Chapter 24

Living with my fate.
MIRIAM'S POV
I woke up still feeling dizzy and having a light headache. I tried to call someone, but I could not hear my own voice. I raised my hands and tried to stretch, and then the servant that offered to be my personal maid greeted me.
'Good morning, ma'am." She greeted me as I stretched on the bed.
'Good morning. How long have you been here?" I asked the already smiling and bubbling lady standing next to my bed.
'For quite a while. I came in to check on you again this morning, so I decided not to leave again." She said with so much joy. I began to wonder where this joy she was feeling was coming from since I was not even getting it either.
'Tell me, how do you stay happy?" I asked her as she helped me sit up on the bed.
'I just smile and decide to stay happy." She answered.
I took a few seconds to internalize what she had just said. I thought of how someone would just decide to stay happy and actually do it when there are a million and one things to get you pissed.
We heard a knock on the door at that moment.
'Please help me get the door." I instructed her.
Before she could walk to the door, it flung open and Cherry walked in. Seeing Cherry was all I needed at the moment, and I was glad she stopped by.
I screamed out as soon as I set my eyes on her and she screamed as well and jumped on the bed to give me a huge hug. We stayed in each other's arms for a while.
I looked at my new maid standing at the side of the bed and this lady was seriously smiling. I couldn't help but smile too because her smile was way too contagious.
Cherry pulled me out of her arms, looked at my face, and pulled me in again. She did that repeatedly, and I was beginning to get tired of it, but I could not complain.
'Welcome home Cherry. Why did it take you so long to return?" I asked her amid the excitement.
'It was only a few days." She responded in the calmest and comforting tune I have ever heard. Her voice was so heartwarming and I couldn't help but gush.
We were so elated to see each other . Daniel got me a personal maid. ' I announced pointing at my new maid.
Cherry turned around and smiled at my maid.
'It's a pleasure to meet you." Cherry told her and as usual, this maid of mine started smiling
'You will never get enough of her smiles, trust me." I told Cherry who was also good at smiling. I don't know if they both learnt the art of smiling.
'What did you come with? I asked Cherry who was already cleaning my nails. She is good at taking care of me, I thought to myself as I sat back to enjoy the feeling of her tending to my nails.
I felt so special as I laid my head on the pillow just as Cherry instructed while the both ladies attended to me.
We were having a beautiful conversation in the midst of everything and it was really fun.
'Has Daniel told you anything about the council of elders?" Cherry asked me and I let out a sigh.
'I guess they have been on your nerves lately?" She asked me and I sighed again without speaking. We all stayed quiet for a while and I really enjoyed the silence. But I thought of Cherry and my maid and that was not the kind of environment they would thrive in.
So I decided not to be selfish. I mean, if you want to get the best of these two ladies, engage them in a conversation.
'They have not been here for some time now and I am more than grateful for that." I said breaking the silence which had lingered for so long and was beginning to wear these ladies of mine out.
'Who has not been here lately?" Cherry asked as she couldn't get the gist.
'The council of elders. None of them have been here for a while now." I responded and she gave me a concerned look.
'I believe in you and I am sure you can do it." She added.
'I sure will." I assured her and we both smiled.
'You should go get her something to eat if you are done with what you are doing." Cherry told the maid.
'I will go do that soon." The maid responded and they both continued what they were doing.
After a while, the maid stood up and walked to the door. I guess she was going to get the food as Cherry told her to do.
'Please come back." I called her back and she came back immediately.
'Sorry, what is your name? I don't know what to call you." I told her and the shock on Cherry's face was something I would choose not to talk about.
'My name is Trisha." She announced with a bow that looks like one of those done by Disney princesses.
'What if I call you Trish?" I asked her with a low voice and twisted lips.
'That sounds nice." She said happily as she moved out of the room.
'She is just so happy. I also felt happiness before." I told Cherry who did nothing but stare at me.
'Cherry, Cherry. Did I say or do something wrong? Please tell me and I will apologize." I said as I shook her hand that had dropped from my body to the bed.
'It's nothing you have done Miriam. I'm just thinking about those times when I used to be as happy as Trish is but all those times are gone now and I don't think I will ever get it again.
Those words from her pierced through my heart and I wished I could do something to make her feel better.
'How can I come in?" I asked her and she was not saying anything. I looked straight into her eyes and I saw tears forming in them. I hate to see her like this. She is one person that makes me so happy and I can't stand seeing her in this mood.
I held her in my arms and I felt her tears as they ran down my back. By the time she pulled out, she was no longer crying and I was happy about that.
'Your arms are so comforting, thank you. She said with her shaking voice and I smiled at her.
I had to wipe the tears off her face and she looked as beautiful as she has always looked.
'It's all going to be fine. And we will walk out of all of this together." I assured her and she started laughing so I joined her.
Shortly after that, Trish came in with the food. She had made food for Cherry and I. I was glad she was that smart to know that Cherry will need some.
'Thank you, Trish." We chorused together and Trish started blushing.
'Wow!!" Cherry exclaimed as she opened the plate.
Trish had made us toast bread with scrambled eggs and tomatoes and a cup of tea each. The eggs were so beautiful and attractive. I am sure that is what made Cherry exclaim that way.
We sat on the bed and enjoyed the meal talking about silly things that we shouldn't be talking about and I was just so happy having her around.
We finished eating and Trish took the plates out even without being told. I was impressed and I was glad she was there when Daniel made the suggestion of me getting a personal maid.
'I will make lunch and dinner for you." Cherry announced and I smiled at her.
'Well, dinner will be fine. I have not been doing lunch for a while now." I told her.
'No way. You can't stay without food; I am not letting that happen." She retorted and I had to give in. Thereafter, I went to my room and slept off without taking my bath.
I woke up to find the room empty with no one with me.
'Why is no one here?" I asked and before I could say anything else, my wolf answered me.
'We are three of us here." She responded and I was shocked at her response.
'Three? How?" I asked her but she did not respond.
I began to ponder on what she had just said when I remembered I was about to take my bath before I slept off.
