Chapter 12

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I saw Michael was not comfortable going out with me, but I really needed him to tell me whatever it was he had with Louise.
Different from what I planned, I told him we would drive instead of taking the walk we agreed on.
He reluctantly entered the car with me and I drove off as soon as I ignited the engine.
"Take it easy. Your speed is too much." He said as I drove.
I never knew him to fear speed. I love speed, only heights frighten me.
"Where are we going?" He asked me as I nodded to the music playing, moving my body steadily alongside.
"Nowhere in particular. I just want to hang out with you for a while." I responded, still moving with the music.
"Stop the car." Michael commanded, and as soon as I heard it, I looked for a space and parked.
"Tell me what it is. It seems you feel I have something up my sleeves so spill." Michael said when I parked.
"There is nothing, Christopher. I am just angry that all along you have been living a very carefree life. You wouldn't have gotten yourself into this mess if you were proactive enough." He scolded me and I just went cold.
"I'm sorry I sounded harsh, but you must take up some responsibilities. Things would have been different if it were your brother."
"Don't you dare." I cut him short.
"Don't you ever mention my brother in any of our conversations again. Am I clear?" I repeated myself, and he nodded.
"Now to why we are here; What's up with you and Louise? I mean, I see all that you both are doing, but I seem to be missing something." I stated and faced the windscreen.
"The truth is, I have absolutely nothing to do with Louise. I have never liked her and would never do even if she has what it takes to save the world." He said bluntly, but I still found it difficult to believe him.
"That's fine. So, tell me, what else do you want me to do right?" I asked him, expecting him to say something like bring back Miriam.
"If there is one thing you should do right, is to stand up for all you represent." He said and turned to face me, but I didn't look at him.
"You are great, Christopher, you just have to do more." He added and took hold of my hand.
All I have done is trust people, I just hope it doesn't get rubbed in my face.
I took a deep breath and tried to take in all he had just said. He is the only one that could talk to me without fear. Oh Miriam, she too, but she is gone now.
"Can we have a drink somewhere?" I asked him and he accepted. I turned on the engine and we drove off to one of the calmest places in the world. It was an exclusive club where only business was transacted.
"Why are we here?" He asked me as soon as I pulled into the parking lot.
"To drink and discuss business." I said as I turned off the car and stepped down.
The club had a fuller house than I expected. It was always scanty, so I was surprised, but then I remembered it was the weekend. Everyone had some good time to spare and decided to use it for something tangible.
I met a few friends as I walked in and I started greeting people from the door until I got to the spot I usually sat. They always reserved my space for me.
"What would you like to drink?" A beautiful waitress walked up to me and asked me. Her voice sounds like she sings because it was so melodious.
"Wine would do." I responded as I scanned her whole body in a second.
Before she came back with the drink, Michael was already there with me.
They both looked at each other like love had enchanted them.
I had to clear my throat to remind them I was still seated here.
"I'm Michael." Michael said, stretching out his hand for a handshake.
I had to beat down his hand.
"Courtesy demands that a lady be the one to stretch out her hand first for a handshake and not the other way round." I corrected him as I opened the drink.
"My bad." He responded and picked up his glass.
"I'm Joan." The waitress said with a beautiful smile, without extending a hand for a handshake again.
"Good to meet you." Michael said as he sipped the drink, I just served him.
"Good to meet you, Michael." She said and turned around to leave.
"You made me miss touching her, you know?" Michael chuckled, and I laughed, raising my glass.
"Next time, you could just pull her for a kiss." I joked, and we both bursted out with laughter.
"Was that how you got Miriam to say yes?" He added and my smile disappeared.
"Come on man, she is not that bad you know?" He said in a bid to calm me down.
"I miss her." I responded, and he dropped his glass and hugged me.
I have actually avoided those words, and it's accompanying emotions, but I just had to let it out.
It is going to be fine" he said, and I forced a smile.
"And you are going to get that lady laid, right?" I asked him and he pretended not to hear me, so I smacked his back and he jerked in shock.
"Look, if you are going after this one, then be ready to keep her." I told him and stood up to my feet and adjusted my trousers.
"That's only if I am an Alpha who needs a Luna." Michael said and those words rang a bell, but I decided not to read any form of meaning into it. I took it as one of his jokes.
"Call me when you are done." He said to me and stood up to leave.
"Where are you going?" I asked, because I was really anxious. I wanted us to have a good time and take our minds off the incident of last night, but it seems he wasn't interested.
"I know I have gotten into your skin lately and I am sorry. Please don't get withdrawn." I begged him and he gave me a smirk.
"I am not getting withdrawn. I just want to be alone for now. I will come around." He said and walked out.
I expected him to hang around anyone in the club or even Joan, but he went outside and I hated myself for what I did to him.
Everything just went off, so I also had to leave. As I came out, I saw him standing and staring at the clouds, which had already turned black with the glass in his hand.
The stars were already peeping through, but the moon was not yet out.
I stared at my beta and he looked like a stranger I have never met in all my life.
"What have I done to myself?" I asked myself, as I felt so weak.
"Weakness is not a good attribute. He said he will come around, so keep cool." My wolf advised me and I decided not to worry about it anymore.
"We should get going." I said to, and it startled him.
"Sorry I startled you." I apologised, and he nodded.
"I should go drop this." He said, shaking the empty glass in his hand.
"Let me have it." A feminine voice came from behind me and I turned to see it was Joan. She took the glass, and we thanked her. Then she walked into the club while I headed to the car.
Michael, in turn, stood still, watching her until her shadow was no longer visible.
Then we drove out of here.
We didn't speak on the way. Although Micheal said it was okay, but I felt there was a gap between us.
When we got home, we saw the two ladies seated at the dining table.
"You both are late." Emily scolded us, and we had to join in immediately
Dinner was as good as breakfast and I really enjoyed it, although I didn't eat much.
"Goodnight." Michael said as he left the table.
"Goodnight," we all responded.
I watched him climb the stairs and hoped he would turn around to say something to me.
Then he stopped and actually turned back, but said nothing.
He came to the table, called my name and as I responded, he opened his arms and I found myself in it in a flash.
This is what I have been craving for all day.
"We will talk tomorrow. I am really tired now." He said and I couldn't help but smile.
"Have a great night, Michael." I told him and tapped his back. He then left for his room.
"What are your plans concerning your wedding?" Emily asked me and I didn't bother to answer her.
"Well, I think I need to leave you both to plan. Goodnight." Emily said and left the table with her plate, which was still full.
"How was your day?" Louise said after a long moment of silence.
"It was good, thank you." I responded and pretended to choke, so I grabbed a glass of water and used the opportunity to leave the table.
I walked into my room and I noticed that things were not the same anymore. The first thing my eyes caught was Louise's picture frame hanging on the wall.
Miriam's picture on the table has also been replaced, and I just started laughing at the situation.
"What the hell makes this lady think she has gotten this level of access into my life?" I asked myself amid the laughter.
While still scanning the whole room to discover more changes, I heard a knock on the door and before I could respond, Louise walked in.
"What are all these about?" I asked her while laughing because I found it really amusing.
"I am trying to get as close as I can so that I would not find it difficult to fit in as your Luna." She responded while turning her body seductively.
"Leave my room." I ordered and for the first time, she didn't let me repeat myself.
I laid on my bed and had a very sound sleep. All that I have wanted all day has been accomplished.
