Chapter 64
CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I opened the door and reluctantly let Louise in. She was beginning to ask me if I wasn't the one who asked her to meet me in my room. Then I told her that I had given her a time frame within which to meet me. Adding that I thought I could rest my head a little before she comes in.
"I will have to leave then. Call me when you are ready to see me." She stated and turned to leave but I could not let her go. Not after the effort she had put in to come here.
Besides, I have noticed some changes in Louise's character lately. She has grown from being that arrogant and annoying human she is known to be who cannot live a day without causing a disaster.
"You don't have to leave. I was just saying that you came too early." I pulled her hand and dragged her into the room.
"It's actually fine. I can come back whenever you are ready." She insisted but I didn't let go of her.
I made sure she stayed back and when she finally agreed to stay, she sat in the bed and refused to say a word to me.
"Are you just going to sit there and say nothing?" I asked her, expressing surprise. I never thought she would behave that way.
"I just thought to give you some time to rest your head." She replied as she turned her face towards the wall.
"I'm ready to listen to you. And I am sorry for making this difficult for you." I apologised and she let out a little smile.
"Could you please tell me what it is?" I told her but she still remained quiet. A few minutes later, she tried to open her mouth to say something but she probably could not find the right words.
"Chris, I can't believe that we ... I mean." She started and I interrupted her.
"Calm down Louise. Take a deep breath, you can also take your time to think and put the words together." I told her and she stood up and walked around for a while.
I watched her as she paced around staring at nowhere in particular.
When she was done, she came back to the bed and sat down beside me.
"I can't believe that you want to kill another person. What has Miriam done to you? The best you should do is get her to sign the divorce papers and we move on." She said in one breath and I could clearly hear her heartbeat. It was as though her heart was going to pop out of her chest.
Seeing she was in so much panic, I pulled her close and held her tightly just to calm her down.
"I know and I perfectly understand all that you are saying. I just decided to take that decision just so that we can facilitate the process." I tried to explain to her but she still insisted that we don't kill Miriam.
"It's alright. If you say so, I will consider it. But for now, how about we go out for dinner?" I suggested and she gave me a fake smile.
"Come on babe, give me a smile and not this thing you have on your face." I teased her.
"I'm not smiling. She chuckled and I tickled her and she bursted out with laughter.
"Alright dear, go get dressed. Let's go have some fun." I said as I pushed her gently out of the room.
As I closed the door behind me, I rested on the door and took a deep breath. A lot ran through my mind at that moment but I decided to concentrate on what I would wear on this dinner date I just fixed with Louise.
I have no idea what she is going to put on and as such I could not make a decision as to what to wear. I just walked to my closet and started scattering it without having anything in mind.
Then I decided to settle for the only suit I had.
I am not a fan of suits. I had more jeans and shirts.
I brought out the cloth from its case and kept staring at it and it looked like something I have not seen before.
I was also beginning to feel uneasy about the proposed dates I have just planned with Louise but I had to brush off the feeling and started preparing towards it.
I rushed into the bathroom to have a quick shower and in less than ten minutes I was done.
I already put on the clothes I had dropped on the bed while I rushed into the bathroom.
Then after I moved to the dressing table, stood in front of it to comb my hair and also properly adjust my suit.
Then I went to look for a matching shoe but none of the ones I found appealed to me.
However, I had to settle for one of the white sneakers as I could not find a black shoe that could fit my dress.
When I was done, I walked out of the bedroom with my phone in my hand. As I closed the doors behind me, I then remembered that I was not putting on my wrist watch. So I had to go back inside to get it.
I saw it on the stool beside the bed where I had dropped it when I rushed off to have my bath. I grabbed it in a hurry and turned back to leave. It was as though I was already late for an appointment and I needed to catch up with it. There was this urgency that I felt.
On my way it was as though something stopped me as soon as my eyes caught Miriam's picture again.
"I will see you when I get back." I said to the picture as I walked towards the door, opened it, and moved out of the room immediately.
When I got downstairs, I saw Louise sitting down in the bar so I had to walk up to her and ask her why she was not prepared. She was still wearing the same dress she had on when I asked her to go prepare for this date.
"Why aren't you prepared yet?" I asked her soon as I got there as I grabbed the glass of wine in her hand and started drinking from it.
"I never thought it was something serious besides I have been waiting here for you to come down." she responded as she climbed down from the stool she was sitting on.
"Please go get ready, I'll be waiting for you." I told her as I moved to the living room to sit down.
As soon as I took my seat she walked past me then ran up the stairs.
I spent close to thirty minutes waiting for her to come back.
Within this time that I was waiting for her I had already finished five glasses and was going for the sixth one when she walked down the stairs with Emily walking behind her.
I paused for a while to admire her beauty and I was really amazed at how she looked.
She wore a pretty little black dress.
The dress looked small but it was her perfect size.
It clung to her body and revealed her beautiful laps and cleavage.
It was accompanied with a beautiful pair of heels and her face was beautifully adorned with a light make up.
I dropped the glass in my hand as soon as I saw her and walked towards her.
As I came closer, she gave me a beautiful smile and stretched out her left hand for me to take it.
I took her hand and led her down the stairs like a queen that she is. Emily could not help but blush and I could not control my smiles either.
When she got down the stairs, I kissed her hand and Emily asked me if I was going to propose.
"What other proposal are you talking about?" I asked in shock because I felt that there was no need for those formalities again since we have already agreed to get married and plans were already on ground.
"We are going on a dinner date." Louise responded, saving me the stress of speaking to Emily.
"That's alright, I will just be in here waiting for you both." Emily stated as she sat on the same couch I was seated on and picked up the television remote.
"Where are you taking me?" Louise asked me as we got to the door. I simply opened the door for her and asked her to move out but she insisted on knowing where I was taking her.
Personally, I didn't even know where we were going but I had to pretend that I did.
I planned on making arrangements for a cool place while we are on our way.
"Can you take this as a surprise?" I asked her with a wide smile.
"I will just trust you." She responded and walked out of the door.
