Chapter 77
CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I had a few cups of coffee even though I wasn't a fan of coffee. It was the only thing I could don't to keep myself company while waiting for the arrival of the lady who never ceased to be my Luna even after walking out of my life.
I waited and waited and there was just no sign that she would walk in here anytime soon.
"Hello sir." A voice woke me up. I could not believe that I had already dozed off.
Damn it. What if she had walked in while I was sleeping and left already. I opened my eyes and looked at the man standing in front of me.
"Please, you can leave now. We have closed for the day." He stated and walked away without even listening to what I wanted to say. I had no other option but to leave the shop. I was angry already and I kept kicking and hitting anything I saw on the way as I headed to my car.
I even started hitting the car when I reached it and laid on it.
"This place is not very safe for now. Everyone is scared the rebels might attack anytime." Yet another voice came and I raised my head but I saw no one. I opened my car immediately and jumped into it.
"There was no way I could go back to the blood moon pack by this time." I said to myself as I looked at my watch and saw that it was past midnight.
I needed to hang around until dawn. Then I will go straight to the alpha's mansion tomorrow. I pray she will be around this time.
As I drove along the streets of the silver moon pack, I never met a single soul on the road. This is a place that is usually very busy. Then it occurred to me why the alpha is not stable. The situation must have been giving her sleepless nights and she must have been out to find a way around it.
The interesting thing here is that bringing down the rebels is the same reason I am here. I need her help as I cannot afford to let all that I have worked for over the years go down the drain just in a flash.
Everything will be gone as soon as the rebels attack and defeat the alpha of the silver moon pack.
"I need to do something about this right now." I screamed as I hit the steering wheel.
I kept searching for a place I could stay for the night but I found none. While I was still searching, I got a call from Micheal and I was glad he called because I had already planned to call him.
"Hello Michael," I started talking without even getting a response from him.
"Micheal, are you there?" I asked as he was not responding and this was unlike him. Well, I dropped the call and also dropped the phone on the passenger seat.
I kept looking out for a hotel so I could lodge for the night until I found one only to be disappointed when I went in as I was told that they were fully booked.
I walked out frustrated as a bitter bile rose to my throat and I found it hard to swallow or spit it out.
I sat in my car within the hotel premises and refused to leave.
As a matter of fact, I had a fight with the security guy who insisted that I should go. It was the intervention of the hotel manager and other staff that saved him. I also tried my best to suppress my wolf so that I wouldn't kill someone . As it may affect my chances of getting the help and support I need.
When everything was settled, we agreed that I would spend the night inside my car on the premises and with that, I entered the car and rested my head on the steering wheel. Seconds later, my phone began to ring. I ignored it because I was not properly calm and I may vent all the anger on the person calling.
It took me a couple of minutes before I was able to catch my breath. And another reasonable time before my breath normalised.
Thus, I picked up my phone and opened it. I looked at the screen and what filled it was several missed calls.
I was a bit sceptical about calling back because I didn't know which one to start from so I kept the phone and increased the volume of the radio. As the music started playing from the radio, the atmosphere in the car changed and soon I was beginning to nod to the beat of the music.
My angry spirit was beginning to lighten up and felt much better. Indeed good music heals the soul. While I was enjoying the music, a call came into my phone but I was too concentrated to be distracted. I continued moving with the rhythm that was coming from the radio.
When that particular song stopped playing, I picked up the phone and opened it. I was in a better mood to talk to anyone right now.
"I think I should do this more often." I said to myself as I opened the phone and realised it was Micheal that had been calling all along.
I clicked on his name and started calling. When he picked, he started with scolding me for not taking his call. I felt insulted and I shouted back at him but my anger only lasted for a moment as I was still elated because of the song I finished listening to and the one that was also playing at the moment. Although I lowered the volume of the radio just so I could hear him properly.
"Micheal, I need you to do something for me very early tomorrow." I stated after we both became calm.
