Chapter 38: Light Switch
I can still feel my cheeks burning as he held my body firmly against his, the feeling of his fingers pressing into my skin left an odd feeling that aroused me further. I could even feel what was between his thighs begin to harden and twitch against my buttocks.
*Damn it… damn it!*
I finally managed to snap myself out of it and pulled out of his grip. As soon as I did, I whirled around to face him and he quickly took several steps backward to prepare himself for another brutal punch to the gut. Smart move.
“You know what I want, Julian? You know what I fucking want?” I spoke with my words intertwined with a growl. “Just leave me the hell alone. I’m done with you. Whatever you think is going on here, it’s over.”
With that, I turned around and marched away, heading to the door that led into the mansion without looking back.
“Suki, wait!” Julian called after me with desperation at first until I gripped the doorknob. As soon as I did, his voice suddenly changed. “Sukia.” his voice had suddenly become deep and demanding. It made me stop in my tracks and instinctively turn around to look at him. Those gorgeous blue eyes of his hand that familiar hostile glare in them. Though it wasn’t as intense as before, it was still directed at me. A scorching fire had returned to them, threatening to burn me to a crisp.
“You can’t walk away from me, Sukia.” his voice remained deep and cold.
“Yeah? Watch me.” I sassed the man and opened the door. I refused to be intimidated.
“I think you’re forgetting something important. You live here with me. I’m already well aware that you’re only living here to make sure you’re mother will be safe and happy, and I’m well aware of your trust issues too. So it looks like you’ll be living here for a while. Like I said, you’re not going anywhere. But don’t worry.” his smile unexpectedly turned into a grin. “You’re big brother will take care of you.”
I grit my teeth in disgust and frustration before giving him an angered shout. “Fuck you!” I screamed my last words before slamming the door shut behind me.
As I marched through the mansion, I grumbled curses under my breath with my hands balled into tight fists. Of course, I was furious but what frustrated me the most was how I hesitated when faced against his anger. I have never frozen up when facing someone else’s ire. And yet he still caught my attention.
*He doesn’t scare me.*
I remind myself of this fact. My stomach churned with nausea as I cringed at the recent memory of his words. He had intentionally called himself my brother, just to get under my skin. Julian had never tried to purposely make me uncomfortable or attempt to harm me with his words before. Never. That’s what startled me and took me off guard. The submissive, attentive man had suddenly become sadistic and possessive like a light switch.
*Is this what Grace meant by him being a psycho?*
“Suki!” I jumped when I heard a feminine voice behind me. When I spun around, my stiff body relaxed when I saw it was my mother. “Dinner is ready, sweetie. Oh.” my mother looked taken aback when she saw me relax so much that I almost fell. “Are you ok, honey?? You aren’t looking too well. Do you want me to make you some tea? I know just the right kind to make you feel better.”
“No, Mom, I’m fine.” my attempt to reassure the woman proved to be futile because she still looked very concerned. I almost forgot she’s as stubborn as I am.
“Are you sure? If you want, you can eat your dinner in your bedroom so that you can rest. I’m sure Gabriel wouldn’t mind.” my mother gave me a sweet smile that made my heart melt. She was the only one in my life that could ever do that to me.
I give a weak smile, I didn’t realize how tired I was until she said those words to me. “Actually… yeah. Yeah, I’d appreciate that. Thanks, Mom.”
“Of course, honey. Whatever you need.” the older woman who was the same height as me stepped forward and gave me a kiss on my cheek. “I’ll prepare your plate and drink in a minute. Go ahead to your room. Later on, I’ll bring you dessert. It’s sugar cookies tonight.” she then gives me a wink. “It’s still your favorite, right? I baked them just for you.”
“Yes, they’re still my favorite.” I chuckled a bit and the thought of tasting my favorite type of cookie that I hadn’t eaten in years started to make my mouth water. Being around my mother’s positive energy was always enjoyably refreshing. Unless she was lecturing me of course.
When my mother waved me off I turned and went upstairs to my bedroom. I take in a deep breath as if trying to ease the fire in my heart. It felt incredibly good to have a space that I could call mine. Let alone a room and bed this big.
I flopped onto my bouncy bed and closed my eyes. No surprise, I immediately dozed off. I wasn’t sure how long I was asleep but I was apparently snoring because I woke up with a snort when I heard knocking on my door. “C… coming, coming…”
When I came to open the door, my mother held out a plate with colorful pasta and a piece of garlic bread along with my favorite soda. I was touched that she remembered the kind of soda I liked.
There was a big smile on her face as she handed me the food that was her first time making. “I’m having everyone do a vote! Tell me whether or not it’s worth cooking again, alright? Enjoy!”
I gave her a smile and a nod of my head before she left and I sat down on the cushiony chair next to my window. I prop up my legs on the footrest while eating my food. No surprise, it was delicious. My mother always had a knack for cooking. Being married to a millionaire meant having enough money to buy all the ingredients she’d ever need to cook with.
*I’ll have to give her two thumbs up for this one. I hope there are seconds.*
Not long after I finish my food I hear a knock at my door. I couldn’t help but light up with excitement, I knew it was my sugar cookies. Despite my excitement, I was still a lazy ass and was pretty comfortable in my chair so I called out to my mother instead. “The door is open, come on in.”
When the door creaked open and I saw my plate of a dozen cookies, my expression immediately dropped when I saw that the holder wasn't my mother.
*It was Julian.*
And when he came into my room he locked the door behind himself.
