Chapter 22
But my prayers did not cross the clouds as Emily and Michael walked in immediately.
Michael remained quiet and walked towards the gate. It was Emily that started teasing me.
"I knew you both would get along. Don't worry, soon enough it will feel so perfect." She said and followed Michael.
My heart boiled immediately. I had let my guard down and I should be ready to get banters from Emily and Michael soon.
I turned to face Louise and I saw she had tears in her eyes.
I tried to ignore it as I ignored Miriam's tears that night she left but I could not.
Before I knew what was going on, I found her in my arms and after a while, I took her inside the mansion.
"Do you need me to get you something? Just anything." I asked her as I helped her sit.
"I'm fine. I don't think I need anything." She responded as she used the back of her palm to wipe tears from her face.
Her eyes were already swollen and her cheeks red, I pulled her closer and held her tightly.
While she was in my arms, she continued sobbing silently. I tried my best to ignore it and just hold her until she started crying out loud.
"I apologise to you. I shouldn't talk to you like that." I said to her but she continued crying.
She still did not stop so I left her in the living room and went up to my room.
I had locked the door behind me so no one would be able to access me until I am ready to come out.
After a while, I came down and she was still sitting down there crying. I just walked past her.
" You shouldn't treat her like this." Michael said as he walked in and then to her side.
"So sorry about whatever happened. Please let it go." He admonished her and the next minute.
"You need to learn how to treat a woman better. It's a good skill for you at this time." He responded with a grin.
" I thought you never liked Louise?" I asked him because I was surprised and also suspicious of the new development.
"Sometimes friends turn to strangers and the reverse happens too." He stated and lifted a finger.
"Take this." Emily stretched out her hand and handed a box of chocolates to Louise.
"Thank you, Emily." Louise responded and she took the box and started opening it.
We dropped Mr James at the hospital and left without wasting a minute.
Back at home, there was Louise and her friend having a conversation when I walked into the living room.
I walked out without saying a word to them but both ladies knew how to awaken the lion in me. Thus I hit them.
I left them there and headed back to my room to rest so I could take them to the hospital the next day.
As I opened my bedroom door, my whole being left my body because of the sight I saw.