"Spill it." He responded and I tried to arrange everything in my head for a while. He kept calling my name to be sure I was on the line and I assured him I was with him but I needed to process some things.
"Can you give me a moment? I will call you back." I said in one breath and hung up the phone. First, I took a deep breath as I tried to think of what to say to the omega alpha so that she would be moved to help me take down the rebels.
I will start by telling her that I have a fully equipped army that is ready to align with hers in this fight.
"This cloud is a good start." I thought to myself as I continued to think of other things that might impress her.
But before then, I picked up my phone and called Micheal.
"I want you to organise our army, you may leave out the police. Mr James is the leader of the rebel group. He must have indoctrinated most of the members of the police." I started and he promised to get it tomorrow.
"Were you able to see Miriam?" He asked and I told him that she did not show up at the coffee shop. Besides, which reasonable person visits a coffee shop by that time of the night? I murmured to myself in such a low tune that I was sure Micheal didn't hear me.
"You should go there very early tomorrow. It was in the morning I saw her." He said and we took a long pause before saying goodbye and getting off the phone. I increased the volume of my music once again and continued vibing to the music until I slept off.
What woke me up was a knock on my window. As I pulled down the glass, a muscled man stood before me. He looked like someone who has been carrying weight all his life.
"How can I help you?" I asked him as I struggled to open my eyes, whilst yawning at the same time.
"I need you to repark. I need to get out and you are blocking me." He complained and I apologised and turned on the engine and moved to another parking space so he could leave. After he left, I took over his parking space . At least, no one will tell me to move anywhere else.
I raised my hand to stretch and the stench I got from my body was unbearable.
"There is just no way you can leave this place like this." I told myself as though I was referring to someone standing in front of me.
With that I opened the car trunk and grabbed a shirt and headed to the hotel building.
"I am sure some people have checked out this morning." I said to the receptionist and she speedily handed me a key. I brought out my credit card and paid for it. When I was done, I looked closely at the keys to grasp the description on it, then I headed towards the stairs.
I took off the clothes I was wearing as soon as I got into the room and abandoned them on the floor as I rushed into the bathroom to have my bath.
I came out of the bathroom after a long bath and dressed up in the new shirt I got from my trunk. I deliberately left the dirty in the hotel room as I headed out.
As soon as I opened the door, there was a waitress, standing in front of my door with a tray in her hand.
She greeted me and walked past me inside the room with a tray in her hand.
"Who is that for?" I asked her because to the best of my knowledge, I did not place any order and j was already on my way out.
"It's for you Sir." She stated as she dropped the tray on the table in the room and was on her way out already.
"I'm checking out already, so I won't be needing all of that." I politely told her and she moved to the tray and carried it.
"I will just take it back then." She stated as she moved out of the room with the tray in her hands and I closed the door and walked behind her.
The receptionist was surprised to see me down. When I told her I was checking out. She became agitated and asked if I didn't like their services.
I had to take the pain of explaining to her that I needed to be in a meeting and it was urgent.
I hurried away as soon as I was done with her and walked straight to my car.
As I looked at my wrist watch, I realised I was running late. Micheal had told me he saw her walk into the coffee shop before seven a.m. and it was almost time.
I sped out of the hotel as soon as the gate was opened for me and turned back to where I came from last night, the coffee shop.
I got into the shop and ordered a mug of coffee and I was served almost instantly.
I sat at a position that was directly opposite the door so I was able to see everyone that walked in and out of the shop.
I did not even concentrate on the coffee I was drinking. All my attention was on the door and it was so obvious that the security noticed it and called me to order. I tried explaining to him that I was expecting someone and I did not want to miss her but he insisted I either call the person or leave. My actions were suspicious and I could be arrested for that.
I humbly apologised and walked out of the shop since I didn't have anything better to do there. I decided to wait for her in the car. I spent almost the whole day sitting in the car concentrating on the entrance to the coffee shop but nothing that looked like Miriam came anywhere close to the shop.
