Chapter 67
MIRIAM'S POV
I sat down on the couch and held my head with my left hand.
Everyone surrounded me and I was really worried that I was making them freak out.
"You all should calm down. We will get through this." I said to them in a calm and soothing voice. Everyone left except Daniel who sat beside and pulled me close. He patted my back as I laid on him.
Suddenly there was a very loud noise coming from outside and it was as though there was a struggle over something.
I wanted to stand up to check what it was but Daniel held me back.
"Don't worry, whatever it is will be sorted out." He assured me.
He wanted to say something else but before he could open his mouth, the door was forcefully opened and a group of masked men walked into the sitting room.
I raised my head immediately and the ones that came behind them pushed my gateman to the ground. I looked at his face as he laid on the floor and discovered that he was already bleeding. My heart began to race as I thought of what they must have done to the other servants.
"Who the hell are you?" I screamed and they all started laughing sarcastically.
This made me really angry and I could feel the heat I was already emitting.
"Why don't you just sit down and allow us to introduce ourselves and also tell you of our mission?" One of them stated authoritatively and I was amazed at his guts.
There were five of them standing before me. I walked past them and peeped through the window just to be sure of how many men had invaded us.
As I looked out, I saw two of them standing outside. I then began to strategize in my head how best to deal with them.
I wasn't sure who they were or what they were doing here but one thing I was sure of is that none of them would leave this place alive.
I started walking towards them and they were so brave to also walk towards me. If only they knew who they were standing before, I am sure they would be trembling by now. I looked at Daniel and signalled him that I was about to attack them and the look on his face tells that he was as prepared as I was for the battle.
Without wasting time, I reached for the neck of the one standing before me and strangled him. My claws that were already out pierced through his neck and when I was sure he was dead, I let go of him and he fell on the floor.
Then slowly I walked towards the next in line. That one was so stupid to have brought out a dagger and pointed it at me.
I laughed as I saw it and he threw it at me immediately but I dodged it and it hit the wall behind me and fell to the ground.
Then I grabbed him in my hand and turned his neck backwards. Thereafter, I moved to the last one who stood by the door.
He attempted to run but I stretched out my hand and my claws grabbed him and pulled him inside.
Daniel already had the other two tied up and then he walked to the other end to get the dagger the other idiot had thrown at me.
The one I was holding started pleading with me but I didn't listen to such pleas the moment my hands started squeezing blood.
Daniel stabbed the other two and I heard Cherry scream as soon as he did that.
I became distracted so I turned to her.
"Get out of here this minute." I commanded her with so much authority and she took herself out immediately. As I turned back to face the one I was holding, I realised that had a stool in his hand and should have hit me with it but for Daniel's intervention. That made Daniel sustain some injury and I tore him apart as soon as I could.
Daniel and I headed them in the living room and sat quietly waiting for the other two to come in. I looked at Daniel and saw that he was badly injured so I called Ivy to come do something about the bleeding but he refused and asked her not to bother.
"You can go back." I said to Ivy as I tried to catch my breath.
"Don't you need help?" She asked politely and I wondered if she had forgotten what her friend was capable of in such a hurry.
"Don't worry Ivy, Daniel and I will handle this." Make sure Cherry is alright." I told her and she walked back upstairs.
"I think they are the rebels. This is supposed to be a warning of their arrival." Trish, who just handed me a glass of water said as she took a seat beside me.
I felt the presence of the other two coming close and so I stood up and walked towards the door.
"They should not see you." I told Trish and she ran out immediately.
I stood behind the door and Daniel laid on the couch he was sitting on pretending to be dead.
The door flung open immediately and they walked past me without noticing my presence behind the door.
They reached for their team mates who were already getting cold and they both let out a scream.
I cocked the gun I had picked from one of them and they both turned to face me as they heard the sound of the gun.
I shot the one standing on the right while Daniel held the one on the left who was closer to him.
With one hand, he loosed the other two that he had tied up and used the rope to tie the one he was holding.
I walked out of the door and came to where they stood.
"What should we do with him, alpha?" Daniel asked me as he dropped him on the floor.
I turned to look at the gateman who had squeezed himself at a corner and watched everything that was going on quietly.
"Are there any of them left outside?" I asked him and he nodded, stating that they were all here.
"I think he is the one who will tell us who they are and who sent them." I told Daniel as I walked around the idiot lying on the floor.
"We were sent by the rebels. They would be attacking you soon. The plan is to take over all the packs and make them all subject to one authority." He spat out without letting me ask him.
"Thank you for saving me the stress of forcing you to talk." I said as I kicked his head.
"How bad is your injury?" I asked the gateman and he struggled to stand up on his feet.
"I am fine. It's just a few bruises." He responded.
"Can you work with it?" I inquired further because I needed hands to get these dead bodies out of my living room.
"So tell me, what is your mission today?" I asked my captive, because that is what he is now and he took a while without saying a word. Daniel was pushed to slap him and after a loud scream, he started talking.
"We were supposed to inform you of our arrival today before moving to other packs from tomorrow. " He responded and I thought of what would have become of Christopher by tomorrow if they had left here alive.
"Apart from that, is there any other thing I need to know?" I asked him as I raised him up and helped him sit down.
"What is still keeping them is that they have not agreed on a leader. That appointment should be done as soon as the notice of their arrival is given to all the packs.
