchalant tone. “Yeah?”
“If you know what’s good for you, you’ll get your ass back here right now.” I snarled through my teeth and gave Grace’s hair a brutal tug, making her scream in pain again.
“Sukia?! How did you–”
“Did you hurt Amy?” I cut him off. “Where is she? What did you do??”
“...Nothing.” His tune turned into a chilly mutter. “Nothing yet.”
“There isn’t gonna be a yet! Get the fuck back here or your twin gets it!” I shouted into the phone and hung up before he could utter a single word. Julian knew I was mad enough to do something to her, too.
The question is; what do I do when he gets back here? By then, Amy should be back somewhere safe. As for me… I gulped. This was my last chance to escape, and it had to be used like this. I was all out of cards up my sleeve. I’m really screwed this time.
“You messed up,” Grace spoke my thoughts out loud, just like Julian did. Was I really that easy to read?! Or is my situation just that obvious? “Julian won’t go easy on you this time.”
“Shut up!” I gave her hair another rough tug.
Grace shrieked in pain, but it wasn’t enough to silence her. “I can’t believe you still have feelings for him. He still has that recording I took of you disgusting pigs fucking on the staircase and the photos he took of you both in the art room. And he watches them every. Single. Night.” She smirked. “And you’re about to be left alone with him again. I don’t think his mercy will stretch so far this time. He won’t care if you’re pregnant if he gets angry enough.”
“I said shut the fuck up!” I shoved her face onto the floor this time. “You wanted me to get out of here since day one! Fucking help me get outta here and I’ll never come back!”
Grace looked up at me with a familiar, hateful blue fire in her eyes that mimicked Julian’s. The eyes reflected ferocious intentions. But instead of spitting venom, she smiled. “You really thought I wanted you to stay? Ha! Fine, I’ll bide you time but you’re gonna have to run off into the woods. He’ll find you running around the side of the road like an idiot.”
“Fuck you.” I spat before getting off of her. I flinched when a jolt of pain went up my leg. It was nearing its limit, too. When we both got up, I pointed down the staircase. “Lady’s first.” I wasn’t about to let Grace walk behind me going down the staircase. That’s a death sentence. Well, a second one… fuck knows what Julian will do to me when he gets back here. I need to get out of here before I find out.
Grace scoffed and led the way downstairs and into the kitchen. I waited in the living room for her to get whatever she needed. I should’ve taken the chance to run through the woods a long time ago. Sure, there’s a chance I’ll just get lost and freeze to death, but it’d be better than this, right? I’d have a better fighting chance.
My impatience grew. “The fuck is taking so long?” Right as I limped my way into the kitchen, my heart leaped into my throat when Grace rushed me with a deafening scream and that giant knife I’d seen before held high. I instantly took swift steps backward, but my wound thigh unbalanced me and I ended up falling to the floor again.
“I don’t know why Julian is so obsessed with trash like you! Why he’s so madly in love with you!” She kicked me while I was down, right into my bandaged thigh. I cried out in pain, but still held onto my stomach tightly in a feeble attempt to protect it. “He so proudly declares that he got you pregnant and will marry you. Disgusting. Dad will be furious. And if he isn’t, I’ll make him be!” Grace kicked me again in the leg and I flinched at the pain of her heels. “I bet that isn’t even Julian’s baby, is it, whore?”
“Fuck you!” I snarled up at her, my fire never dying.
Right as Grace was going to give me a brutal kick in the abdomen, I slashed her ankle with the broken mirror. She screamed in pain and collapsed. The lactation was deep and long, but not enough to cut any tendons, unfortunately. As soon as she was down, I struggled to haul myself back onto my feet. I was weaker and more clumsy. Each limp was dragged as I dashed to the front door but Grace recovered quicker than I expected and quickly blocked my exit. She pointed her knife at me. “Julian is going to kill you, anyway. I might as well help him out.”
*What?! He wouldn’t!* Even though I had a sharp object to protect myself too, I knew she’d overpower me in my condition. *Fuck!* I had no choice. I spun around and raced my way back up the staircase, knowing nowhere else to run but the safety of my room. My clumsiness resulted in me having to crawl up the staircase, and I couldn’t break free when Grace grabbed me by my ankles and dragged me back.
“Fuck! Let go!!” I screamed and tried to kick free.
“You never should’ve come here!” Grace lifted her knife again, about to stab it into my calf.
“You think I’m scared of you?!” I whirled around and kicked her in the chest. “You should’ve never crossed me!”
Grace shrieked when she lost her balance on the staircase. This time it was her turn to roll down it with loud thuds and crashes. I could’ve sworn I heard the snap of several bones before slamming onto the floor below. At first, she didn’t move, and I wondered if she was knocked unconscious.
“You still alive, hoe?” I called with sass. She responded with a pained, gurgled groan and I felt a sinking boulder in my gut. The growing pool of blood beneath her told me that the same thing that happened to me just happened to her. But when she rolled over, I saw her knife wasn’t in her thigh, it was in her abdomen. My heart thumped harshly behind my chest wall as I saw her creamy skin slowly grow pale until she stopped moving.
*Holy fucking shit…*
“G–Grace…?” I called out hesitantly, but she gave no response. I already knew the answer to my question.
*What do I do?! If–*
My pounding heart jolted worse than a horror movie’s jump scare when the door unlocked and Julian walked through.
“Grace? …” His worry for his twin fell dead silent when he saw her motionless, bloodied body on the floor.
