Chapter 29

Half-truth 2.
CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I got to the hallway and I didn't know whether to move right or left. I clearly didn't know where I was going but I kept on moving until I found Mr. James's room. Then I knew I was close to my destination and just like I guessed she called out to me again.
'Did you forget anything?" She asked as I walked up to her.
'Sorry I was rude. Can I have a word with you?" I asked her and she smiled.
'With all pleasure." She responded and beckoned me to come into the room.
That did not sit well with me so I suggested we just stood there.
'Sorry I can't come in, I parked wrongly and I am in a hurry. Please do you know where I can find them?" I asked her and she looked a bit confused.
'I mean Michael, Louise and Emily." I added and she jerked out of her confusion.
'They said they would be going to another hospital." She said and I wondered why they would leave for another hospital when the doctors here do a good job.
'Was she badly injured?" I asked again just to be sure that she would be fine soon.
'Not that much, although it is bad." She stated and then went in to grab her phone that was ringing inside.
'Do you have an idea of the hospital?" I asked her when she finished with her call.
'No, I don't, she didn't say. I think she is avoiding you. And she says you both are getting married." She continued but I was already on my way out.
I got to the gate and found that my car had been towed out of the gate.
'Where did they take my car to?" I asked the security.
'Well like you know, this is a hospital and we always have emergencies so your car has been taken care of by the authorities.
I just didn't know what to say to him at the moment. I just stopped a taxi and headed to pick up my car.
I had to pay a fee for it and signed a series of documents. The most annoying part of everything was that it stole the rest of my day from me.
It was until evening that my car was released to me and I was frustrated already.
I no longer had the energy that I had earlier to pursue the things I wanted to. So I drove home quietly.
When I got home, I still found the house as empty as I left it in the morning.
As I turned to look at the dinning, I saw that dinner was served. It was then I remembered that I haven't eaten all day.
Without a second thought, I walked to the table and started eating the food.
I was still at the table when Michael joined me.
I didn't see his car outside so I didn't think he was in.
He said hello to me and I gave him a nod as my mouth was too full for me to speak.
He waited for me to finish chewing my food before he said anything else too.
When I was done chewing, I raised my face and looked at him. He got the gist and raised his hand.
'What do you mean Michael? What happened?" I asked him and I took a glass of water and had a drink.
'I don't understand you, Christopher." He responded and I knew he was acting up.
'I thought you said we were cool, why are you still acting up?" I queried him and he did his best to defend himself.
'I just took them to the hospital." He responded.
'What did you do before taking them to the hospital?" I asked him as I took another bite from my food.
'Nothing happened between Emily and I. We were just cuddling." He responded and that cracked me up.
'You were cuddling on my bed. Well, that's fine, good night, Michael." I said as j stood up from the table. All he has just said made me lose my appetite.
'You have not finished your food." He said.
'I lost my appetite." I answered as I walked into the living room and picked up my car keys. As I was about heading to the staircase his voice came.
'I think Louise is up to something fishy." He said and I stopped immediately. You don't hear stuff like this regularly. And because it was coming from my beta, I took it very seriously
'I did what I did so I could get as much information as you may need from her." He added and by this time, I was seated at the dining table with him.
'What else do you know?" I asked him and he took a while to speak which made me feel like dragging the words out of his mouth.
'I don't know much; I am yet to find out things. But for now, you must be careful in your dealings with her." He responded and I was beginning to doubt the authenticity of what he was saying.
'Why do I feel you are saying this because you don't like Louise?" I asked him and he expressed some shock.
'You should know me by now Chris, I am only looking out for you. And I will be glad to stop if that is what you want." Michael responded and I had to calm down.
'Where in the world is she?" I asked him.
'I would take you there tomorrow if you want." He answered as he walked out of the table.
'And Emily?" I further inquired.
'They are together." He added.
'We are going there now." I instructed as I ran upstairs to have a change of clothes.
'By the time I came down, Michael was already dressed and was waiting for me in the living room.
'I need to tell you something before we proceed." He started and I sat down on the couch opposite where he was seated.
'So, what is it?" I asked as I folded my sleeves.
'Louise doesn't want to see you at the moment. And you know how dangerous she can be so I will suggest you tread with caution." He continued.
'Just tell me what you want me to do and I will do it." I said to him because I was not ready for any drama. I did not have the energy to start thinking about what to do and what not to do.
'I would like you to be very nice to her. You can't let her hate you already. Start with an apology and I am sure you can take it up from there." He advised me and I accepted.
'Let's go." I told him and left the way for him to go before me.
We walked to the car and I opened the passenger side and entered. I don't like driving when I am with Michael.
'Where is your car?" I asked him as we entered the car.
'I left it in the hospital with them." He replied as he turned in the ignition.
I rested on the seat and closed my eyes.
'Did you lock my room last night?" I asked him and he nodded in the negative.
'I mean when you left with Emily." I explained further yet he denied it.
'Why do you ask? I didn't lock you in, neither did Emily. We walked out of your room in a hurry and we ran to save Louise and her friend immediately.
'Talking about saving people, the man you thought you were saving is nothing but an ass hole.