"Why do you keep saying they and their? Aren't you part of them?" Daniel questioned him and I had to take off his mask.
He did not look like one of the rebels. Later on, after receiving some good beating from Daniel, he told us that he was cajoled into it.
"Now, you would have to choose between me and the rebels." I placed a condition on his life and without thinking much, he decided to work with us.
"Do you think this is the best thing to do?" Daniel asked me because he was in disbelief as to what had just happened.
"Don't worry Daniel, everything will be sorted out. Search him and rid him of every arms." I roared and Daniel began to do as I said.
"Go get the other servants, or are they dead?" I said to the gateman and he stood up immediately and ran outside. I staggered to the bar and grabbed a drink.
I opened it and started drinking from the bottle.
Daniel picked a few pocket knives and a gun from our captive and went over to the dinning and kept them on the dining table.
"What is the time?" I asked Ivy who just walked into the living room and sat down.
"It's about twelve minutes past eleven am." She stated and I was surprised that it was still morning.
"It is still morning!" I exclaimed and rushed up the stairs with the bottle under my armpit and the gun in my hand.
"I need something to eat." I screamed as I ran up and Ivy responded with a loud okay.
I got into my room and locked the door. After doing that, I sat on my bed and finished the drink in my hand before rushing into the bathroom to wash off all the blood stains I had on my body.
I was surprised when I saw Cherry sitting in the bathtub when I entered the bathroom.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her and she stood up immediately and ran inside the room. I peeped from the bathroom and saw her battling with the door. I had locked it and took the keys with me. I could not even remember where I dropped the keys after locking it.
The shower was quick and in a few minutes, I was in the bedroom with a towel wrapped around me.
"Don't be scared Cherry, I am here to protect you." I told her as I walked to the closest and randomly picked out a pair of jeans and a singlet. She didn't say a word to me in response. She just kept staring at me.
Within seconds I had it on and we started looking for the keys.
"Where in particular did you drop it?" Cherry asked me that several times but I just couldn't not remember. Then she reached for the clothes I just took off and found it in one of the pockets.
Having found the keys, I stood up and walked to the door waiting for her to come open the door but she did not.
"I have to go check what is going on down there." I said pointing at the door.
"It was the guy from the coffee shop right?" She asked and I remembered I had a conversation with Michael.
"No, that was Micheal, Christopher's beta. The guys we just dealt with are from the rebels and we must treat them the way we did." I explained to her just to make sure that she doesn't panic anymore.
"Can I stay here?" She asked me, sounding like a baby.
"It's already safe down there. In fact, Ivy is there already. But, if you are still scared, you can stay here." I told her and she threw the keys at me. I caught them, opened the door and dashed out of the room.
I heard her say something but I was in so much hurry that I could not even turn back to hear her properly.
My food was already on the table as I got to the dining area. Daniel's wounds were already being treated by Ivy and Trish was helping Ivy with little errands.
I saw all the other servants standing in the living room and Daniel informed me that they were all her to see me. The gateman stood beside them too. I walked to the living room and looked at them.
"I will instruct you on what to do when I finish eating." I said and walked back to the dinning to eat.
I tried to rush my food but I couldn't so I had to gently eat it. Besides, we still have much time to do whatever it is we wanted to do today.
After eating, I asked if they had all had something to eat and their response was positive.
"I need a truck. How can we get one?" I threw a question at every one of them.
"They came with a truck," the gateman responded speedily and I began to stamp my feet.
"Where is it parked?" Daniel asked the gateman.
"Outside the gate." He instantly said and I was pleased at the way he was giving us answers.
"We need to move them into the truck. But we need to get the truck into the building." I stated as I reached for another bottle of wine.
"You have consumed too much alcohol today already." Daniel warned me but I didn't listen to him. He then walked towards me to get the bottle. I ran away from him and he chased me. For a while we ran around the house and everyone was laughing.
The atmosphere that was tense became a bit calm as everyone was now laughing and relaxed.
When we finished the rat race we were doing, I gave up the drink and instead of taking it back to the bar, he started drinking it.
"Go get the truck in." I instructed the driver who demanded the keys.
"I am sure you would know what to do if there are no keys." Daniel yelled at him and I just sat there staring at all of them.
"I have the keys." My captive stated and the driver slipped his hand into the breast pocket of the jacket he was wearing and took the keys out.
Thereafter, he walked out with the gateman and in a few minutes they got the truck inside the building.
They both came in to give me the report and I told them to start carrying the bodies into the truck and they started doing so at my command.
"Where are you supposed to meet your Masters?" Daniel asked the only surviving member of the rebels that had come to attack us.
"We are to converge at the forest dividing the silver moon pack and the blood moon pack." He stated.
"That's a long drive from here." Daniel chipped in with a smirk on his face.
"When are they supposed to meet you?" I asked him so I can be sure of the plans to make.
"Tomorrow, before we move to other packs." He responded and I smiled.
"Clean up this place." I stated as the cleaners who were already waiting for them to finish carrying the bodies started cleaning.
"We leave by nine pm." I said as I walked to the stairs.
"What do we do with him?" Daniel asked me pointing at the man we tied up.
"Anything you please, but don't kill him." I ran up the stairs with a feeling of fulfilment.
