Chapter 80

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
While I was still sleeping, I felt a hand on my body but I was so deep in sleep that I didn't bother to wake up. Besides, I was having a very interesting dream. It's been a while since I dreamed and most of the ones I usually had were really scary.
Today, I saw myself with my first love Miriam. Maybe it was because she had been on my mind all day. Whatever it is, I am glad I was on good terms with her. I mean, we had a fight the last day I saw her and she is probably the last person that will want to see me. But she graced me with her presence and love today. Tell me why I should wake up, leaving such beauty.
When I woke up, there was Louise sitting beside me, she stinks of alcohol and when tried to talk to her, she was beginning to act stupidly so I called some servants who came into my room and carried her to her room.
Emily walked in after they left with her and stood by the door for a while.
I had to ask her why she was standing there but she said nothing. Instead she walked inside the room and sat in the bed beside me. I moved out of the bed and walked out of the room into the bathroom, when I came back, she was still there.
"Are you now ready to tell me why you are here?" I asked without even looking at her face this time.
"I wanted to know why Louise slept in your room last night. You said you would not touch her until you both are married." She said and j remembered that I have already had sex with Louise. It seems Louise never told Emily about it so there was no need to tell her either.
"She didn't sleep here." I stated and went back into the bathroom before she could say anything else. By the time I got out, she was already out. I dressed up and headed downstairs. I need to be in the silver moon pack this morning.
I first of all rushed down the stairs to eat something and luckily before I got down, the table was already set. I rushed the food like I was late for an appointment even when I was not so sure of seeing Miriam today.
Then I began to think of what to do concerning our divorce. If I don't get the divorce as I am supposed to, I might get it hot from Louise over here. Miriam on the other hand will blatantly say no to coming back to me even if I wanted her to come back. The fact that she might deny me a divorce because of the way she left just to punish me also crossed my mind although I tried to brush it off.
I am sure that at the moment she is aware of the fact that she is both the alpha of the silver moon pack and Luna of the blood moon pack. Pride may get the best of her and she may not want to readily grant me the divorce. At this thought, I became extremely weak and I was beginning to contemplate not going to see her anymore.
I lost my appetite at that moment and left the food almost untouched.
I headed to my office to check the plans that movies and I had drawn out the other night. The only thing on my mind right now was to see what I can do without reaching out to Miriam because I am sure she would not even give a damn.
The plan looked nice and all but then fear gripped me because I did not know how I would be able to accomplish this mission.
Just then, Micheal walked into the office and stood quietly beside the door. Ordinarily, I would have spoken to him and even asked for his opinion but I didn't. After standing for a while, he sat in the available seat and kept staring at me.
"What are you up to?" He spoke up after a moment of silence. I really didn't want to say a word to him or anyone but I just had to.
"Nothing serious, just reviewing our plans." I stated and I saw a level of disappointment in his eyes. I wondered why he was disappointed but I would rather not ask him.
"And your trip to the silver moon pack?" He asked and I was about to announce to him that it has become mission impossible because I have changed my mind about it. But then, a thought struck my heart. Miriam is not as bad as I think she would be, even if I know she is not much of an easy going person.
"I should be on my way soon. I just needed to look at this plan first, she might ask me what I have to offer." I explained to him and he smirked. I was not concerned about him so I didn't react to his expression. After wasting a good part of the morning doing nothing, I decided it was time to get going. So I stood up from the chair it was seated on like I had been yanked out of it by an external force. Micheal, who was still seated there, stood up almost immediately and we walked out together. Although he allowed me to go out first.
"Seems you are ready to leave." Micheal stated as we walked through the hallway leading to the exit door instead of going through the living room.
"Yes, I need to get there on time." I responded and as I opened the door, there was Emily standing at the veranda.
I walked past her and headed to the car and did not say a word to her. As I turned around to tell Michael to handle the meeting with the council of elders for me, I bumped into her..
"You need to be more careful Chris." She sounded so arrogant and I was in awe of her new behaviour. I thought this dirty attitude of hers was limited to Micheal. I did my best to ignore her and turned to Michael.
"Please handle the conference meeting for me, they will be here soon. " I informed him and as I turned to face my car, there was Emily sitting in my car.
I had to go straight to her and ask her what exactly she was doing there. But she began to exhibit this bitchy attitude that I didn't know where she got it from.
"I don't know what you are doing and I really do not care about it. Kindly get down from that car so I can go out." I shouted at her but yet again she ignored me.
We got into a heated argument and when I was tired of the banter and she refused to leave the car, I dragged her out of it and she fell on the floor.
Micheal rushed to her and carried her up. She slapped him after she was able to stand on her feet and I just chuckled as I ignited the engine and was about to move out of the house.
As I left the gate, I met the elders outside. They were already here for the meeting.
"My beta will attend the meeting on my behalf." I said to them through the car window. One of them stepped down from the car and stood beside mine.
"And why is that?" He asked as he stood beside my car and took a quick glance into the car.
"I have an important meeting to attend to and I am already late." I responded and was about to drive out but another of them stood in front of the car so I could not move.
"What do you all wanted me to do?" I angrily roared at them as I came down from the car.
"We need to discuss something important." Adams said with a deep voice and in a tune that suggested that something was wrong.
I had no other choice but to go inside with them. As I got in, I saw Emily sitting down right on the floor in the living room. I gave her a stern look and walked away. I blamed her for everything that just happened right now because the elders would not have met me here if she had not delayed me.
We walked into the conference room and sat down. Everyone looked angry, and as much as I was not happy myself, I was curious to know what was on their minds.
"We have not come to banter words with you or to ask for your opinion on this matter anymore, we are here to issue an instruction to you." Adams started and I just kept staring at him like all he was saying was a joke.