I became tired of waiting so I had to leave. I made my way to see the alpha of the silver moon pack. I didn't want to lose out entirely today.
On my way there, I saw heavy traffic. This is something that is unusual because the roads are smooth.
As I sat in my car thinking of what to do, I saw a passer by so I stopped him to ask what was going on.
He told me that there was a protest and so the road was closed.
"Is there any hope of getting through this today?" I asked him and he said it depends on how soon the alpha comes out to address the crowd. The main crowd was at her gate and as it stands now, her position as alpha is threatened because of the unrest.
I pitied her immediately. I wondered what she must be doing to hold up because this is a very difficult situation.
Knowing that the protest will not be over anytime soon, I parked my car in the available space that I saw, grabbed my phone and came out of the car. I decided I was going to walk down to the alpha's house since I can't get there with my car. I also hoped she would be disposed to see me because this crowd is overwhelming.
When I walked past about three poles, I got to the crowd, from there, I was able to see the alpha's mansion but it was still very far from where I stood. The only way I can get her to see me is to be close to the house so that I can get her attention once she is done, so I started finding my way through the crowd.
It was really difficult getting through the crowd that was as thick as a virgin forest. I had to do a lot of pushing until I got to a spot that was convenient for me. So I stood there waiting for the arrival of the omega alpha.
It took a very long time before someone came out of the gate to address the crowd. It was the alpha's bet.
He mounted the stage that was created for the purpose of the gathering and assured the people that everything would be fixed in no time. Adding that the alpha is working tirelessly to make sure that things come back to normal pretty soon.
After his speech, there was an uproar from the crowd who seemed to be uncomfortable with the things that the beta had said.
After he was able to calm the crowd down, he asked them what they wanted and they said they wanted the alpha to address them by herself. He told the crowd that the alpha would not be able to come out to address them because she was not strong. They began to shout and rain abuses on him.
With that the beta told them to hold on that he will be back.
The chattering and chit chat continued among the wailing crowd who were only after their interest and safety.
The beta took a very long time before he came out again and told them that the alpha will be here soon.
We all waited and waited for the alpha's appearance but she didn't come out. Suddenly a very beautiful and charismatic woman walked out and there was absolute quiet.
She stood beside the alpha's beta and whispered something into his ears and climbed down the stage.
Seeing that, the crowd began to yell again but the beta was not bothered. He stayed so calm and held his two hands behind him.
Not too long after that, the long awaited alpha was ready to come out as there was an announcement to that effect. Everywhere became so calm that you could hear the wind as it passed by.
Two women climbed the stage. The first was the one that came in earlier. The second was someone I never expected to see. Not on the podium.
I removed the sun shade I was wearing and cleaned my eyes as I could not believe what I was seeing.
I looked over and over and convinced myself that she was not the one but it was Miriam.
She stood for a while and cleared her throat before she started speaking.
She spoke for a long time and by the time she was done, everyone including me was satisfied with what she just said. She thanked them and walked out, back into her mansion.
This is the most beautiful presentation I have heard in a long time. I was amazed. I could not believe that was my Miriam. For a moment I was proud of her although I felt bad that she did not tell me that she is the most powerful alpha we all respect.
I stood by and waited for the crowd to abate before informing the gateman that I wanted to see her.
But when everything was clear, they told me that I could not see her because she had a hectic day already. I had to go back to my pack and prepare to come back to see Miriam tomorrow.
It was a long walk back to the place where I parked my car. I was in so much disbelief concerning what I just saw. I entered the car and started driving back home.
I spent a long time on the road because I could not drive fast. I was just too weak for that but I managed myself and got home, although very late.
As soon as I got home, I was welcomed by my family who seemed so glad to see me as they claimed to have been worried about me.
I thanked them for their concern although I never expressed so much gratitude.
I could barely even open my mouth to talk to them.
I walked inside and headed straight to my room.
