Chapter 46: Twins Are What??
I caught my footing just in time before I could fall down on my rear and so did the person in front of me. My anger instantly sparked. “Fucking dammit, Julian, I–”
“Excuse me??” a feminine voice snapped back at me. I had gone into a cursing fit without even realizing who it was in front of me.
*Yet again, you fuckers look identical…*
I huffed and crossed my arms. “You heard me. Not my fault you both swap faces.” I wasn’t even going to apologize for my mistake. She didn’t need an apology anyway.
Grace majestically flipped her ashy blonde hair over her shoulder with a pretty voice that hissed. “Screw you, rat.” she looked over my shoulder back at the garage suspiciously. “What do you think you’re doing in there? I know Julian wasn’t in there with you. The book nerd is in the library.”
I snorted at the arrogant woman’s sass. It was beyond amusing to me when she acted as if she could counter my own foulness. “Did you just call your twin a book nerd? Shit, I thought twins always have each other’s backs or something like that. Bummer nobody is watching yours.”
“ANSWER me, *mutt!*” Grace raised her voice this time but just barely quiet enough for nobody else on the other side of the mansion to hear.
I could feel a vein in my neck bulge with rising annoyance. I hated it when she treated me like a stray dog off of the streets. “Your daddy just gave me a free Tesla. You know, the black one?” I leaned in closer to her face with the nastiest of smirks. “It’s a fine ride alright. Maybe you and I can have some *fun* in it. Whatcha say?”
Grace gave an overly dramatic gasp as if she had just heard the world was about to end. “There’s no way in–” She didn’t even finish her sentence because she could tell I wasn’t lying. Her face fumed red before she stormed off with her hands clutched in tight fights. “DADDY!”
My smirk remained on my lips. Nothing makes my day more than getting what I want and making that bitch futilely furious over it.
*Now then. Where was I?*
I decided to spend some quality time with my mother. It wasn’t often I got to do that and, because of me, it’s been a long time since we spent a lot of one-on-one time together. I searched all over the mansion, starting with her and Gabriel’s room and even Gabriel’s office.
*Oh, don’t fucking tell me…*
I heaved a loud, frustrated sigh. The only place I didn’t look and the first place I should’ve checked was the library. I was hoping that I’d get lucky and she’d already be in the rose garden.
*Fuck my fucking life…*
As I headed up to the library I mentally prepared myself for my inevitable and unenviable interaction with Julian. After my last time crossing paths with him, I was still furious with him over last night. When I went to the library I saw the two of them sitting at a table with their books out, seemingly having a pleasant conversation.
*Fucking fuck this fuckery…!!! *
I screamed internally while trying to keep a straight face. As I approached them with my hands in my pockets I spoke to my mother while completely ignoring Julian as if he weren’t even in the room. “Hey, Mom.”
My mother looked up with a startled expression as if she had just come face to face with a ghost. “Oh! Suki, love, you bout made me have a heart attack!”
“Yeah, let's not do that. You wanna take a stroll with me in the rose garden?”
“A stroll in the rose garden?” she put her finger to her lips in thought, something cute she’d subconsciously do that I would never get tired of seeing. “It sounds like a lovely idea. But first I want to show you something interesting. Come, come!” she beckoned me closer with a wave of her freckled hand, her summer leaf-green eyes sparkled with wonder. I hadn’t seen them sparkle so much in years so I heaved a loud sigh and walked over to them instead of giving her a hard pass.
The table only had two chairs and Julian stood up the moment I took one step towards the table. I was able to hesitate but my mother patted the seat that Julian had previously been sitting in.
*Oh, fuck me sideways.*
I internally cursed but still came over to the chair, unfortunately brushing past Julian on the way through.
*He did that on purpose! Fucker could’ve moved a few feet back!*
“Look at this!” she pointed at some pictures in a book. They were on a beach with a beautiful sunset. I don’t get to see pictures like this often considering that I spent most of my life on the streets, so even a little photo like this dazzled me as well. “Isn’t it gorgeous?”
“Uh, yeah… yeah, it’s pretty cool. But what about it?” I asked confusedly while still staring at the picture in the book.
“I want to go there. Gabriel said that we could all go there on vacation sometime. How would you feel about that?”
Such a simple question sparked excitement in me. Enough so that it even surprised me by the sudden spike. Though I remained silent, my eyes must’ve shown my answer because her smile widened as she watched me. I quickly cleared my throat with a coughing sound to cover up my tracks which showed that I was still human. “That’s kinda extra… sure, it looks cool, but is it really worth the travel? Looks far away.”
“Of course it is! There are all kinds of neat things there. There are restaurants that I have never heard of before. They saw they sell fish to die for and plenty of ice cream shops too. If you’re still into those.” she gave me a wink and I could feel my mouth drool on the inside while internally cursing myself again. “There’s also an interesting landmark that has been there for centuries. It’s a spring and a special one at that. Apparently it was blessed and whoever goes it becomes more fertile.”
“Wait, WHAT.” I looked at her with wide eyes. Surely she wouldn’t?!
My mother sheepishly laughed while rubbing the back of her neck, a blush coating her freckled cheeks. “Not me! Not me. I just thought it was interesting is all. We’re too old to have any more kids, not to mention twins run in the family gene pool. I’m very happy with only having you as my baby girl.” she laid her hand on top of mine.
I usually would’ve spitted fire when she treated me like a child but I was too focused on a different topic. “Wait, twins are what?”
“Twins are hereditary.” came the masculine voice on the other side of my ear, I had completely forgotten about Julian’s presence until now. And he definitely reminded me he was still next to me leaning over and placing his hand on the back of my chair while pointing at the book. In just seconds he was close enough to me that I could feel his body heat and become smothered in his intoxicating scent. “I already knew that though. It’s not often I get to teach your mother something. Isabella seems to know everything.”
*Not in front of my mom, asshole! *
I wanted to push him off and retort that he was too close but I didn’t want to make a scene in front of my other when we were supposed to be two siblings spending time together. The thought of twins being hereditary made my heart thump in my chest. After each time we had sex I couldn’t recall whether or not he pulled out, I was always too worked up and lost in the moment.
*Surely he did, right? Right?? He’s not that fucked up, right? RIGHT???*
I could feel my cheeks burn at the thought of having Julian’s twins. Tiny half-Sukia half-Julian gremlins terrorizing everybody and plotting to burn the world down.
My mother noticed my reddening face and her ginger brows knitted together in concern. “Honey? Are you alright? You’re not looking well.”
“I, uh, need some air. These books are stuffy as fuck.” I grumbled and Julian quickly took a step back before I could shove him off. The man could read me like one of his books and it annoyed the fuck outta me.
“I’ll meet you outside, honey.” Mom smiled at me as I left the library in a rush.
The moment I stepped out, I felt my phone vibrate and was surprised by who it was.
*Liam? Already?*
Before I could even think about responding, a strong hand grabbed my wrist. I looked up at Julian, startled not by his actions but by his expression.