'You mean Mr. James?" He asked.
'Yes, Mr. James. He was pretending all along. Can you beat that?" I said as I folded my hands.
'His wolf should be strong. Is he a member of our pack?" Michael asked.
'I have no idea." I responded and he started driving.
'Do you mean you just started driving and I did not notice?" I stated and we started laughing.
'We got to the gate and honked. The gateman hurried out and opened it for us and we drove out.
It was such a long drive and I was already fagged out.
When we finally reached the hospital, we walked in through the pedestrian entrance as we were denied entrance through the main entrance. To this end, we parked outside.
'This doesn't look like a hospital." I told Michael as we walked in.
'Well, this is where your soon to be Luna asked me to bring her.
We walked into the building that looked like a living house. We met a handful of people at the first room we entered which could be described as a living room but is in fact a large hall.
Following Michael's directions, we walked out of the crowd and moved the hallway and then to the staircase. We climbed the stairs and kept at it until we got to the sixth floor.
Then, Michael knocked on and opened the door by the left. He entered the room first and I followed him. It was empty at first when we got in so he sat down and told me to sit too but I insisted I would rather stand.
After a while, Emily walked in and acted as though she had not seen me. She walked straight to the bed and sat on it.
'Where is Louise?" I asked her after she sat on the bed.
'What do you care?" She replied with another question and I tried to control myself.
'You need to put her in a place she deserves." My wolf quietly said and I agreed. Emily's excesses were getting out of place already.
I stood there looking at every part of the room and at my watch too. I realized that I was late already. It was past eleven pm and we were out here.
Well, provided I get what I want done, it's no big deal. I thought to myself as I kept standing and stamping my feet.
While I was at it, Louise walked in and started screaming at me.
'What the hell are you doing here? And why did you bring him here?" She barked at Michael and I.
'He has something to tell you, so the best you could do is listen to him and stop behaving like a lunatic." Michael screamed back at her and I saw her hot head cool.
She then walked to the bed and sat beside Emily. I went down on my knees immediately and apologized.
'I am sorry I hurt you. It wasn't intended, I just couldn't control my emotions." I started and she looked at me like she heard not even a single word of what I just said.
'Louise, I said I am sorry." I repeated myself and she sighed.
Michael flared up at that moment and I was really happy. This was my beta. This is exactly who he is. He would never let anyone treat me like trash without lashing out on the person.
'Stand up, let's leave here." He said to me after shouting at Louise.
I got up at his command and just as we were about walking through the door, Louise's voice came.
'I'm sorry Christopher, I shouldn't have spoken to you the way I did." She said and I just felt she was making it up. She didn't sound remorseful but I had to take it.
We hugged each other and she agreed to follow us home. Emily who was acting up was already smiling and packing their stuff.
She made me promise never to hit her again despite the provocation and I agreed.
After all was said and done, we walked out of the room and headed downstairs.
'Are you leaving already?" An old woman we passed by the stairs asked Louise and she said yes.
We didn't pass anyone when Michael and I came in but we had stopped to say hello to a lot of people on the stairs already.
We got down and Michael said he would drive his car and I agreed so I took my own keys from him.
'Where is my car key?" Michael asked Louise and Emily and they both started looking at each other without saying anything.
'Did you drop it on the lamp stand? I told you to drop it when you were leaving?" Louise asked Michael.
'Yes." Michael replied abruptly.
'Then it should be there. We haven't got anywhere with the car." Louise said.
'I will go get it." Emily offered but before she could turn to leave, Michael was already on his way to get it. So, she had to stop and we stood there waiting for Michael.
He took a very long time before Michael returned with the keys in his hand.
'What kept you so long?" I asked him but he waved it off.
'Let's go please." I said as I dragged Louise along.
Emily rode with Michael while I was with Louise.
Louise and I entered the car and had to wait for Michael and Emily to come out. I allowed Michael to take the lead.
The first five minutes into the drive was very quiet but later on, it was as though an ocean of words was unleashed into the car.
There was nothing Louise didn't talk about. I kept on nodding and nodding. She made me remember Miriam all the time. Hearing her talk was one of my best moments with her. You would never get bored.
'You remind me so much of Miriam." I told her as we drove off.
'I told you I can be everything she was to you and even more." She bragged.
'But that is not what I want." I said to her and the expression of excitement on her face turned sour.
'So, what do you want?" She asked, rolling her eyes.
'I have had Miriam; I want to have you and not another version of Miriam. Don't make me remember her Louise, help me forget her so I can be obsessed with all that you are." I told her and she began to smile again.
'I have always thought that Miriam was better than me. I have always wanted to be her and have all she has." She explained and I wondered why she would want to be like someone else.
'That means you weren't living. You were living as a prototype of another person." I told her and tears streamed down her face.
'You are beautiful Louise, so please take time and find yourself and be just you." I admonished her and she started smiling amidst the tears.
By the time we got home, she was all smiles and you will doubt she was crying moments ago.
'Why are you so excited?" Emily asked her as soon as she stepped out of the car. Emily and Michael had gotten home before us but they stood outside waiting for us.
'It's about something beautiful." Louise responded as she smiled and walked past everyone.
