Chapter 65

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
As she walked out of the door, I walked behind her. When she got to the car, she stood beside it waiting for me to come open the door for her.
As a gentleman that I am, I didn't hesitate to do that. I even held her hand, helping her climb the car because it was quite high.
Then I turned around to the other side and entered. I did not drive. I had to let my driver do the driving. Louise and I saw behind while the driver was the only one in the front.
He asked me where we were going and even at that moment, I hadn't figured it out yet.
"Just start the journey first. You will get to know about it in due time." I responded and he started the engine and pulled the car out of the garage.
The gateman opened the gate promptly as soon as he saw us and we were out on the road in no time. Although we had no destination at the moment.
Then I started scrolling through my phone hoping I could get a beautiful place that we could just visit and relax but I couldn't make a choice from the ones I saw because I have not experienced almost all of them.
The driver kept driving as though he had instructions as to where to go while I was here, busy bugging my brain with where we would go.
We drove for a while and suddenly the driver pulled in front of what looked like a hotel and parked.
I almost asked him what was going on because I did not ask him to stop. I have not even made a choice either.
After parking properly in the parking lot, he stepped out of the car and walked into the building.
"What is going on?" Louise asked me after the driver had been away for a while.
"Just exercise a little patience. Everything will be sorted out soon." I tried to calm her down while texting the driver to know his position.
I sent him several messages but he did not respond to any.
Minutes later, he walked back to the car and handed me a slip.
"That's your reservation." He said as he handed me the slip.
I looked at it and it wasn't just a reservation from a five star hotel but one of the best.
I smiled sheepishly as I looked at the little piece of paper in my hand.
With that confidence, I stepped out of the car and turned around to open the car for Louise.
After that I led her into the hotel while the driver opted to stay in the car.
"You don't have to stay here all alone. You should just get a drink or something." I suggested it to him and he followed us inside.
He walked a bit ahead of us so he opened the door for us before the security could even do that.
"Thank you." I said as we walked past him.
Louise and I were given a warm reception as we entered. We were then led to the receptionist who handed over the keys to the executive lounge that the driver had reserved for us already. After getting the keys, we were also led to the room. As I opened the door and we walked in, I was also amazed at the beauty of the room.
It was heavenly. I will not be wrong to say that it is something out of this world.
"Wow!" Louise exclaimed as she walked around the whole place inspecting it.
As much as I tried to hide my feelings so that she wouldn't suspect that I had no idea about the beauty of this place, the smile on my face almost let me out.
"Thank you so much." She said holding my face in her hand and thereafter, planted a kiss on my lips. She resumed her tour around the room.
"Tell me we are spending the night here." She said and I just didn't know what to say to her. I had no idea of how long the reservation that the driver had made was supposed to last because I had not properly read through the slip he gave me.
In order to answer her questions, I stylishly peeped into the slip that was in my hand and found that it was just for a few hours.
"We will do this some other time, I promise. Today is supposed to be a date that is not expected to last more than a few hours." I tried to explain the situation to her but this lady of mine would not budge.
"So what you are saying is that we are going to be here for only a few seconds." She said in a tune that sounded as though she was lamenting.
"But we are going to have the best of time." I assured her as I led her to the balcony where we already had dinner prepared for us.
I pulled out the seat for her and helped her sit properly before taking my own seat.
The table was well constituted with all kinds of meals that anyone could think of. It was so much that we found it difficult to make a choice.
We finally started eating and also got into a conversation. We talked about the few feats we have been able to accomplish together and the ones we had in prospect.
We also talked about our forthcoming marriage and how life might treat us thereafter.
She also tried as much as she could to dissuade me from killing Miriam when I eventually found her.
"So tell me, is this where you usually spend time with Miriam?" She asked me whilst giving me a seductive glance.
I was annoyed by her question but I tried to suppress the feeling because it might turn out to be something else and I was not ready to ruin this moment.
"Can you please stop talking about Miriam whenever we are together? I am sure we are having a good time and we should concentrate only on ourselves and no one else." I said to her expressing disgust at what she just said.
