Chapter 38

MIRIAM'S POV
"Stop swinging my arm, it feels like it is going to fall off," I screamed with a low voice and Ivy laughed at my expressions.
We walked almost through all the streets around us and we were already getting tired. Or should I just say I was exhausted because Ivy was still dragging me along and I could no longer carry my legs again?
I just tried as much as I could to still follow her since I was the one who dragged her out of the house. She was so energetic and I wished I was just as free as she was.
"You look tired already." She gave me a concerned look and I was just too weak to even respond to her immediately.
"How did you know I am tired?" I asked pretending to be enjoying the whole thing. And I was enjoying it. The only boring thing about it was that the place was still the same. Nothing exciting about the environment I left some time ago. I wished I could see something new and fascinating but nothing of such nature could be found.
"You stopped responding to my chats. You were only nodding your head like a lizard." She bantered me and I smacked her butt.
"I am exhausted, there is no life left. Please let's go back home." I told her and she pulled my hand and asked me to stop.
"Turn around, let's get going." She said and turned me from behind to face the direction we were coming from.
"Do you mean we are walking down?" I asked her because I did not think I could move my legs any further.
"Yes, why?" She stated coldly and I was amazed at her nonchalant behavior towards my health and well-being.
"Trust me, this is not going to harm you." She assured me as she encouraged me to keep walking but I was tired and it felt like I was going to drop dead the next second.
"We have to get a cab. I don't think I can move any further." I told her as I let go of her hand and sat in the sand.
Passerbys kept moping at us and it was becoming annoying.
"You have to get me out here, this place is nothing but annoying. Why can't they just keep moving forward and not turn back to steal another glance from us? I lamented and covered my face with my hand.
"They are just surprised to see a pregnant lady sitting in the sand. I am going to leave you here if you don't stand up." Ivy threatened.
"Please tell Daniel to come pick me up from here. I will be waiting." I teased her and she started laughing immediately.
"Are you seriously going to stay there?" She asked and I nodded affirmatively.
She then walked back to meet with me and also sat down beside me in the same sand she was scolding me for sitting in.
"We should visit the beach sometime you know?" She suggested it, and I took it as a brilliant idea.
"How did you even think of that?" I interrogated her and she pulled me into her arms.
She then pulled out her phone from her pocket and started pressing it.
"You are becoming addicted to this device." I told her but she ignored me.
"Uber will be here soon." She announced and yes that sounded like the best thing that has happened to me. So I pulled her cheeks closer and gave her a kiss.
She chuckled and held me tightly. As we sat there waiting for our ride, I saw someone that looked like a member of the blood moon pack.
Immediately I saw him, I hid my face in Ivy's arms so as not to let him see me. Ivy was surprised as she noticed the way I hid myself and she was so sensitive that she covered my face with her hand properly until the man passed.
"Why did you do that?" She asked as she pushed my face away gentilly..
"That man is from the blood moon pack. I wanted to make sure he didn't see me." I said as I laid back on her.
"I didn't see the man you are talking about but I am sure he didn't see you because I didn't see anyone looking in our direction." She answered and I was glad to hear that he did not see me.
"You think he would tell Chris of your whereabouts if he saw you?" Ivy asked me and I really did not get a reply from her.
"Well, I am not sure of what could happen but I am sure that they are very much loyal to their alpha." I answered here and she gave me a concerned look and patted my back.
After sitting there for another three more minutes a good looking car parked beside us and honked. Ivy opened her phone and dialed the number that was on the uber app. It rang and the guy in the car picked the phone, then we were assured that it was the one we were waiting for.
She pulled me up and led me to the car. We both sat behind while the driver was in front alone.
"Please bring down the volume of the radio. I'm having a headache and I can't bear it,'' I told the driver and he immediately switched it off.
In less than no time we were already at home. The ride was very swift and I must say I enjoyed myself this morning or afternoon.
Ivy paid him while I walked inside the compound. The gate man who I had spanked before going out opened the door for me and he couldn't look at my face. I wanted to apologize just as Ivy had said but I decided not to because he is the one who owes me an apology for being disrespectful and rebellious.
But on second thought I decided to go back and apologize to him. I told him I was very sorry about my reaction and that's just because of the way he treated me and that was why I did what I did.
Well he understood perfectly well and didn't join issues with me.
He promised never to do what he did again and vowed to remain loyal to my administration.
After all was said and done I pulled him into an embrace and Ivy met us there and clapped for us or should I say clapped for me because I was the one who took this bold step of reconciliation.
Thereafter, we walked inside together and she held my hands. Then I pulled out and asked her to hold my waist instead. She started laughing at me, reminding me of how dependent I was now on almost everybody. I told her it was going to be over in no time because I'm definitely not going to carry this child in my womb forever nor am I going to make the mistake of carrying another.
So as we got inside I saw Cherry and Daniel sitting in the living room. The first thing that came to my mind was to ask Daniel why he gave such an instruction, but then I remembered that he was not alright when I left the house. So I decided to give him a break and maybe ask him what was wrong with him later before going on to ask him why he did what he did.
"Hey Daniel," I greeted him as I walked into the living room and he stood up and hugged me.
"I love the boldness you exhibited out there,, your courage is everything. I love you my alpha." Daniel said to me and that was the most pleasant thing I have heard in a very long time. Tears streamed down my face and I held him closer.
