Chapter 44

MIRIAM'S POV
Ivy and I walked back to the living room to watch a television program. Suddenly, the door flung open and Trish walked in with almost four bags in her hand.
"Why didn't you go get help? I mean I can't explain why you should stress yourself with all this load." I said as soon as I saw her struggle inside the living room with the bugs in our hand.
"Where did you even go and who gave you all of these?"I asked her without even letting her answer the first question I just asked.
"Take it easy Miriam, you don't have to overwork yourself over nothing." Ivy said to me as she helped Trish pack the bags.
The funny thing the both of them did was that they put all the bags close to where I was sitting. I wondered why they did that.
It was as if Cherry knew that Trish was back; she also walked down and joined us in the living room.
"Welcome Trish, how was your shopping?"Cherry asked her as soon as she walked into the living room.
She also joins Trish and Ivy in unpacking the bags. These three ladies kept on bringing out one dress after another and they kept throwing all the dresses at me as though I had sent them to go shopping.
"All these are for you at least you will stop wearing those things in your closet that you call clothes."
Ivy announced and I kept staring at the clothes like they were some trash.
"Please don't give me that look. I don't think I need it." I said.
"Quietly go and change into one of these and see how you would look." Cherry stated and threw one particular gown on my body.
I picked up that particular one and walked upstairs three of them packed the remaining clothes that were on the couch and came after me when we went to my room. I changed into the one that Cherry had suggested while the other three ladies started arranging the new clothes in my closet.
"So you both knew where Trish had been all along and I have been looking for her." I said to Ivy and cherry but both of them did not respond. They pretended to be seriously arranging my closet.
"We just decided to make sure that next time you step out of this compound you don't look homeless." Cherry said as she left Trish and Ivy who were still arranging the clothes and came to sit by my side.
"Can't you see how beautiful you look?" She said and I kept touching every part of my new dress.
And to be honest I was actually looking very good. It's been a long time since I looked like this and I loved every bit of it.
Cherry asked us to excuse her for a while and she walked out of the room.
"Thank you so much Ivy, thank you Trish I really do appreciate this." I said to the ladies who were still in my room as I stood in front of the dressing mirror admiring myself in my new attire.
Unlike the other clothings I have, this one fitted perfectly. One beautiful thing about it is that you did not even reveal my pregnancy and that was the only thing I loved about it unlike the other clothes I had which just cling on to my body that anyone that sees maybe we'll know that I was pregnant.
I'm sure that will be freer on you. Ivy stated as she walked to where I was standing and adjusted my hair. While she was still at it,Cherry walked back into the room with a box in her hand and I was really curious to know what was inside the box so I rushed down to meet her as soon as I saw her walking inside the room.
"Come on, calm down, it's yours, I'm going to give it to you, don't be in a hurry." She said I made sure I went back to sit on the bed.
Then she climbed the bed and kneels down on it behind me.
"Could you please give me that box?"I said to her while she was still kneeling at my back
"I'm not giving it to you. I'm going to open it myself. You will only get to see what is inside of it when I am done opening it," she said and I tried as much as I could to remain calm.
I turned back to look at what she was doing and as soon as the box was open I saw a beautiful necklace lying in the box with matching earrings and a bracelet.
"These are so beautiful,"I gushed over them and she smiled at me.
"I am going to help you wear them," she stated as she picked out the necklace out of the box and put it on my neck.
Then she removes the earrings I had on so that she can put on these new ones while she was helping me where the earrings Trish helps to put the bracelet on my wrist.
I thanked them for being so thoughtful and caring and they assured me that he got my back through it.
You look so beautiful I feel like taking a picture of you already. Ivy started with her phone already in my face taking too many pictures at the same time.
By the time they were done with me I demanded to see Daniel so that I could have a conversation with him and they led me to the living room. They treated me like a queen and I felt so cherished.
Daniel came down and he also started gushing over my beauty.
"Who did this to you? Those Were the first words that came out of his mouth as soon as he set eyes on me and I started laughing at his expression.
"You are damn beautiful Miriam no one should ever make you feel less." He stated as he held me close and kissed my forehead.
"Thank you so much darling" I said as I held him as tight as I could.
Cherry and Ivy stood by chuckling and I laughed at their expression.
We need to talk Daniel and it's very important. I said to him with so much urgency and at last he was ready to listen to me.
"Should we go to the conference room?" He asked me and I said no.
"Let's just sit in my office until then," he suggested but I really did not want to discuss this with anyone else but himself.
"What about we go out somewhere I don't know just somewhere." I said and he heaved a sigh.
"Do you have anywhere in mind?"he asked me as he tucked my hair behind my ears.
"I honestly do not have anywhere in mind right now but I am sure we will definitely find a place if we go out,'' I said to him and he agreed.
"Let me go get my car keys. I will join you soon."He said I should let go of my hands and run to the staircase.
"I hope there is nothing wrong?" Cherry asked as I tried to sit down.
"There is absolutely nothing wrong Cherry, trust me I just need to have a conversation with my beta.
Alright if you say so but if anything comes up don't fail to call us. I spread my arms begging them to come for a hug Cherry and Ivyl ran into my arms immediately only Trish held back and I wondered why she did.
