Chapter 66

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I woke up on Louise's chest and as I opened my eyes to look at her, she was awake, smiling at me and looking like someone who just won herself a lottery.
"Good morning, my lord." She greeted me and I was more surprised at the tune she used on me. This should be the first time she is sounding this nice and I am sure it was the sex last night that made it possible. She has always wanted to have me in her bed and it became possible last night just because I had to appease her.
"We need to get going." In response to what she had just said, I instructed her as I got up from the bed and reached out to my clothes.
Within a few minutes, I was dressed but she was still lying down on the bed.
"I am sure you know that we have things to do at home. So can we get going now?" I had to remind her since it looks as if she forgot that we were on a date and it was all over already.
Instead of standing up to get ready, she started moving her body on the bed. It was so inviting but I tried my best not to be tempted.
The one that happened last night was something I never intended but I had to let it slide. This is just so I can be on good terms with her and now she is doing something else again.
I yelled at her for the first time since we started becoming closer and she jerked up immediately.
"Don't you dare scream at me again, Chris. You are nothing better than I am." She stated as she got up from the bed and started looking for her clothes that were scattered all around.
She did not even use the duvet to cover herself. Whilst picking up her clothes, she walked around naked and I had to look away.
Seeing that I wasn't comfortable seeing her bare skin, she would walk wherever I face and pretend to get something there.
Now, it became obvious that this woman is bent on frustrating me. I stopped looking away and stared at her while she dressed up.
She gently started with her panties and wore them slowly. Her bra took her ages to hook as she kept caressing her breast instead of just getting dressed.
When it was time to wear her dress, she begged me to help her put it on.
Instead of allowing me to do what she has asked me to do, she kept distracting me with kisses and caresses.
Well, I forced myself to concentrate and I finally had the dress on her body.
I also helped with her shoes just so that we could leave this place in no time. While I was still buckling the shoes, I heard my phone ring so I had to rush to get it before the call drops.
It was the driver and he called to inform me that he was ready and he was waiting for us.
As I turned back to look at Louise after taking the call, I still found her sitting in the bed waiting for me to come back to buckle the shoes.
"Miriam would never demean me in this manner." I said to myself underneath my breath as I moved to go buckle the right leg that was undone. Not because I could not just leave, but because I really wanted to get out of this place and Louise can be a demon at times.
When I was done with her shoes, I looked around and made sure that I had not forgotten anything. Besides, I didn't come in with anything tangible but I just needed to be sure.
"Is it my ass you are still looking for?" Louise asked me as she saw me looking around.
"I am not in the mood for your silly jokes this morning. Make sure you don't forget anything." I said to her as I walked out of the room.
She obviously did not come after me immediately because I stood at the door waiting for her for a few minutes before she walked out and also passed me without saying a word.
I also walked behind her without speaking to her too. As we got to the reception, the driver stood up from where he was sitting to meet us. He was the one who dropped the keys and also settled the bills. I wanted to ask him where he got the money from because he never asked me for money.
We walked out of the building when he was done and Louise kept frowning her face like she had just lost a relative.
"It seems you did not have a good time." The driver said to her as he helped her open the car door for her.
"I did enjoy myself here. Just that your alpha decided to ruin it for me." She replied as she stepped into the car and the driver started laughing.
I also joined in the laughter because the way she said it made it really funny.
As I entered the car, I continued laughing even after every other person had stopped.
"What is funny?" Louise asked me and the driver joined me in the laughter.
Thereafter, the drive was very quiet until we got home. As we drove in, everyone started smiling at us. It seems like they have all been expecting us.
I waved at the servants who were greeting me and walked inside. Louise had already gone ahead of me. As I entered into the living room, there was Emily standing with her both hands folded under arms.
"What is wrong with you, Chris? Must you ruin everything?" She lamented as soon as I walked into the living room.
I just bursted out with laughter and tried to walk past her but she grabbed my hand and stopped me from moving forward.
"What is it Emily? What did Louise tell you I did this time?" I asked her as she was determined not to let me go.
"She said you ruined your date." She responded and I started laughing again.
"I believe I haven't said anything funny at all." She retorted and I gave her a blank stare.
"I need to freshen up. We will talk when I come out." I said just to discharge her and she let go of my arm that she was holding.
I walked upstairs into my room and laid on the bed feeling tired.
It felt as though I have been doing some hard work lately and everything was taking its turn on me.
When I was finally able to get up on my feet, I struggled to take off the clothes I was wearing. Then I moved into the bathroom to have my bath. I felt so refreshed as soon as the water touched my body. It was as though I had not had my bath for a long time.
While I was still in the shower, I heard the door open because it was open. Louise walked in and held me from my back.
"What is this all about?" I said to her and pulled her hand out of my body.
"Why are you pretending like you don't want this?" She whispered as she caressed my back with her hands.
"I do not want it and I don't care how you feel about it. In fact what happened last night was not intended." I told her and she stopped immediately.
The moment she stopped, a knock came on the door and I asked her to go get it so that whoever it is does but barge in on us.