I know the council of elders were powerful, but the kind of power they had was not enough to veto the decisions of the alpha. As long as this pack is concerned, I have the final say.
"What do you mean by you are here to issue an instruction on that alpha. I know you don't have such power." Michael looked angry at the statement Adams just made as he got up to face him.
"You dare not speak to me like that." Adams retorted and I sat back and watched the both of them throw shades at each other. I was quiet because I needed to process a few things and this was an opportunity since none of their attention was on me.
When I was done, I called their attention back to me and they stopped the nonsense they were doing. Another elder stood up to speak but I stopped him as I wanted to establish a fact.
"Just as Micheal said, no one has the capacity to make orders that are not approved by me. I am the only one who can say a thing and it becomes law as long as this pack is concerned." I began and the elders began to chatter and murmur amongst themselves.
"So have it at the back of your mind that whatever you have to say is nothing but a suggestion and cannot bind me." I said and Adams cut in immediately.
"No!" He screamed at the top of his voice and I just laughed within me because I am sure there is nothing they will say that will make me abandon my plans if after examining it, I find out that it doesn't align with my own plans.
"Before get more aggressive and agitated than this, please say what you have to say because things might get worse and you might not have the opportunity." I warned them as I was losing my patience and anything could just happen.
"We have met with the leader of the rebel group and we have reached an agreement with him." One of the elders said and I began to laugh at him sarcastically. They all looked surprised to see me laughing and they began to chatter again.
"What do you mean by you have reached an agreement with the rebels? Have they promised not to attack us?" I asked as I stopped laughing although I still found what they said funny.
"Who even reaches an agreement with a criminal?" Michael chipped in and I supported his statement with a nod.
"Like he said," Adams began pointing at the elders who just announced that an agreement had been reached with the rebel group. Everyone's attention was fixed on him as we waited to hear the next statement that would come out of his mouth, especially the so-called agreement.
"After our discussion yesterday, the leader of the rebels assured us that we would be exempted from the attack if we join forces with them in the battle." Adams said and I began to laugh again because I know for a fact that Mr James is very power thirsty. He would not just want to be in charge of the packs as the alpha of the silver moon pack is, he would want total control.
"This is a very serious issue and you can't be joking about it." One of the elders said and I smiled.
"What makes you think Adams will keep to his part of the bargain?" I asked them and they were quiet for a while.
" You don't have to worry about that, he assured us that he will not attack us so let us believe that he won't. All we have to do is to work with him like he demanded." One if the elders answered on behalf of the others who all sat down looking like a disaster about to happen.
"We cannot work on speculations. What we have before us is a mere promise and I am certain that Mr James will not keep to this particular promise. I know for a fact that the plan is to take over control of the entire packs under the silver moon pack, thereby establishing a central authority. " I tried to explain to them the implication of what this particular decision might be.
"I don't see any reason to be apprehensive or to doubt the willingness of Mr James to work for us. It all depends on us keeping our own part of the bargain." One of the elders tried to counter what I had just said.
"You don't understand do you? I know Mr James too well that man is deadly. He may look very calm and all but he has a very dark heart and does not mind destroying us all." Once again I emphasised the statement I had just made. But these people have been clearly brainwashed and they could not see what I was seeing.
"So now, if we get protection from the rebels what happens to the silver moon pack and other packs that would not be ready to compromise?" I threw this question at the elders since they were having a stiff neck. None of them responded but after a while one of them who had not said anything since they came in stood up to his feet. I thought he would say something reasonable but he only corroborated the fact that they were all stupid.
"That's none of our business, everyone has the duty to protect themselves and we must do what we have to do to protect ourselves." He spat the rubbish out of his mouth and I couldn't help but wonder what Mr James had done to them.
"Have any of you ever sat down to think about how the other packs would look at us if they defeat the rebels and they find out that we sabotaged and compromised our stand." Michael stated and I expected the foolish elders to give a response but they remained quiet instead they insisted that we must work with the rebels to defeat the alpha of the silver moon pack.
As much as I was not happy that Miriam is the Omega alpha whose praises have been sung all around the packs there is no way I am going to fight against her.
Let me just do this one honour as my wife even if we are no longer on good terms. It is the best I can do to make up for the pain I cost her, especially the day she left.
"I don't care what you think or what you have planned to do, you must work with the rebels and that's final." Adams spoke up as he stood to his feet and made his way towards the door.
"And let me also remind you that only my words are final here and there is nothing any of you can do about it." I roared as I stood up to my feet. My words caught Adams on his way and literally froze him because he stood at the spot he had gotten to as I even walked up to him and walked past him out of the conference room.
Michael rushed after me and asked me if I was already on my way to the silver moon pack just as we had discussed last night and I told him yes. He offered to go with me but I declined. I know a whole lot will go down between Miriam and I today and I didn't want anyone that knew the both of us to witness it .
I touched my pocket in search of my phone as I wanted to make a call but it was not there. I thought I had left it in the car so I hurried outside the gate where I parked it.
It wasn't there. I tried to think of where I must have left it but nothing came to my mind so I rushed inside and went straight to my room in search of it. I am sure I have not touched that phone today. As soon as I opened my room door, there was the phone screaming on the bed. I rushed to it and I found that it was Mr James who was calling. I allowed it to ring down without picking the call as I was in no mood to talk to him. If he was a sensible person he would know that I am clearly not interested in whatever offer he has for me no matter how attractive it is.
I am even beginning to feel that he needs me so that he can defeat the alpha of the silver moon pack, he clearly cannot stand her alone. His desperation to get me in his group tells it all. And I am sure that he will trash me as soon as he achieves his aim. And guess what, I am going to do all I can to bring him down to his knees.
With that I slid the phone into my pocket and I headed down stairs. I met Daniel speaking to the elders as I got outside. I just ignored them, got into my car and zoomed off.