"Come on, join us. You should know by now that you are already a part of us. Ivy said to Trish immediately Trish joined the embrace.
"Thank you so much for loving me. I really do appreciate this coming from all of you and I promise to reciprocate your kindness,'' I said to them while all of them were still in my arms.
"Should I also join this big hug Daniel t stores as soon as he walked into the living room and found us hugging ourselves.
Everyone busted out with laughter immediately and then Daniel helped me to stand up and led me to the door.
When we got outside the whole place was calm and quiet, even the servants that usually roamed around the compound were nowhere to be found. Then we decided that instead of going outside we would have the discussion in the garden or at the poolside.
The pool side is preferable Daniel stated as he started working fast to the pool.
I also worked after him but not as fast as he did. I was counting my steps as I moved and before long I met him at the pool.
"Would you love to swim?" he asked me as soon as I got there.
Thank you. I don't think I would want to swim. I declined his offer but he rushed to undress and jumped inside the pool.
All I did was sit down at the edge of a pool and put my leg inside the water after swimming for a while. I never came to the place where I was sitting and asked me what the problem was.
"There is nothing serious actually I only wanted to ask you to intimate me on the progress of things with respect to the pack. I found that a whole lot has been going on and you're the only one with useful information that could help me at this point in time."
I said to him as he tried to use his hand to dry the water dripping from his head to his face.
"That's not a problem, Miriam. I will do my best to make sure that you are acquainted with everything going on."
"How about the other day at the council of elders meeting, why did you leave the room as soon as I walked in?" I asked him but he stayed for a while without saying anything instead he was laughing sarcastically.
"I knew you were going to ask me about this. I was actually waiting for you to do so so that I can tell you why." He responded and I told him to come sit beside me so that he can properly talk to me.
He entered the pool again and buried himself inside the pool again, swam to the end and came back to me.
"I had an argument with the council of elders. The council of elders are actually the ones in the best position to give you first-hand information on everything that has been going on in the back.
Besides as soon as you walked in and was very confident so I decided to leave and how you handle the matter."
"I really did not hear much because I stood outside the door and the door was shut but from the little I heard, it seems that you properly faced the council of elders and they will have no other option but to submit to you." Daniel said and that did a whole lot to my ego.
They actually gave me a few weeks to prove myself. I told him and he smiled.
"That's not a problem, Miriam. I am sure you will do your best and by the time you are done they will know the stuff that you are made of." Daniel said to me and I have never been more proud.
"Stop patronising me Daniel,'' I said to him a bit to counter what he had just said but he did not give it up. He still repeated the same statement and kept reminding me of how brilliant, courageous and strong I was.
"Thank you very much Daniel. I really do appreciate everything you do for me." I thanked him and he moved back into the pool as soon as he left. I remembered there was something the council of elders said they wanted to test me with. Although none of them agreed to tell me what it is they all insisted I got the answer from my beta.
I called out to him but he couldn't hear me as he was underneath the water. When he swam up I waved my hands and instead of coming close to me he waved back at me.
I stepped out of the water and was walking around the pool strategizing in my head how best I am going to administer the pack.
I was also thinking of when would be a perfect time to go and see Ivy's father.
Then I decided I was going to do that as soon as I gave birth. I really did not want him to see me like this although I didn't know why I had that feeling or why I made a decision.
Daniel finally got tired of swimming and so he came out of the pool and wiped his body with the towel I had dropped on one of the seats for him.
"The council of elders said you were going to tell me the matter on the ground . Could you please tell me what it is all about?" I asked Daniel but he was busy cleaning water from his body and his latest if you did not hear me.
When he was done wiping his body and had even changed into his clothes I asked him again and he insisted he would answer me later but not now.
"This is one thing I don't like and you know it," I said to Daniel but he kissed my hair and dragged me along.
When we got inside, Cherry and Ivy were surprised that we did not go out after all.
We told them that we had to discuss it at the poolside instead of stressing ourselves out.
"You should learn to keep to your words Miriam." Ivy stated and it sounded like a warning..
"I promise ma'am." I responded to her and she picked up her bag and announced that she was leaving.
"I will miss you baby." I said to her as I pulled her in for a hug.
"Please take care of yourself and our heir." Ivy said as she walked out of the building.
"Don't forget to go get your antenatal appointment tomorrow." Ivy turned back to remind me and closed the door behind here at once.
"I might not be able to go to the hospital with you tomorrow." Cherry prepared my mind early enough and I was pleased that she did.
"So tell me about what you will be doing tomorrow." I questioned her and she said she would go to run some errands for her boss.
"So what will you be doing after the errands you should run for your boss?
"Nothing serious, I think I would just have to rest." She responded and I smiled at her.
"Please take care of yourself and the baby. And I want you to know that I am very proud of you." She said and blew me a kiss.
"So are you also leaving today?" I asked Cherry who was already dressing her hair.
"I should leave in the evening. I need to have a conversation with Daniel before leaving." She replied.
"It's alright, I would just go take a walk around the compound." I told her and she expressed surprise.
"You should go in and rest." She said and it sounded like a command because I obeyed without objecting.
