Chapter 43

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
Emily ran upstairs probably to go call Louise and Michael.
By the time she got back only Louise was with her. Michael was nowhere to be found.
"Did you see Michael as you went outside?" Emily asked me and I told her I haven't seen him this morning. The only person I have seen since I woke up was herself and Louise who knows how she got into my bed.
"You don't have to go to the doctor anymore. I already called him and he's on his way here." Louise said as she sat down on the couch beside me.
"Why do you have to do this all the time? I knew the doctor could come but I decided to go to him myself because I wanted to stretch my legs at least." I yelled at her but she did not find it annoying.
"Please go on with whatever you have to say. We will share it with Michael when he comes back from wherever he is." Louise stated while she continued firing her fingernails.
"Don't you think you should get a manicurist to do that?" I asked her because I felt she was not doing it properly.
"No I don't think so I prefer doing it myself." She responded why she concentrated on the nails she was filing.
Michael walked into the living room immediately and I was surprised that by that time he had already left the house.
"Are you sure you slept in this house last night?"Louise queried him as soon as he entered the living room.
"You should learn to stay off my business," he retorted and I decided to allow the two of them to have a little banter. I mean it's been a long time since I saw them argue. But guess what, they disappointed me as neither of them said a word further.
"Can you now tell us why we are all gathered here?'' I asked Emily, who was biting her nails and feeling so uneasy and nervous.
"If you don't have something important to say please tell us at least most of us I have something to do." Louise stated and I could bet that she had already lost her patience.
Mine was nowhere close to me either because I had planned to go spend time somewhere out of this house just so I could stop being reminded of my misfortunes.
"What I'm about to say might sound unbelievable but trust me it is the truth." Emily began and she succeeded in drawing my attention. Hence I was completely focused on her and what she was about to say.
"Michael has been the one sabotaging your office all along. I can swear that he has committed treason." She stated and Michael stood up on his feet immediately.
With the force he stood up with, it was as if he was going to attack Emily so I also stood up and stayed in their middle.
"You don't say what you are not sure of Emily." I told Emily and I turned to face her and she insisted that she knew every bit of what she was saying. She also said that she had evidence to prove everyone of them.
"What do you mean by I have committed treason?" I thought you loved me Emily. Michael said as he turned from my back where he was standing and to the spot where Emily was standing.
Emily on the other hand walked away from him, changing her position.
"Don't you dare emotionally blackmail me. I saw all that you were doing but I decided not to make a case out of it and that was because I wasn't really sure of it but now I'm sure and I have facts to concretise my claims." Emily screamed.
"How could you do this to me? How could you do this to us? I thought we had an agreement." Michael said as he kept walking towards Emily and I also kept on following him just so he doesn't hurt her.
"There was no way I was ever going to let you become alpha. My brother is the alpha and he's going to get an heir," Emily stated as tears were already dropping down her cheeks.
I walked up to her and cleaned her tears with my thumb. I also tried to tell her to stop but she cried the most.
I decided to leave Emily alone and face Micheal. It was clear that he was my problem. No wonder he walked out of the conference room the way he did the other day.
"Was that why you walked out of the conference room rudely the other day?" I asked him but he couldn't say a word to me.
I turned to look at Louise thinking she would also have something to say. But from the expression on her face she was dumbfounded and clearly had nothing to contribute to the whole issue.
"You are pathetic Michael. I can't believe you would stoop so low to do this. I mean what will you stand to gain? You were supposed to be my beta and I trusted you with everything in me. Is this how you reciprocate my kindness to you?" I lashed out on Michael with so much anger as I tried to control myself so that I don't tear me apart.
"You are no good either Christopher, if anyone is pathetic here it should be you. I lived my life for you. I did everything you wanted me to do. I tried as much as I could to please you but you were never satisfied.
Michael retorted in a very loud tone and I was surprised at all the utterances he made. What does he mean by, he lived his life for me and did everything I wanted him to do and I did not acknowledge or appreciate it.
"What do you even mean by that Michael? Has there been a day when you are told to do something beyond your capacity? Has there been a day that she would have to go out of your way to do something for me?" I asked him angrily and he could not respond to my question then it became clear to me that he was only being bitter and the best he could do was this.
"I suppose you were the one that told the council of elders that I was not fit to be alpha. I am sure you were the one that suggested that I should be relieved of my position." I shouted at him and he kept moving away from me.
"You want to be alpha, you want to be alpha Michael come and take it. Come and take it, take the bracelet off my hand, take everything, take it and be in charge." I said to him sarcastically as I moved towards him.
"What are we going to do with him?" Louise stated for the very first time since we started having this conversation.
"I don't know.. I would never think that something like this would ever happen so I don't know what to do about it." I replied.
"When do you say you are having the meeting with the council of elders?" Emily asked me and as I turned to look at her face and I saw that she had stopped crying even though her eyes were already swollen.
"The meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow and my main aim of calling this meeting was to discuss my marriage with Louise.
I explained to her as I walked back to my seat.
