Chapter 78: Jealous Girlfriend
I pulled up onto the sidewalk since the entire front yard was crowded with cars. I could feel myself get sick to my stomach in an instant. I had almost completely forgotten that being surrounded by people doesn’t exactly make me feel like I’m in the safest place.
After growing up on the west-side of the city, I learned real fast that groups of people spelled trouble. But Julian has shown me several times that the east-side was nothing like that. Groups of people meant something fun was going on. Or something bad. Either way, nobody wasn’t being jumped by cutthroats.
*Julian isn’t here to rub my back…*
I felt a tightness in my throat full of frustration and longing. I hated the feeling of wanting him at my side to make me feel more comfortable but at the same time, I yearned for it. My thoughts were snapped to an end when I heard the click of Grace’s door opening.
“Hurry up!” she impatiently called to me before slamming the door shut.
*Fucking hell… didn’t know she was this impatient.*
I hated to admit it but being in Grace’s presence did make me feel a little better when being surrounded by people. Maybe it was because she looked like Julian, and she kinda carried herself like him too. The only way I could describe it was with elegance. Which, they definitely were… that was the only way I could describe them.
As I followed after Grace the bass from the music inside the house was beginning to get so loud that it rattled my ear drums. The loud noise of multiple people talking didn’t exactly help. But the song playing was something I’ve heard too many times from speeding cars on the west-side. My taste. Nice.
I followed my stepsister through the crowd of partying people who looked around my age. Probably in college too. Grace looked like she was on a mission looking for somebody so I figured I better stick close to her side. Nobody here was dressed fancy. Only her… well, a couple wore some slutty dresses but that was it.
Suddenly a drunk dude just stumbled in front of us, the plastic red cup kept dripping whatever alcohol was within it because he couldn’t hold it steady. “Graaaash, you lok fiz.”
“Oh my god, Ron, get out of here. You stink of booze, go find Becky.” Grace spoke in that arrogant tone of hers I had grown used to.
*Huh. So I’m not as special as I thought I was. I don’t know how I feel about that.*
“Graa… I,” he hiccuped in the middle of the sentence. I couldn’t understand a single word coming out of this guy's mouth.
“Do you fuckin’ mind? Your breath makes me want to puke.” I said the same thing Grace said but in my own colorful language.
This Ron dude looked at me wide-eyed as if he didn’t notice I was there until now. “Hoow… whooo??” he looked like he was about to puke.
*You better fucking now.*
It may have been incoherent but I could still make out what he was about to say. I wrapped my arm around Grace’s shoulder and gave him a sarcastic smirk. “None of your business. Get lost.”
Grace practically leaped into my arms and hugged me tightly before giving him the stink eye. “You heard her! Go away!”
Damn. Didn’t think she’d just hop right into acting like that… though she’s definitely not nearly as good as Julian. That man is a genius. This woman is just dramatic.
The dude called Ron looked mortally wounded as he grabbed his chest. He slurred something before stumbling away from us and into the crowd. I heard a crash from the direction he went and somebody screamed about getting their leg hurt.
Grace lifted her chin with a prideful. “Hmph~”
“Just show me the fucker you wanna make jealous, aight? This place is getting me claustrophobic.” I grumbled grouchily.
She looked at me with a lifted, dark blonde brow. “What? Don’t be a wimp, I thought you’d be used to these kinds of things.”
I yanked Grace closer and squeezed her small waist tightly, making her wince. “Call me a wimp again and–”
“Oh, Grace! How–” The sound of a woman approaching us stopped midgreeting. When we looked at her I felt Grace’s body heat spike but the stranger had her eyes on me.
I take it this is the lady Grace is trying to make jealous. Damn. Didn’t know she was into women too. Fucking hilarious. I wonder if her daddy knows? Yet again… Gabriel is the last person on earth that’d ever judge somebody like that.
Grace cleared her throat to attract attention back to her. “Oh, I believe you too haven’t met. Sasha, this is my girlfriend, Sukia.”
“Sukia, huh?” Sasha brushed some of her auburn bangs behind her ear while looking me up and down. “When did you get a girlfriend?”
“Why does it matter to you?” Grace snapped while crossing her arms, making the three of us go silent.
*Smooth, sis. You really know how to pull shit like this off.*
I wrapped my arm around Grace’s waist more comfortably this time. “Welp. We got things to do and places to see sooo if you don’t mind moving out of the way that would be great. Move.” my overly polite tone ended with a grouchy grumble as I moved past Sasha and a couple of other people in the way, dragging Grace along with me.
As soon as we had some distance away from other people I looked at her with narrowed eyes and a sarcastic voice. “You’re a piece of shit.”
“Stop it!” Grace whined as she crossed her arms and looked away from me.
*Okayyyy…*
“Pretty girl got a boy toy or somethin’?”
Grace gave a quiet shrug of her slim shoulders with her eyes on the ground. I was starting to understand why she dressed up so fancy. She was trying to impress that Sasha chick. I slapped my forehead. “Yeahh, you’re a real piece of shit. Just put your bikini on and razzle-dazzle your hair or something. I don’t know. Look sexy, not like a Victorian dropout.”
Grace’s face flushed and she shot me that venomous glare of hers before walking off. As I watched her go I let out a tired sigh.
*Yup. I’m regretting this.*
“Sukia…?” I heard Sasha’s voice behind me and I turned around to look at me. Her brows were knitted together and she had a worried look on her face.
*Oh boy. Here we go again.*
Her amber gaze went from side to side as if deliberately trying to avoid making eye contact with me but it was so obvious it was a lie I couldn’t help but smirk. I don’t know why but this keeps making all the mother fuckers in my life blush; from those little pink shades to a fainting fluster.
“What do you want. I gotta take off my clothes.” I lifted my brows with a stare. “Did you wanna help me out? Kinda hard to try the knot on my back. You know. Big titties can be a pain in the ass. And spine.” I looked down at her own breasts.
*Not that you’d understand.*
I was purposely trying to ruffle the hen’s feathers as if it was time to get a nest ready for some egg-laying time. She cleared her throat while shyly avoiding my gaze this time. “You’re a funny woman. I can see why Grace is in love with you.”
“Oh yeah? It’s that obvious, huh?” I did my best to keep the sarcasm out of my voice. Grace was a shitty ass actor. And something told me that Sasha could spot it a mile away.
Sasha twirled her hair around her finger the same way Grace did earlier. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time with other women so times like these were like an educational channel for me and I was the main character. Funny.
“I mean, she’s quite fond of you. And, like, really clingy.” she looked me up and down like she would to a man trying to hypnotize them with her good looks.
*Seriously? You gotta be kidding me… wait, wait, wait. Actually, I might just have a good time here. This’ll be fun.*
I felt a surge of feverish excitement at the thought of playing one of my old games. I could tell it was putting an expression on my face but I couldn’t tell what it was. I did see Sasha look at me the same way Scarlett would before I’d take her to bed.
Sasha took a step backward as I leaned forward. “Wanna find out?”