I thanked him for believing so much in me, and also for holding onto my position and making sure that nothing went wrong during the period I was away.
Ivy and Cherry just sat back there looking at us while we exchanged reassuring words and assured each other of how much we are willing to support ourselves.
"Alright Daniel so now tell me what happened that made you so moody earlier that you couldn't even speak to us."
Instead of saying anything Daniel smiled at me and even pulled me closer. The only thing that tried to separate us was my big stomach but we still held until ourselves.
"You two should please sit down we're watching a program and you are obstructing our view." Cherry said and I started laughing at her
"Just say you are jealous Cherry, there is no program going on." Ivy said.
I and Daniel I pulled out of each other's arms and looked at them. Cherry's cheeks are already turning red. I could see jealousy written all over her face.
"I am not taking him away from you dear I promise." I assured her and she gave me a fake smile.
Daniel helped me sit on one of the couches then he moved over to Cherry and carried her in his arms. They both went upstairs leaving Ivy and I in the living room.
"If you had a mate you wouldn't be here with me." Ivy teased me and I also blasted her for not also having a mate.
Come to think of it, Ivy has never had a mate.
"Is it that you are allergic to men or what? I said to her and she gave me an angry look. Well I wasn't bothered about the way she reacted. I was only bothered that this friend of mine has never thought it wise to be committed to someone, not even for once in her life.
She pretended not to hear what I was saying and then walked straight to the television to switch the channel to a music channel.
Ivy is a lover of music and she dances so well too.
"Hey girl I hope you're not offended." I asked her just to be sure that what I had said did not hurt her feelings that much.
"I really don't want that drama that happened between you and Chris to play out in my life, nor do I want anything close to a heartbreak. I think I'm fine just the way I am.
Ivy responded and I could feel the hardness and the toughness of her heart. She has actually decided never to have anything to do with a man. Well I know it's her choice but then I wasn't really comfortable with it. She's my friend and I feel so concerned and responsible for her.
"Do you think you will be happy with the decision that you have made?" I asked her, thinking that will make her have a rethink and then give me another response. But her mind was made up and she was to strictly follow what she had decided to do.
"We are no longer talking about this, Miriam. I've told you time without number that I am not interested in anything that has to do with a man. If you would get any other man that's fine I'll support you but I'm not doing this."
She responded and I had to give up on the arguments when I remembered that you never win Ivy in an argument.
"That's fine I just hope you will be good,'' I asked her as I came close to where she was standing.
She turned back and gave me a reassuring smile and I hugged her.
"You should go into your room and rest now. I mean you have been on the road all day and I'm sure you must be tired." Ivy said and actually I was really tired but before I would want to sleep I would need a massage.
"Can you help me massage my feet?" I asked her with a tiny voice that sounded like that of a five-year-old.
She chuckled and asked me to move upstairs.
"Thank you, I'll be waiting for you,'' I said as I dashed out of the living room and headed to my room.
As soon as I got to my room I saw a plate of fruit well prepared. It was also cold.
I wondered who must have kept it there so I had to come downstairs again to confirm.
"What are you doing here? I thought I asked you to wait for me in your room so I can come massage your feet?" Ivy said as soon as she set eyes on me walking down the stairs. She was already on her way up.
"I saw a plate of fruit in my room. I don't know who must have dropped it there so I couldn't just pounce on it. I decided to come confirm first." I said to her just to calm her down because it seemed like she was upset I had to stress myself coming down again.
"You didn't have to walk down to ask who dropped it,you would have just waited for me. Please stop stressing yourself unnecessarily." She scolded me.
"I won't do that again ma'am." I told her and turned back to my room while she went downstairs to confirm who kept the plate of fruit in my.
I got to the room and laid down on the bed, as I closed my eyes, I saw myself sitting on that sand and I started smiling
"It wasn't a bad day after all." I said to myself as I sat up and stared at the plate of fruit that was so inviting.
I think I have been able to discipline myself so much this time I mean I couldn't believe that I entered this room and I did not touch the plate.
"That's a plus." I stated.
Just as I was looking at the fruits and applauding myself for not touching it, Ivy walked into the room and slammed the door.
"Why did you do that?" I asked her and she acted like she didn't know what happened. I just wasn't ready for that drama so I had to let it slide.
"You can eat the fruit, Trisha dropped it."
She said as she entered the room and carried the plate to me on the bed and I thanked her and began to eat while she stared at me as I ate.
"You can join me, you know?" I said to her and she only smiled then she walked to the table to get the massaging cream and she began to massage my feet.
"Were you given an antenatal date?"
She asked me as she massaged my swollen feet.
"I'm not sure that I took any date." I responded and she continued doing the massage although the smile disappeared from her face.
"You would have to visit the hospital again soon. You need to get an antenatal appointment so that you can visit the hospital regularly to check yourself and the baby." She advised and I gave her a stern look.
"I know this is all about the baby and not even about me." I attacked her as soon as she said that.
"Why are you being so selfish, Miriam? This is not just about the baby, this is also about your health being at risk if you don't do this." She said angrily and I could feel the anger in her voice.
When she noticed that I was a bit withdrawn because of her outburst, she apologized and held me closely. Little tears dropped out of my eyes and again I was grateful for the people around me.