I looked at Michael who stood at a spot. He was obviously confused. He didn't know what to do or what to say. He just kept staring at everyone and from the look of things it was as though he was going to attack us soon.
I wanted to leave Emily and Louise behind and go get my gun but I felt as though if I leave he might attack them and do something stupid. So I decided I was going to sit here and watch him do whatever it was he would do.
He is a man and I am also a man. I would gladly face him with everything in me I thought to myself as I looked straight into his eyes.
"This should be one of your discussions with the council of elders. You should let them know that Michael is no longer worthy to be called your beta and you all also have to decide on a punishment for him," Louise added as she walked out of the living room.
Michael looked angrily at Emily and seeing the way he was looking at her I was sure that my sister was no longer safe so I walked up to her and asked her to leave the sitting room in a whisper.
She obeyed my voice immediately and walked out of the room.
Don't come out until I ask you to do so I shouted and she also screamed a yes.
I then walked up to Michael and stood before him. I thought he would apologise to me and promise me never to do what he did again but he did not instead he attacked me and we both got into a serious fight.
While we were still fighting, we heard the door open and the doctor walked in. It was a doctor that separated us and Michael angrily walked out of the house.
"You shouldn't be doing this Christopher apart from being an alpha, which is a hallowed position. You are sick at the moment and should be resting and not fighting." The doctor scolded me and I apologised for what I did.
"That's okay, should we stay here or we should move into your bedroom?'' The doctor asked me and I told him to follow me to the bedroom.
As I entered the room with the doctor, I met Louise in the room scattering a few things. I ignored her and walked straight to the bed and the doctor followed me.
As he examined me, he kept nodding just as he did the previous time and took some notes and told me that I was improving very fast. He made me promise that I will not joke with my drugs and also my rest.
"How has he been eating?" He asked Louise, who was just a few feet away from us.
"He has been eating well, I have been trying as much as I could to make sure that he does,'' she stated and a doctor applauded her.
"There'll be no need for me to come back again with this, he is stable. And can do anything however if there is any emergency don't hesitate to call me the doctor said that he was packing his bags to leave.
I got off on the bed and stood beside him while he packed his things there after I walked him downstairs and to his car which he parked outside the gate.
As he drove out of the compound I looked at the garage and I noticed that Michael's car was not there. I asked the gateman if he opened the gate for Michael and he said yes.
"Don't open the gate for him when he returns unless you confirm from me." I ordered him.
With that I walked back into the building I went to check up on Emily. I had to ask her how she heard all of that because such information does not just drop like that.
"Michael told me everything." She stated.
"Is this why you have been close to him all along?" I asked her and she nodded telling me that she did all she did the moment she realised that he was beginning to get mischievous around us.
"The best way to get an enemy is to get closer to him. Remember you don't push your enemy away, you pull them close so that you can learn their tactics and use it against them." She stated and I found real sense in the statements that she had just made.
Michael was that enemy and she was able to save us all from the situation that was looming because she was sensible and sensitive enough to know when something was going wrong.
"How long have you noticed this?" I asked Emily as I stood up from the stool and sat on the bed.
"It's been going on for a very long time now. I noticed it even before Miriam left but I have been waiting for the perfect time to share this story."
Thank you for saving me Emily I said.
Thank you too for not letting yourself be dominated by Michael." Emily said to me and I pulled her close for an embrace.
Emily always saves me at all times. There has never been a time she would watch me fall into danger no matter what I do to her. If you want to know what love is and how much love can do for another then watch what Emily does for me everyday.
"Is there anything you would want me to get for you?" I said as I pulled out of her arms and looked at her beautiful face
"No Christopher, I am good. I don't think I need anything. All I want is that you should be safe. That will be the best thing you would ever do for me.'' She preached to me. I couldn't help but smile at her little sermon.
"I owe you my life, you know?" I said to Emily and she smiled.
"I promise to watch your back and I won't stop doing it" she assured me as she laid on my chest.
"How do we get rid of Michael because it seems that he will come after us." Emily asked me in a very concerned tune and I told her that I was also thinking about the same issue.
It is almost impossible for all of this to happen and we think that Michael will not come back at us
"Don't worry he won't even have the guts to come back." I said just to assure her that she was safe. Besides, it is my duty to protect her and make sure she is safe.
"I know you will do all you can to protect me but at the same time I am also scared for your safety so how are you going to do this?" Emily asked me and I assured her that I will be fine and that she doesn't need to worry.
"If you say so then I believe you,'' she said as she wrapped her hand around my waist and I stroked her hair with my fingers.
"I intend to go to see the alpha of the silver moon pack. I heard that man has so much wisdom in him and I would love to draw from his well of knowledge." I said to Emily intimating her on my plan to travel to see the silver moon pack alpha.
"When do you intend to embark on this journey?" Emily asked me and I told her I intend to win it after the wedding.
"Well you have to start now because from the look of things you don't have time on your side." She said as she lifted her head from my chest and told me to leave her alone so I could go and do something meaningful with my life.
