Chapter 49

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
As I opened the door and stepped into the living room, I saw Louise and Emily as the window. They both jumped off and blocked Micheal, preventing him from entering the house.
I noticed that he didn't argue with them, he rather turned back and began to leave.
"Come back here Micheal and get what you came for." I ordered Micheal and he turned back but they still wouldn't let him come in.
Especially Emily, she was hell bent on him leaving immediately and refused to listen to my plea.
I became angry at her behaviour so I stood up from where I was seated and walked towards her with the aim of pulling her out of the door but before I could get to her, she moved out of the door as soon as she saw me coming.
I heaved a sigh and walked back to my seat while Micheal came inside and fetched his car keys from the table where it was lying.
"My Lord, I don't like how you are handling this matter. Micheal is supposed to be charged for treason and here you are granting him pardon even without the consent of the council of elders." She began to lecture me on the way things are supposed to be done and I was astonished.
What marvelled me the most was the fact that she called me 'my Lord'. I was also beginning to think that she has an interest in this whole thing. After all, she never liked Micheal one bit.
"It seems you have an interest in this issue." I confronted her and she became mute at that moment.
"I can see that clearly now, I will embark on an investigation and I am sure I will trace the origin of this matter." I stated and Micheal who was still standing beside the table even after picking up his keys turned to look at me.
I saw frustration in his eyes and I began to wonder what might become of him as soon as he walked out of this door. I became so concerned about his welfare so much that I thought of giving him a second chance but he has lost favour with everyone and might not be accepted again even if I accept him.
"Like I said, you can't help me make decisions." I reminded her and she took her hands off me immediately.
"Thank you so much Christopher." Michael said and proceeded to the door.
I watched him until he walked out of the door and closed it quietly behind him.
Emily, who was still mad at me that I did not deal with Micheal as I was supposed to, walked out of the living room, probably to her room but god knows I didn't care.
"What time is the meeting with the council of elders scheduled?" I asked Louise because she was the one who had scheduled the meeting for today.
"It's almost time. I am sure that the council of elders should be on their way by now. That's if they are not here already." She responded as she looked away from me.
"Thank you." I replied and she started walking out of the living room. Not towards the staircase, but to the exit door.
I wanted to ask her where she was going but I decided otherwise.
All of a sudden, she opened the door again and came inside the living room.
What came to my mind was that the council of elders were here already but it turned out that I was wrong.
She stood at the door without saying anything and gave me a suspicious gaze.
Then she opened her mouth as though to say something but later closed it and walked into the living room.
"Tell me what it is, Louise." I asked her thinking she would ask me to get her something and I will use that as an opportunity as an avenue to pacify her anger.
She walked towards me and sat beside me on the couch. Then she wrapped her hands around my shoulder and kissed me.
I also held her by the waist and kissed her back.
When we were done, she used her thumb to wipe the lipstick that stained my lips as a result of kissing her.
"I know you have a request so please go ahead and make it known." I beckoned on her and she started smiling.
"I want to attend the council of elders meeting, I hope you don't mind." She told me as she started caressing me.
"I am sure you know that the conference meeting is an exclusive meeting between the alpha and the council of elders and no other person would be allowed in there.
"But your beta is always allowed into the meeting." She retorted and I began to see clearly what she was doing.
"My beta is usually allowed in the meeting only on permission. And I am sure that you know all of that." I replied as I stood up from the seat and walked away from her.
"Since it is now obvious that you no longer have a beta. May I humbly apply to be your beta?" She said and I was already getting pissed with her incessant disturbance.
"You are going to be my Luna. Our wedding is coming up soon and that's it." I said to her yet she kept insisting on acting in the capacity of a beta to me.
"I would advise you don't bite more than you can chew." I cautioned her and she angrily walked out on me.
While I stood there, I heard my phone ring so I moved to fetch it. On my way, I slipped and fell. It took quite a while before I was able to get back on my feet.
The phone continued ringing so I still went ahead to get it.
I picked the call but there was no response from the other end. Thus I dropped it and concentrated on massaging the spot I had hit on the floor.