"I locked the door before walking in here." She responded and after a while the knock stopped. I hurriedly had my bath and left her in the bathroom.
As I stepped out, the first thing that greeted me was the robe she walked out of as she stepped into the bathroom.
I walked past it and moved to the closet to get something to wear. As though she was waiting for me to get out of the bathroom, she came out immediately and picked up her robe. I leaned on the wardrobe in the closet and watched her as she walked out of the room.
It was then I comfortably walked out of the closet and started dressing up. As I got downstairs, I was informed that the council of elders were waiting for me in the conference room.
I asked what it was all about but Emily said she did not know what the matter was.
"You will join us." I said to her as I walked to the bar to grab a drink.
After taking two glasses, I walked out towards the conference room. Then I turned in a haste to go get my phone and wristwatch which I left in my room. As I turned, I hit Emily as I did not know she was coming behind me.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were coming behind me." I apologised as I held her close and embraced her.
"It's fine. Should I wait for you or,,," she started but I cut her short.
"Just wait for me in the conference room. Tell the elders I will meet them soon." I said to her and she walked towards the conference room immediately.
On my way upstairs, I met Louise walking down the stairs. She tried to stop me but I did not stop. I walked past her in a hurry and as I turned back to look at her, I caught her standing at the spot, staring at me.
I rushed into my room, grabbed the phone and rushed out without taking the watch with me.
I reached the spot I left Louise and she was still there.
"What is it this time?" I stopped to know why she seemed bothered.
"It's nothing, I just wanted to say I am sorry for rushing things." She stated and I assured her everything was perfect before heading to the meeting.
Emily was already addressing the elders as I walked in although I could not catch up with what she was saying as I walked in. I had to settle in and spend a few minutes before I unravelled what she was saying.
They all applauded her when she was done talking and also informed me that they were comfortable working with her as my beta.
"Thank you." I said to them as I could not find any other thing that could stand as a suitable response.
"We are here because of the last meeting. We want to know what you have done about finding your Luna." One of the elders said and I hoped Emily could just come up with a response just as Micheal will do whenever he sees that I am in a difficult situation.
"We are making plans and we should find her soon." I told them as Emily just stood by staring without saying a word.
"Are you going to continue with her or,,," Adams started but I had to interrupt him.
"Please don't even think of that. There is no way I am taking back Miriam. She left on her own accord and it is going to remain so. I am getting a divorce." I said and they were all taken aback. Especially Adams because I took the words out of his mouth and said it my own way.
"We don't have a problem with your decision. All you have to do is to make it quick. You don't have time on your side." Another elder chipped in and I nodded affirming to them that I was very much aware of the urgency surrounding the whole situation.
They all sat quietly for a while, looking like they still had something to tell me but no one uttered a word.
"I am no longer comfortable with the look on your faces. Could you please tell me what is going on so we can find a way around it?" I yelled at them but none of them said anything.
Instead, one after another they stood up and began to make their way towards the door.
"Lock the door and get me the keys." I instructed Emily and she did that in a jiffy.
"This is false imprisonment." One of the elders said but I was not bothered.
"You can as well tell me what I need to know if you want to leave." I said to them and no one dared question my authority.
They all sat quietly looking at each other. Emily walked close to me and whispered something into my ears but I could not hear what she was saying.
"We have a problem but we don't want to bother you with it until you are done with what you have at hand." Adams said and my mind started racing thinking of what could possibly go wrong.
"We are listening, please go ahead." Emily said to them and they whispered something to themselves.
Then Adams cleared his throat but said nothing. The other elders were just biting their lips and I just felt like grabbing all of them and hitting their heads together.
"Reports reaching us are that the rebels are up again and this time, their plans are deadly. They are planning on taking over all the packs." Adams said and my mind went straight to Mr James. He is the only one that could be responsible for this and no one else.
"Do you have an idea about those involved?" I asked him but he said he did not have an idea. They all looked confused and I was even more confused than they were.
I started thinking of how I will tackle them when they eventually get to me, coupled with all other things I had at hand to handle.
My head began to ache immediately and I stood up to leave. Emily ran after me and opened the door for me. The elders came after us and they all walked out of the building in a single file as though they were performing a ritual.
After watching them leave, I went straight to my room to rest my head.
As I entered, I saw a tray of food sitting on a stool beside the bed.
I was hungry but I have lost my appetite already so I just laid on the bed and did not touch the food.
I tried to sleep off but I could not find sleep. I then rolled to the other side of the bed which had a drawer, opened it and brought out my sleeping pills.
I held the drugs in my hand for a while, contemplating whether or not to take them because it has been a long time since I took them.
I decided I was going to take them so I opened two and swallowed them. Then I reached for the water in the tray, poured some in a tumbler and drank.
Lying down on the bed thinking of what to do, I became more worried and my heart beat increased. It was so bad that I thought it might stop and result in a cardiac arrest. While in that panic, I prayed nothing would go wrong and in less than five minutes, I blacked out.