"Come on, I didn't mean to offend you, I was just curious. You know you and Miriam were very close and you spent a lot of alone time with her back then when you were not yet alpha." She tried to raise a defence but that didn't exonerate her from the fact that she almost ruined my mood.
"I'm sorry. I promise never to talk about her again." She told me to keep her face like a baby and it really looked funny.
"That's alright. Just learn to keep your mind at a place." I told her and she smiled as she continued eating her food.
"I love you, Chris." She told me and for a while I froze. I was not just surprised to hear that from her, I was something I never thought of hearing from her.
I thought what we were doing was purely business and nothing more. I don't know if I even have such feelings for her or if I would get to develop it.
With the way I looked at her, she also started looking at me in an unusual manner.
I wanted to say I love you back but the words were not just coming.
"It's okay if you don't feel the same way. I don't know how that came out." She said and I felt bad for making her blame herself for my lame attitude and response.
"You don't have to feel that way. I was just not expecting it and that was why I could not give a quick response.
"It's okay." She replied and I managed to smile.
The atmosphere was no longer as beautiful as it was moments ago. I have successfully ruined everything and I hated myself for it.
She was no longer as active as she was all along and it was clear that the date was all over.
"I think we are done here." She said as she stood up on her feet. I tried to persuade her to sit back and make her understand that what happened was not intended but she refused to even listen to me.
She stood up, picked up her purse and entered the room, leaving me on the balcony.
I sat down for a while thinking of how best to remedy the situation but I just couldn't think of any possible solution.
The thought of making arrangements for us to spend the night here came to my mind but I discarded it because I felt that it would be a futile effort since I have already spoiled everything.
However, I still decided to call the driver and ask if he could make such arrangements.
At the first ring, he picked up the phone and we started talking.
"I hope there is no problem, Sir?" He asked as soon as he heard my voice.
"No problem at all. I just want to ask if you can extend the time we would spend here." I responded with a very low voice just to make sure that Louise doesn't hear me.
"How long do you want to spend?" He asked.
"We will just spend this night." I answered and took a sip of the smoothie I had in my hand.
"Okay, sir. Just give me a moment." He said and dropped the call. I stood up from my seat and paced around the balcony for a while. As I looked down, I saw that a pool party was going on. I just admired the beauty of the place as it was properly lit before I heard my phone ring. I had to hurry to get it because I had left it on the table.
I looked at the screen and it was the driver.
"It is done sir." He announced and I felt some kind of relief. I must settle this with Louise tonight.
"You can also make some provision for yourself for the night." I told him before hanging up without waiting for a response from him.
With that confidence, I walked into the room and saw her standing at a corner looking at the portrait on the wall. She was so engrossed that she didn't notice when I walked in.
What I did was to walk quietly to her and hug her from behind.
"Hey babe." I whispered into her ears while wrapping my hand around her waist.
She twisted her body in such a manner that suggested that she wasn't interested in whatever I was doing but I held on to her and kissed her neck.
"Can we leave already?" She asked nonchalantly and I did my best not to be offended.
"We are spending the night here, so we are going nowhere until tomorrow." I announced as I pressed my face against her neck.
"What do you mean?" She asked as she was obviously surprised.
"I extended our reservation. So can we go back to our food?" I said while still holding her.
"What are we doing, Chris? I know you don't like me that much but at least we can pretend we love each other so that this can work." She said and heaved a sigh.
I guess the thing she was talking about is our proposed marriage.
"I love you, Louise." I said and kissed her.
And unlike what I expected, she pulled out. I spent ample time begging her.
When she finally accepted, I had to carry her in my arms to the balcony so we could continue with the food.
When we got there, it turned out that she had lost her appetite. Mine was nowhere either. She then stood up. I thought she was going to walk out again but she did not.
She rather walked to me and sat on my lap. As soon as she was properly seated, she started kissing me and I couldn't help but return the energy.
Thereafter, we moved into the room and the bed was more than welcoming and convenient.
For the first time in several months, I had great sex. I slept off like a baby using Louise's chest as a pillow.
